~ Using one sheet of toilet paper ain't that hard if you use both sides (as anyone knows who was raised by Depression-era parents).
Sheryl Crow's helpful, green, butt-wiping advice was, of course, tongue-in-cheek (gawd, there's a vile visual) as you'd know if you bothered to read her original proposal at Huffington. Didn't stop talk radio from running with it, though- obviously not enough in the news more important his week than trying to make Sheryl Crow look silly- proves global warming is a scam, dunnit?
~ Right-wing talker, Neal Boortz isn't in our market, (KBKW, Aberdeen; KTCR, Kennewick) but he's pretty big around the country: #9 in Talker's Mag's "Heavy Hundred." Although it's rumored he's macrocephalic, he mentored Sean Hannity which should give you a clue at the high level of his dick-dom. Frinstance: He insisted a day or two after the Virginia Tech massacre that it was an obvious symptom of the "wussifcation of America." He asked listeners, "How the hell do 25 students allow themselves to be lined up against the wall in a classroom and be picked off one by one? How does that happen, when they could have rushed the gunman, the shooter, and most of them would have survived?" This was total poodle-doodle made up by the large-headed talkhost (he's selling a book; there were acts of heroism and brilliance. Boortz nevertheless, wrote later on his Web site of the ensuing kerfuffle over his remarks: "It seems that standing in terror waiting for your turn to be executed was the right thing to do, and any questions as to why 25 students didn't try to rush and overpower Cho Seung-Hui are just examples of right wing maniacal bias. Surrender -- comply -- adjust. The doctrine of the left."
~ Mike Webb is missing- along with The Mike Webb Show, and Progressive Networks. No show, no explanation, no show notes since April 13. It's eerily quiet up there- somebody should go check on him.
~ Republican Radio or Take Back America or whatever they're calling themselves has dropped out of the Seattle market. Kiel Mortgage dropped their subsidy and the brokered right-wing weekender could no longer pay the freight at KKOL or KVI. Here was the station of such famous rightie radio-lites as Anne-Marie Lake, Bob Williams, Jerry Miller, Paul Guppy, and Stefan Sharkansky (you've heard of them, haven't you?) now down to playing an abbreviated 1-hour show over low-watt stations in milking parlors and tractor dashboards in places like Bremerton, Olympia, Spokane, and of course, the Internets. We guess Laura Kiel finally realized that giving welfare to this klunking infomercial is like giving it to the state GOP- it's a rat hole and folly for the same reason- there aren't any Republicans to listen!
~ Randi Rhodes is the Queen of the Liberal Talk and has kicked Ed Shultz off the throne? That's what Baroosk says over at Talking Radio. He's got a spread sheet which ranks the popularity of syndicated, liberal talkers according to "Talking Radio’s in-house, non-scientific study." Not really sure about his methodology, but it's interesting to read.
~ OK, OK, what's this wear Red on Fridays For the Troops business? We've gotten letters about it and though we haven't exactly seen the 'bathing of the nation in red," it's real- at least in Canada and on the Internets. Reportedly some radio stations have promoted it, but we cant find any evidence. The Snopes folks point out that these things come and go without organization, usually e-mail chains that people pass along because they think it's nice, and that someone cares. There was the driving with your headlights on during daylight hours or wearing red, white and blue on September 11 madnesses which swept the nation- only nobody actually did those things. We remember when wearing red on Thursdays meant you're gay- ah, what simpler days were those...
That the Republicans have to jump on a comment about toilet paper that was made in jest, coupled with the "controversy" of Edwards' hair shows just how much they are scrambling. Wow.

The "Wearing Red on Fridays" is for real up here, at least I think it is. I don't live near a base, but I would suspect it would be more noticable in those areas.
Wearing red on Fridays: Wear something red on Fridays to show support for the CF and their families. (Red "Support Our Troops" t-shirts and golf shirts available at: www.cfpsa.com/canex).
As for the public at large, right now the focus is on hockey jerseys.

Here in Lake City, we're using toilet paper on Fridays in support of Alberto Gonzales.

Support the Red guard!

How about black armbands to support the troops? Let's support our congress to stop this war.

Ask Duffman. He'll swallow any anti-GW spoiled-fish you feed him.
OH, and drudge-fed garbage about Edward's $40 haircut - ie, the most important news ever.
Note: I wonder if Duffy knows how much Drudge hates his goddess?
Posted by: mercifurious | April 25, 2007 at 09:25 AM
Drudge is such a sissy, y'all.

I'm sorry, I watch FOX News. Do you mean that something has happened in the last week other than Alec Baldwin, Sheryl Crow and our continued success in Iraq? I thought that the Attorney General was supposed to testify to Congress, but no one seems to be talking about it on FOX.

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week on MSNBC, Stephanie Miller and crew will be broadcasting live on MSNBC in Imus' old spot. That makes it 3 am -6 am our time on the west coast...I plan on taping it for later viewing. This morning they had quite a discussion of what they would have to leave off the air since they would be on TV and would want to be "sensitive" to recent events. I suppose that means the " You're a lying sack of crap" song is out....

Sparks on my future wife:

Actually, I think they said it would be on during their "normal time" here (6-9am). Only if you wanted to call-in, it would be 3-6am... I think.
Will be watching/listening. Perfect replacement for Imus - and the polar opposite: Hot, Smart, & funny.
Note: Herr Falafeloofa is gonna have a coronary about this MSNBC move. Let's hope that Orally tries to add Stephanie Miller into his Soros web of evil.
Note2: What are the odds of Kim Jung Il ("K to-the-I to-the-M-J-Izzy") Making an appearance. 0-to-none?

O-moron is just pissed because they fact check his ridiculous lies extensively. Notice how he won't refute any of their source evidence, rather he just stoops to smear tactics because he's aware his audience is too stupid to notice.
Posted by: cowpotpi3 | April 25, 2007 at 01:40 PM
well it will be recorded and played at the regular time here on KPTK, which I will listen to as usual, but I would like to watch them in action....
Posted by: sparky | April 25, 2007 at 02:14 PM
O-Moron? Can't we come up with something more creative? O'Rile-Me or something, ya know? Okay?
Posted by: Shaniqua | April 25, 2007 at 02:15 PM
How come Rush Limbaugh is able to play this parody (pre-written; pre-planned; thought out in advance) and there's no firestorm of criticism?
http://www.alternet.org/story/50998/
Am I missing something? How come this fat fuck can be a very clear racist and bigot, but Don Imus is off the air?
Posted by: tink | April 25, 2007 at 06:20 PM
I heard that clip today too, Tink. Just chalk it up to yet another example of ultra-right hypocrisy.
And Shaniqua, I defer to your creative stylings, my insults need some panache.

Sheryl Crow is ridiculous for hinting to the vultures of the media that she urged people to use one square of TP. They ran with it and made her seem psychotic - oh well. Not hard to see why Lance dumped her.

Thanks for playing "People Who Should be Thinned from the Herd!"

Did anyone notice the timing of Mike Webb's apparent cessation of his internet show? Hint: Same general period of KIRO changing ownership. The return of his show to replace any of those lesser than him on that station (and I would argue that would include all but one) represents a potential gold mine in ratings for the upcoming NEW KIRO, and a solid start to putting things back together the way they were when the station ruled the nest. Looking for Mike? Look behind the scenes at KIRO right now.
Posted by: Martin R. Howell | May 05, 2007 at 03:42 PM
I can't (in my wildest dreams) imagine that he would be back on KIRO.

Well, JM, you can run but you can't hide...found you again. I am on annual mission to analyze destruction of great NW as I once knew it, oh, and see the rels too.
Going to have my own 1/3 of a blog shortly to hype the Three Berets art show (Holyoke) in which I hang, hat and all. I will be guest on XM Oprah Friend Dr. Oz Oct.19, again, plug the show. This may be redundant if I raise you by phone.
