Oh yeah...just what we need, yet another conservative blasting 50K Watt station to saturate the area with BS.
Hey (as an aside) did you'all see who apparently raised the most $funds for their campaign? I wasn't kidding 'bout Mrs Clinton ya know. Follow the money! We will all (sans token conservatives) be voting for her.
Sorry Obama fans...he will make a good V.P.

Boy does that sound like a great line up. Seattle needs more conservative talk just to counter all of the left wing banter of the times and its step sister the p.i.

"...filed an application with the FCC for a 50,000 watt replacement facility."

Already been done.

The station received test authority last November. The FCC database now shows them licensed at their new power.

Boy, do you have it wrong. Lan Roberts and company made it big at the original KOL--which changed their call letters to KMPS. This "KOL" is actually KKOL, although they like to image themselves as the original KOL with "K......KOL."

As for Clendening, if the station remains on robot-radio format (syndicated programming), he'll do great since he won't have a staff to manage.

Ted Smith

KKOL is running 50kw from a site near the Tacoma Dome, as reported above. Other engineers tell me that they are having a number of technical problems and their daytime signal in Edmonds is pitiful (nighttime signal is nonexistent). Like KJR before them, KKOL may be learning that the Tacoma Tide Flats is no place to build an AM radio station.

Tom is the guy that hired the over baked brain The one the only Herr"" Styblehead It"s not funny its just plan wrong The Styblehead is like a large kindey Stone with out any warter

Isn't he the guy that brought Prell to town. And put Goldstein on the air? Two pretty good moves, but canceled out by firing Prell.

I think he also put Dave Ross on at 9 a.m. after Jim French left and he put Ron & Don on. Those two have grown on me.

Not crazy about Stible, but he did get rid of that horses ass Lou Pate.

Don't be surprised to hear Styble on KKOL (since he works for free, just to be able to roll tape on his shows to send out to other markets). Clendening will put him on overnights or some shift that he doesn't have to deal with him.

But here's an interesting note: today I was switching back and forth from KTTH and KVI around 2:35 PM and both Medved AND Hannity were interviewing Congressman Duncan Hunter---and taking calls. One of the hosts had to have pre-recorded the interview, but which one. I'm leaning toward Hannity because he said the interview was "exclusive" and that he also said at the end, "Every Thursday, it's Meet the Candidate." Today is Monday. Hmm. Or Medved could have pre-recorded his interview and had some "staged callers" to ask the congressman some questions. Perhaps Hunter had himself cloned so that he could more interviews at the same time.

Boy does that sound like a great line up. Seattle needs more conservative talk just to counter all of the left wing banter of the times and its step sister the p.i.

We need to state our case better? Let's be serious, MIchael.

Styble can't go to KKOL- he's an atheist, Salem wouldn't even let him work for free.

If you use that logic, how did Clendening get the PD job? Because Joe Heslet is the GSM. It's not what you know or what you believe--it's who you know. And you can bet he's not making near the amount of money he was when he was at KIRO.

'talkradiofiend' could indeed be 'Lou Pate'...don't you think...

Earthquake Mike

As noted above KKOL has new towers in Tacoma near Hwy 509... but something interesting I saw today...the area around the towers is filled with automobiles; stored there by the shipments coming thru the Port of Tacoma. Just wondering, how does having all those cars parked around the transmitter area/towers affect their signal? LOL

Salem Broadcasting hurting for money so they leasing out their transmitter area to store automobiles???

talkradiofiend sounds like Pate when he takls about Tom getting the job because of "who he knows", especially since his "who you know" explanation of anyone more successful than him was one of the three or four monotonous, endlessly repeated Lou Pate Talking Points that comprised his dreary, bigoted shtick. But the other post from talkradiofiend sounds too pleasant and humorous to have come from that negative creep.

And Dori Monson was a Clendenning hire.

The location of those towers ends a years-long saga of searching for a new location.

Both KKOL and KJR had problems keeping their directional patterns stable, given the movement of the cranes on Harbor Island. The KJR tower was, I believe, one of the first to go up in the '20s. It was damaged in our last earthquake, pretty much forcing the issue for them. KKOL followed soon after. They tried their 1590 site on Bainbridge, but that didn't work well enough. Other possible sites included shared locations on Vashon and Mercer Island, and at least one spot that kicked up public ire before it ever got off the ground. Putting their transmitter on that ship was brilliant, but nearly the last resort while they sorted out the Tacome site and got their construction permit.

Too bad about their coverage. Somewhat the same thing happened to the 1210 station in Auburn (KWMG/KDDS/KNWX/KTTH/KBSG/KASY). They built a new site off of hwy 18, hopefully to raise power & extend coverage. Something about the hills... but the new location didn't turn help them much.

Must be nice to be able to gamble away that kind of money.

Interesting stuff, jb!

I hope that Kiro will do a shake up in there talk show host's, Iam Thinking a little Hairy Gary behind the Glass put him in front of the Mic ,I still think some good interviews with Girls gone wild, Even one with Bryan Styblehead on how to shave your back hair with out any soap .An for those hot August night's Red neck Interviews!! on how to share one beer with 4 friend without using any ice .
