I actually agree with Kirby on a few issues, and , sorry, David Goldstein is not ready for prime time. He needs to go with Dori to Dr. Kropotkin's School of Voice= Goldstein for some voice training, and Dori to learn how to not sound like a fricking annoying 15 year old pimpleboy.

Liz (and Joans): Could you have an abortion if you were raped?

Re: putting one's life in danger. There is a degree of danger in all sports. Extreme sports are about spirituality. Perhaps, the degree of danger is directly proportionate to one's endorphin levels. People who climb should establish a fund that is dedicated to search and rescue. I'm certain there are many unknown people who wander or hike into the dark side and are unmissed, never found. Jon Krakauer's books, "Into Thin Air" and "Into the Wild" are must-reads for glimpsing the inner minds of those who risk their lives. How can we judge what we don't know? (Duh!)

joanie

Do you think the endorphin level climbing Everest is different than that when riding the biggest roller coaster you can find?

joanie

Yes, I think I could have an abortion if I were raped. Haven't been tested on it, however. :)

Fremont

Roller coasters! That's where my endorphins went!! I want 'em back!! Both roller coasters AND endorphins!
Here's a scenario that just occurred to me....what if you were in a monogamous relationship, wanting to have a child, and you were raped during your peak fertility time? Would the potential of a rape-spawned birth (or rapist genes) affect your decision to abort?

Fremont

"fricking annoying 15 year old pimpleboy"
T-8, that has to be one of your best lines! LMFAO!

Tommy008

Frank was talking about putting his shoe up someone's butt the other day, now it's "assume room tempersture" about Saddam, and "rip me a new one" as a dare to callers. Next thing Frank will be starring in a Tarantino crime movie.

Tommy008

oh , and I read here he said "Ford will be in the ground by Thursday". Mr. Frankie- tough guy

Tommy008

hey Frank finally did something useful! He reccomended a good nonfiction book- The Innocent Man by Scott Turow. Thanks Frank, and don't say I never wrote anything nice about you.

joanie

I'd probably have a DNA test as soon as possible and make the determination then.

If it were fraternal twins and I could figure which was which, I'd probably abort the product of the rape if I could.

Gets tougher though . . . if the child were normal and I were trying to get pregnant, all bets are off. I admit that the health of the child is more important to me than its parentage . . . not sure, really.

chucks

Just a thought.
What if the rapist was caught and after serving his 10 months in county jail wanted to establish his parental rights?
I am one of those who is generally against abortion but realize that nothing can be etched in stone.
And sorry for the thought

Fremont

Yeah, that's a tough one....gawd! Fraternal twins? Won't you be happy when menopause eases the burden of rape spawn??! It will be so NOT a problem! (Horrible humor, Fremont!)
T-8, Turow is a fiction writer...you must mean John Grisham. I think "The Innocent Man" was based on a true story.

Liz

You'll know that Frank is serious in his threat of violence when he threatens to tell his mom.

Abortion and rape? It would depend on how traumatized I was following the rape.

Tommy. There was a lengthy excerpt of the book in a recent edition of Rolling Stone (can't recall which issue) but if you get a chance to pick it up, it's a good read.

Steve

What I would like to know from Fremont is if he was raped, would he get a edema right away or wait for the next time he has to take a shit to cleanse himself of the intruder.

sparky

Well, if Fremont WAS male I would be pretty certain that He would know that you meant enema, and not edema, unless said attack caused extreme water retention.

ew

FREMONT

Chux, your "just a thought" is, of course, a reality. Most states, but not all, have statutes that terminate parental rights of rapists. Recent federal case law stated that “No court has held that the mere fact of biological fatherhood that was the result of a conception during a criminal act and that is unaccompanied by a relationship with the child, creates an interest that the United States Constitution protects in the name of liberty.” In North Carolina, "Autumn's Law" was enacted because a rapist father threatened to withhold his consent to terminate parental rights unless the mother/victim refused to testify against him. In Florida, "Emily's Law" was enacted (outrageouly violating a woman's privacy rights, IMHO), when a rapist contested the adoption of his rape-spawned child. So, if it can happen, it will...I think Shakespeare said that.

FREMONT

Hey, St.Eve, I'd have a colonscopy right away...thus cleansing my body of all edema, ebola and e-coli!

Liz

Totally off topic here. I forced myself to watch Oprah tonight, it was a rerun with guest Barack Obama.

Has anyone here read his books? I am thinking one would be a good gift for my upcoming birthday. Not from you lot, but from my husband.

Tommy008

yeah sorry John Grisham- The Innocent Man, not Scott Turow I think this is total "documentary" type non-fiction . not even a "based on" type of book. Usually those are the best crime/prison books.

The Anti KIRO

Vacations Vacations Vacations!!!

Let's go KIRO...back to work!

What a benefits package at KIRO!

It's remarkable that KIRO can repeatedly plug the phrase that they're "Number 1"....what the hell does that mean???

The Anti KIRO

There's Turi again...calling her show in from San Francisco...pretending she lives right here in good 'ole Seattle.

HaHaHaHa...live and local my ass!

mercifurious

Turi is honey in the ear compared to Frank "Shudder" Shiers. Funny you should mention "live and local" Anti-Kiro/MID/Styble's bottom, because Turi did just mention the exclusive call-letters 710 KIRO. Discussing local issues too. Doesn't sound like she's broadcasting anywhere in SF, does she?

And despite Herr Falafeloofa calling for terrorists to blow up the Coit tower, we SeaWA folk love em. I'll take SF values over O'raly's Falafeloofa values any day. (Well, perhaps a loofa once in a while. And Falafel too, but not for bathing)

By the way MID/Styble-boner, if you miss your dearest Styble, I can give you his home #. Sounds like you miss him. sniff sniff

The Anti KIRO

Merc

Believe me she's broadcasting from San Frnacisco...

Jeffers broadcasts from Baltimore (albeit sometimes from Seattle)...

I don't know where the hell Brian Styble broadcasts from but he says the space needle is at hi back.

Little known secrets about KIRO

Turi sucks.

The Anti KIRO

Just go to turiryder.com

mercifurious

Merc

Believe me she's broadcasting from San Frnacisco..

Yes I know that, anti-KIRO/MID/Styblelover.

But her show is not a syndicate. It might be broadcast out of SF, but not towards an SF audience - all the phone numbers, Call letters, topics, etc. are directed towards SeaWA. Thus live and local. It's this new-fangled thing called "technology", MID

Note: Styble is not broadcasting anywhere (& thank cthulu for that). But just in case you're going through Styblehead withdrawals, I thought you would enjoy calling him at home - thats all.

Hell, Styblehead talking to you on the phone would only be 2 less than his normal audience. hahahahaha

Mike Barer

If anti-semitism bugged me that much, I wouldn't be reading blog comments. I find it amazing how people with these screwy ideas always blog anonomously.

Mike Barer

by the way, I love Goldy on the radio.

Steve

What no one here has ever hit the wrong key.

lukobe

you know, it's not antisemitic merely to call someone a Jew...

lukobe

Re Ford and Nixon, anyone read Christopher Hitchens' recent piece?
http://slate.com/id/2156400/fr/rss

FREMONT

Thanks, Lu'be...I'd forgotten about the snub of Solzhenitsyn...Ford wasn't simply ineffectual, he was conspiratorial.
Enough of the funereal Gerry-pandering...

mark

Gerry pandering: rearranging history? not bad!

Dana

"this amount of time off is offensive"

No, it's a relief....to the listeners. I'll bet his family dreads having him around.
