In another psychological boost to staffers and management, KIRO placed #3 in the market in the Fall 12+ book published late Friday. KTTH came up to 6th place.
The is the second break employees have felt lately, including last week's acquisition of the Entercom's stations by Bonneville International.
KIRO gained 1.2 and KTTH gained one whole point.
It's just like old times. KIRO was parked up at 3rd or 4th for nearly a decade, before some rather precipitous droppings in the last year or two.
Arch-rival KOMO is #8, way down after the summer's Mariners' "baseball book;" the onset of a decent season for the Seahawks didn't hurt KIRO.
KTTH, of course has the Sonics, which may or may not have much to do with anything (that's basketball, right?) but looks like the station has made a significant recovery since a year or so ago when not even Rush was doing anything.
KVI made a small gain but stayed in the pits at 17th. KPTK held steady at 24th with a 2 share.
A KIRO source not known for hopeful pollyannish judgements told us
that staffers had great hopes for this book- "I think we've been
sounding tight in all the dayparts lately," she said.
These numbers are, of course, not the important money demo - we'll get you those numbers abnd that analysis, soon.

Bla'M..be sure to let us know if Ed kicks Dori's tokus. Also let us know if his ratings are higher.. ;-)

Dori is kicking butt today on the million-dollar viadict vote...that will do absolutely nothing.
Lots of good City Council voice clips showing them laughing about how the vote doesn't matter.

...oops! "viaduct."
Probably Freudian...since the previous is what we're gettin'....

YEA! KIRO deserves to thrive. They are the only station with local progressives. We should support them and encourage them when they do good like hire Ron Reagan and put Dave in a good spot and hire Goldy, and get rid of Mike Webb and Allan Prell who were such embarrassments to liberal thinking.

Maggie: Going so far left is exactly why they went down so low. There should be more balance to those moonbats you mentioned.

So far left......uh, yeah.

Any chance of KIRO getting the Mariners back? When does their contract with KOMO expire?
Posted by: Sharky | January 22, 2007 at 03:59 PM
KIRO's ratings are a fluke. They won't hold up.

I like KIRO, I just wish their afternoon line-up was as cerebrally challenging as their morning line-up.
Glad to hear their ratings are moving up. Seriously! I'm not being facetious.
It's a shame that their management was allowed to run the place into the ground. Where do Entercom managers go when they fired, Airbus?
I do hope they eventually get the Mariners back, for two reasons. I won't have to switch stations, and secondly, they generally pre-empt Mr. Monson.
Speaking of the Mariners, Spring training is almost here!
And it's snowing in Phoenix.........

Dave Pridemore and Tom Clendening kick ass!

I wonder how much of this is Seahawk related? The programming has not been that consistent . . . You have to wonder, again, just how reliable these books are?
Heck, when did Goldy start? Maybe he's better than he/we think!
Badly put - I think he's great and getting better.

I believe the entire fall book was a fluke. Everything was wrong with it. And how fairly can you judge anything when Warm kills everyone in the month of december playing all christmas music anyway.
The book had just absolutely bizarre anomalies that can not be explained.

KIRO's been dying for a long time. Show me 3 books like this and I'll change my mind, no sooner.

What would KTTH's rating be without Rush Limbaugh?
