(If this makes you as angry as it made us- vote in our poll to the right at the very least, or call Tom Clendening at 206-726-7000 and tell him what to do about Bryan Styble. Now that Entercom is gone, KIRO may be more responsive to listeners).
In one of the most outrageous statements we've ever heard on talk radio, KIRO neocon trainwreck Bryan Styble, (Sundays, 10p-1a) argued on-air Sunday that blacks were better off in slavery in Industrial Age America than free in Stone Age Africa.
In another bloviation, Styble compared being black to being blind or otherwise physically impaired.
Being kidnapped, ripped from family and community, chained-up, transported half-way across the world, owned like cows, and worked to death for room and board, is better, by Styble's lights, than being left at home, because slaves in America had the hope of eventually enjoying the fruits of the Industrial Age and becoming free because they were now in a "constitutionally-held society."
(We won't belabor you with a rebuttle of his argument).
In a stunning example of American racism, Styble argued that America is not racist.
An incredulous African-American caller took Styble to task, comparing his to Barbara Bush's let-them-eat-cake remarks that those mostly black people stuck and starving in the Astrodome after Katrina were better off than they were in their regular New Orleans slums.
The caller had the once-a-week wonder tap-dancing like Bojangles, which was fun to hear, but didn't erase our disgust or that of the 4 other readers who wrote in.
This isn't just some politically incorrect brain fart- Styble really believes this crap, and defends it fiercely. Styble isn't used to being on-air at an hour when anyone's listening.
We think it's time for KIRO to finally scrape Bryan Styble off its shoe once and for all. He's been a repeated embarrassment; but this time his offensiveness has truly fallen short of even the minumum standards we expect in major market radio.
Oh your right L-ube.
Listening to Styble bloviate for eons about nothing is SO MUCH more fun than the Bla'M Fam making him blow his top.
I'm sure Styble's monsterous "radios turning off all across the city" 0.08 audience won't mind some fun for a change.

Lukobe...you assume that anyone other than the BlamFam listens to him....I have not heard any feedback anywhere from any of the complaints about The Sty, so my guess is that we were the only ones who heard him....

Do you really think you'd be any more entertaining on the radio, Merci?
Posted by: lukobe | February 13, 2007 at 04:07 PM
Ask Styblehead Boast to Boast. He'd say I'm a riot. Right up until he bumped me for saying the "big bad C-word".
But here's the real question: Based on his taste in talk-show hosts, How entertaining is Lukobe?
A.) Cold Fish
B.) Nails on a chalkboard
C.) Ben Stein
D.) All of the above

If Styble made more controversial racist statements his career would be a lot more successful.

there you go with the personal attacks Merci! real nice. did you happen to notice I never said I liked Styble? Dave's my favorite host on the station--him and Bob Brinker.

Fred Ebert and Bill Gallant, too, when they were still around.

Committee for a Styble-free KIRO is gratified that the pernicious danger posed by a continued Styble presence at KIRO is finallY GETTING SOME PRESS AND NOTICE. Committee president Norbert L. Goldfarb has spoken before civil and human rights groups in Berlin, New York and Provo, Utah in recent months, expressing our group's concern over the Styblehead's use of the airwaves to sput his hateful nonsense.

haha There is no Norbert L. Goldfarb, and there were no talks before groups around the world about Styble, just me, Tommy008, Committee for a Styble-free KIRO'S sole member and president, shouting at my radio, whenever the Styblehead appears on KIRO and takes broadcasting "one giant leap backwards".

there you go with the personal attacks Merci!
Moi? Au contrare. I did give you multiple choice. I happen to find Ben Stein very entertaining.
But thanks for clearing that up. I won't accuse you of being a Styblehead ever again

Thanks Merci.
(Actually, I like cold fish myself, if it's lox, herring, or whitefish spread.)

I really don't get it. Styble is like a deeply rooted weed over there at KIRO. Why, is what I want to know.
Okay, I'll write, as suggested. But hey, I did that way back in Aug 2006, did receive two replys - one, (if you can believe this, asking what exactly I didn't like about Styble), and the second to thank me for my reply with a promise my letters would be shown to the right people. Whatever. Liars.
Anyhow..what a shock to see that loon back. I gave up on KIRO long ago but dropped in here to see what was happening in the Seattle radio scene. Arg...Styble. I hope he's finally buried himself with his latest.

The poll: Only 52% want him fired? I guess that pretty much answers a couple of my questions not only about Styble but Seattle listeners.
Why am I thinking of Glenn Beck right about now? Nevermind.

I missed this episode of Styble.
Just found it on this thread. While I hesitate to comment on a show I did not hear, I can yet extrapolate sufficient data from others who did listen in.
Any form of racism, in this day and age, is inexcusable, pure and simple.
It is about time we lived in a color blind civilization.
The color of one's skin should be something that one might notice offhand, sort of like one might notice the blond hair of a Swede, or the brown eyes of a Mexican.
That said, an accusation of racism
is easy to make, and difficult to either prove or disprove.
Human aberration being what it is in this day and age, we'd be better off doing something constructive to make this a better place for all of us to live in.
Peacefully and with tranquility.
Let racism and ignorant prejudice forever fade away.
Martin Luther King said it best.

Spot on Lisa with MLK!

I would just add that sometimes we say things that are probably not overtly racist per se, but do reveal a subtle yet pernicious racism.
