Wow. In an incredible boot-up for liberal talk radio, The Stephanie Miller Show has been named to try out for the vacant, early morning, Imus simulcast spot on MSNBC.
It's "temporary," we're assured by our spy out at MSNBC Redmond, and no done deal. But we've learned that Miller is the top contender, and the one for whom the network has the greatest hopes.
"They decided it was time for a woman in that slot," he told BlatherWatch.
It's been a fierce firefight between some of the most hardball agents in the country. Other competitors: Michael Smercomish, Ed Shultz, Neal Boortz, Randi Rhodes, Rachel Maddow, and Laura Ingraham.
Miller's show (KPTK m-f, 6-9a) is liberal, progressive and very
funny, and another progressive media success. She's syndicated by Jones
Radio Networks (which is not Air America).
Her caffeinated, fast-moving show is assisted hilariously by voice
actor, Jim Ward who could do an impression of Harpo Marx and make a
radio audience crack up.
Miller, 49, a comedienne, has hosted local radio shows on KABC and
KFI in LAs and co-hosted CNBC's "Equal Time" as the liberal
counterweight to Bay Buchanan.
(Besides her many and obvious talents, she's always been dear to
our hearts because she's the daughter of former Republican Rep. William
Miller, Barry Goldwater's running mate in 1964; a ticket we supported
in 1963).

You know, I would really be thrilled for her if she was tapped by MSNBC....but I would hope that KPTK would still run her show..it would mean not being able to call in anymore, but they would be nuts to lose her on that morning drive time. Of course, if they do move her, then goodbye KPTK and I will tape the t and v to watch in the evenings.
I also would be sad if she had to tone things down because she was on tv....no more Lying Sack of Crap, no more Itchy Kitty, no more Squeezy McFeelpants, no more playing the audio of Billo reading from his porn novel....no more Jim Ward impressions of Kim Jong Ill....
"Stephanie Miller is as harmless as a kitten" _randi rhodes
Miller is a perfect fit for MSNBC in the post Imus era. Her show appeals to a politically correct leftwing female mentality. Miller is less controversial than lukewarm tapioca.

The translation in my head is if your sick and tired of assholes listen to Stephanie.
Amazing! Every time i come on here its the same old people throwin out the same ol bullshit trying to out do each other with stupid rhetoric. I swear you folks are pathetic, you need to get jobs a quit wasting your fuckin time like this. DO SOMETHING; get off your fat asses and MOVE!!!
You are like hungry fish in a pond, swimming around with nothing to do. Someone throws a morsel in and you all jump to it with your almighty egotistical wisdom. Surely you must have chores, preparations, other things to do beyond staring at the computer screen. You poor sad, lonely bastards I feel for you (& thus - for this country). Can't stay here long - makes me sick.
Just found it but everyone should be watching the Bill Moyers Journal which is interviewing many, many journalists about how the gov sold the war. Fascinating!
Knight Ridder is the only news service that investigated thoroughly the WMD charges and found nothing there. The two reporters who found the story that now everyone is acknowledging was correct said the only medium that asked either reporter on was CSpan. One of the reporters actually appeared on CSpan - probably Washington Journal but he didn't say.
Geez, this is a good documentary. Too bad so many would rather hear pundits proclaiming whatever instead of listen to a well-researched piece of journalism like Moyers presents.
Walter Isaacson just said the people at Knight Ridder were calling the colonels and the CIA people and finding out the facts and they got it right. These people were saying the story that the gov is handing out has some problems. But big media called on pundits and politicians as their experts.
What a crock our so-called "journalists" are in main-stream media.
It's surreal to hear them talk matter of factly about an administration leading us into war "under false pretenses" while that same administration is still administering as we speak. It's like a historic mistake which has yet to finish being made, nevermind remedied.
I think I mus needs his job back on MSMBC. But if not my second pick for this would be LIONEL from the Lionel show www.lionelonline.com
He is a wacky DUDE!
I don't think she will be the permanent fill-in, as Larry Elder, IMHO who is more reiable and informative will be in Imus's spot the following week. OR, Maybe they will choose the most Satanic talker to be MSNBC's choice to fill in for the I-man - there's a stiff competition going among talkers for that distinction...
Keep Moyers confined to PBS - he's become a crock and comes across as a blathering socialist who has little credibility in my book. FYI - Karl Rove also has little credibility in my book.
Don't shoot the messenger. Even the media admits they fucked it up. They showed British news coverage in contrast to US news coverage, and the British coverage of the run-up was much more damning and forthright than anything I ever saw in the US media. Even a pinko like Bill Moyers is incapable of overstating the facts.
It came down to this: puting faith in Bush and Powell was patriotic as 9-11 was still a fresh wound, and telling the viewers things that challenge patriotism was bad for the news business. It drove viewers over to Fox News if they weren't there already, and it's still as
batshit today as it was then.
That's the lesson to be learned, that our journalists are no such thing, they are just mirrors reflecting our opinions back at us. The network presidents fire people who get bad ratings, not people who are biased or sworn to a fixed outcome of opinion.
If you watch Fox News, the only truth you will ever get is the truth that a conservative is happy to hear, you will never get "the truth truth", because that would hurt their ratings. Rupert Murdoch is better known for his wealth and business prowess than honesty and candor.
Keep Moyers confined to PBS - he's become a crock and comes across as a blathering socialist who has little credibility in my book. FYI - Karl Rove also has little credibility in my book.
Klueless, you never fail to show the depth or your cluelessness! I'm wondering what - if any - Bill Moyers program you have ever watched? And if you respond to this by naming a program, tell me what you saw that so labels Moyers a crock or a socialist.
I know, I will not hear back. That in and of itself is further proof you have nothing to support your allegations about Moyer. And your book? A bunch of empty pages authored by Fox News.
Hey great show, kinda close to Don Imus. She has the same great personality as Don does. If we can't have Don, Stephanie is the best replacement. Hey I heard the HO thing from her, thought it was great.
