State Attorney General Rob McKenna will join Goldy on the radio Thursday evening at 9p. He's filling in for Frank Shiers for the rest of this week (KIRO 9p-1a).
And we're pretty sure he'll send bouquets to his old Republican colleague, John McKay, who was famously fired by "loyal Bushies," apparently because he wouldn't call a grand jury for the gubernatorial election kerfuffle of 2004.
McKenna wrote Goldy a few weeks ago: “We had a good relationship with John McKay. He was an excellent attorney, highly respected by other prosecutors as well. I think President Bush made a mistake.”
The Washington Post addresses "The Myth of Voter Fraud," today.
Although most Republicans have taken it easy on him because he's the highest pecker in the order of those rare birds: Republicans elected statewide. Although he keeps the fine print of his politics tightly clamped to his skinny little chest- he's a member of the Mainstream Republicans, at least that's what Mainstream director Alex Hayes told us last year.
The Mainstreamers are those much-maligned moderates who include all the R's elected statewide like Sam Reed, and Doug Sutherland, and more.
His defense of McKay, and his membership in that lukewarm Republican club doesn't make him beloved in some quarters of the GOP.
Even though it wasn't his jurisdiction, McKenna was pestered by Republicans just as McKay was to investigate the controversial election.
Frinstance, here's a piece of snorefectious video of Stefan Sharkansky fawning over McKenna in 2005; sniffing around the AG's scrawny nates and asking him whiny, yet leading questions that we now know fall on the sleazy side.
"Can the Attorney General," asked Sharkansky, "do anything using the bully pulpit publicly or privately to put pressure on the county prosecutor to do anything?"
Well no, said McKenna, "We work on many things together, and I really have respect for the prerogatives of the county prosecutor and the federal prosecutor in this matter."
He'd already told Sharkansky and the roomful of heavy-breathing downtown Seattle Republicans there "were certainly mistakes made," but, he hastened to add, they did not rise to the level of criminal violation in the views of the county and the federal prosecutors.
(Of course, Stefan is still unconvinced. He's gone off his rocker a little, lately as this the national scandal and Senate testimony has put a fork in his dearly held conspiracy theories.) McKenna encourages Stefan in the video to do more investigating and perhaps dig up some stuff the prosecutors might be interested in. Stefan is a Green Lake house husband and live-at-home-Dad who should testify before the Senate Judiciary committee if he's got the goods. He could clear Attorney General Gonzales of some of the charges. No really- all he has to do is have the vacuuming done and make sure someone takes out the recycling on Wednesday. Stefan: only you can save this man!)
Well, may be Goldie can ask what AG McKenna makes of TIME's apparent latest poll numbers showing the Republicans winning in '08? I realize it's early, but this is a bit scary. Repubs have yet to start spending their huge cach of $cash? [Course, Dems haven't really begun yet either]. I was surprised; thought poll numbers would show different.

Publicans don't need facts or proof. Just that old tried and true "gut instinct."
Isn't that what Bush relied on to get us into Iraq?
What a mess these people make.

I've been reading BW since its Caesarean birth, and I've FINALLY found a reason to tune in KIRO during the week...Hey, Duf, it would be really helpful if you's cite or link your sources...(Duh!)

Hey, Duf, it would be really helpful if you's cite or link your sources...(Duh!)
For Duffy to do this he'd have to split his gut open. Hope springs eternal, Fremont.

All Right!

He's filling in for Frank Shiers for the rest of this week (KIRO 9p-1a).
Thank Cthulhu (PBOH) for that!
Now if only Shudder Shiers could take a permanent vacation

Glad to see you will honor our Seppuku request. Thanks Bluffman
So any "Bandwagons" or "standard bearers" for us to follow today, Duffman? Or have you given up the
National SocialistGOP Schill routine?Posted by: mercifurious | March 29, 2007 at 09:54 AM

Sorry Fremont...here you go.

..rally round little minions, mommy is speaking.
Posted by: Duffman | March 29, 2007 at 10:00 AM
Duffman seems to be combining equal parts broken record player & bratty child tossing the lost checkers table.
No facts. No info. No sources. Just his guts & ignorant dottardness
Posted by: mercifurious | March 29, 2007 at 10:02 AM
So, does anyone think that the minnow or any of his loony lackeys over at Un(sp) will overcome their revulsion of Goldy and call in and demand McKenna explain why he hasn't arrested all of King County for voter fraud? That would be compelling radio.
Posted by: JDB | March 29, 2007 at 10:12 AM
Shouldn't you be working on that home work assignment given to you by Steve?
Posted by: Duffman | March 29, 2007 at 10:16 AM
From Duffy's Source:
In our poll, Hillary Clinton loses to John McCain, 42-48%, and to Rudy Giuliani 41-50%. Even though Clinton maintains a 7% edge over Obama among Democratic respondents, Obama fares better in the general election match-ups. It's so close that it's a statistical dead-heat, but Obama still loses: 43-45% to McCain, 44-45% to Giuliani.
Velly Intellesting.
So in other words, this supposed "standard bearer" and "bandwagon" that loyal left-leaning Duffman wants us to follow, is doing worse than other DEM hopefulls.
Is this a learning/reading disability of yours, Duffy? Seriously. Sometimes it seems like you just read the headline and post things.
Another trademark of your collegiate training, I'm sure
Posted by: mercifurious | March 29, 2007 at 10:17 AM
That poll is about as useful as tits on a bull. Haven't you seen these kind of pre-speculative polls before? Heck if we believed these things Clinton never would have been elected, Bush would have lost the first time among many other examples. Also notice there was no published method for the poll so clearly Time (and anyone who is thinking) doesn't put stock in it.
Of course, what does any of that tripe have to do with McKenna and the Atty. General scandal? Zippo of course. Why bring this up here Duff?
Posted by: cowpotpi3 | March 29, 2007 at 10:19 AM
..so you'd bite; and you did...just like a good little lemming...making mamma proud!
Posted by: Duffman | March 29, 2007 at 10:24 AM
So I'd bite? If you define 'bite' as explain to you why I think that poll is bunk to whit you have no response because you know it's obviously true, then OK you win.
Care to debate the issue or are you just proving everyone correct that's calling you a shill?
Posted by: cowpotpi3 | March 29, 2007 at 10:28 AM
CP3: I just threw it out because it surprised me, that's all. I would have guessed otherwise. I certainly realize that polls (especially at this time) are irrelevent. Thank you for the explanation; it's always refreshing to learn from somebody so 'in the know'. Call me what you will...Mrs Clinton still gets my vote [and my guess is also the vote of all the lemmings on this board].
Posted by: Duffman | March 29, 2007 at 10:33 AM
Mckenna is no Republican. He fought the plank against "anchor babies" in the party platform last year. I found that unconscionable for an attorney general. I wish these libs would all join the Democrat party and so Republicans could give the people of Washington a real choice.
Posted by: marty | March 29, 2007 at 10:39 AM
Republicans want to use babies as anchors?? Good God, it's worse than I thought!
Posted by: fred | March 29, 2007 at 10:43 AM
Ha fred:
..that's the fear here..first babies...then minions...then 'God forbid'...even lemmings
Posted by: Duffman | March 29, 2007 at 10:46 AM
Marty, it is called the Democratic Party, please get it right.
What is more unconscionable for an Attorney General: having a political opinion on a platform that doesn't jive with yours or an attorney general who lies and obstructs justice for purely political ends. One of these positions is patriotic and 100% defensible. The other is illegal and immoral. Being a "Republican" who believes in law and order and morality, surely you support McKenna and would like to see Gonzo behind bars? Thanks in advance for the hypocrisy.

Just in-Rush "Tantrum" Limbaugh "turns over the chess table", Resorts to Ad Hominems over Attorneygate Poll(T-8 News Service). Faced with an inconvenient, pesky truth, increasingly ideologically irrelevant talkhost Rush Limbaugh once again reduced himself to a childish, schoolyard level as he resorted to an ad hominem attack on the American public for their vote in a respected nationwide poll. The poll revealed that 71% of Americans think that the U.S. Attorney firings were inappropriate. "Blithering idiots!", he shouted in outrage and contempt."They're just blithering idiots," he harrumphed, and reached for a big fat cigar to suck on, as a pacifier.

Just as aside T8, you have a real talent for instilling a very vivid image in one's mind by the way you describe things...very good!
Posted by: Duffman | March 29, 2007 at 10:59 AM
sniff sniff. You can just smell the freeper fighting it's way free in this post:
Mrs Clinton still gets my vote [and my guess is also the vote of all the lemmings on this board].
Quite a glowing endorsement there, Duffbrain. I'm sure she'll be using this as her slogan. So wait, does this make you the "head lemming" for the left-leaning bandwagon standard-bearer. And to think we thought you were a
national socialistGOP Schill.Translated out of Duffspeak:
Excssssssselent. My brilliant strategy is in place: You lemmings all vote for Hitlary, but then I'll flank them by voting for Gang-Gingrich & our lemmings will reign eternal! Bwahahahahahah
Posted by: mercifurious | March 29, 2007 at 11:01 AM
I'm glad that McKenna is cool with the 2004 election too. Reed and others were not swayed by the crazies in the GOP. This shows how their party has been hijacked by the insane Neo-Feudalists.
Posted by: coiler | March 29, 2007 at 11:06 AM
More Duff gut-speak:
I just threw it out because it surprised me, that's all. I would have guessed otherwise. I certainly realize that polls (especially at this time) are irrelevent.
No. You threw it out there because you saw a headline but neglected to read it (surprise surprise).
We had to sit you down for storytime and read it for you - thus dragging you into the sunlight of reality: that a significant portion of it was "irrelevent".
Posted by: mercifurious | March 29, 2007 at 11:09 AM
thanks Duffman.

If the Dems win, will merci and joanie post less? That'd be a good reason to vote for 'em :)

Marty says,
" I wish these libs would all join the Democrat party and so Republicans could give the people of Washington a real choice. "
You mean like Ellen Craswell or John Carlson?

dont forget Linda Smith or Pam Roach....
Posted by: sparky | March 29, 2007 at 11:50 AM
Was just listening to Dave Ross (& I happen to value his opinion), while jogging and he sounds like he too might be leaning toward Mrs Clinton. His concern with Obama is that he "may be" (he's not decided yet) incorporating religion into his camgaign too much?
merci: All Right!

from Kos:
During today's press briefing, the White House trotted out another justification for Bush's promised veto of the just passed supplemental spending bill, saying of the Democratic plan:
"...their proposal is well outside of the mainstream."
Whose mainstream? Is that any thing like Karl Rove's math? Because in reality, the mainstream is diametrically opposed to this administration's open-ended committment in Iraq. With this threatened veto and the Republican promise to back it up, the administration and the GOP are once again ignoring what the American people want.
Last I heard, it was 70% of the American people who want us out of Iraq now.
Posted by: sparky | March 29, 2007 at 02:04 PM
Thank you so much...
To quote your esteemed leader: "Velly Intellesting."
Just keep learning from you'all...

Michael "The Wiener" Savage said on his radio show yesterday that the shootings at Columbine High School were a result of the area having the highest incidences of sex change operations.
I'm thinkin' that Marty is right...people who dont want to be mistaken for Republicans should act quickly.
Posted by: sparky | March 29, 2007 at 02:16 PM
It is up there at 70%, Bush should leave now to save the party but like most insane dry drunks, he has to take everyone with him. I have him up there with Dr Strangelove, ya know?
Posted by: coiler | March 29, 2007 at 02:22 PM
...and well you know what 'fred' said about anchor babies...yep, calls for quick action
Posted by: Duffman | March 29, 2007 at 02:23 PM
Didn't you omit something this time? Shouldn't it have been:
"That's ok duffy, we still see you...you can go back to the courthouse bench old lady."
Posted by: Duffman | March 29, 2007 at 02:59 PM
Thanks for the proper citation, Duf...while awaiting your learning to curve, I found this Time poll that has different results...how very strange...
