While in a drunken stupor induced by hyperproteinemia and an overdose of tryptophan, I finally got around to reading the paper today….
Bill Virgin writes in the Seattle P-I that, now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, two local stations KRWM-FM (106.9) or KCMS-FM (105.3) will be All Christmas, All the Time. This must somehow be a reaction to the War on Christmas™. I’m still looking for the All Qwanza All the Time or the All Secular Holiday Music, All the Time stations from the insurgency--failure so far. (Alternatively, you can go along with Goldy who, filling in for Dori and Ron Reagan on KIRO 710 AM today, suggests that the War on Christmas™ is manufactured outrage.)
Virgin also points out something, that in my current condition, strikes me as curious:
Good news for fans of the old-time radio compilation show "When Radio Was" -- it's coming back to the Seattle market. KIXI-AM (880) will carry the show at 10 p.m.-midnight Saturday and Sunday beginning this weekend.
But, but, wasn’t that just being played on KIRO 710 AM on Sunday nights? Maybe they dropped it within the last couple of months. Call me a curmudgeon, but the curious part is that anyone would actually attach the label “good news” to this.
Finally as a parting blow to another day of tryptophan-abuse in celebration of the Puritans introducing themselves (and their smallpox) to the indigenous people of the Americas, I offer you the all time greatest Thanksgiving day TV episode about a radio station….
"As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly."

"Oh my God....they're turkeys!!"
Gonna be a long time before that's not funny.
ps...Bailey's still hot.

Darryl, you must be a young'n. The other night, PBS did a retrospective on the early comedians who paved the way for people such as Robin Williams and Billy Crystal. Those old shows were an important step in creating entertainment on radio and then television. Those shows are kind of fun to listen to...certainly preferable to Frank, the Sty or those damn truckers.

I also enjoy listening to Old Time Radio. There is an online site that plays OTR about 22 hours a day: www.yesterdayusa.com.

Darryl, my deepest gratitude! THIS is an all-time classic...WKRP!
(Bailey is bailing...too much schmaltz and colorization...I blaspheme!) WKRP, MASH, I Love Lucy, Seinfeld...these are vintage Americana and..."spongeworthy"!

Hey, Tommie, you fibber. I tuned in expecting to hear Carl and I got Frank! So what's the deal?

Bill Virgins comments about OTR just proves that even he does not listen to KIRO anymore. They have driven off their most loyal fans (I used to be one) and are so boring that even the critics do not listen anymore. Of course, this has been a boon to KUOW and KTPK 1090. The rest is dreck.

haha Carl pulled a swithcheroo this week. He filled in for Frank yesterday evening from 9 to 12, for some reason. His regular night has been Saturday for several weeks.

hahaha It's not nice to try to sneak onto KIRO for a few stolen Frankfree hours, Joanie. Frank got wind pf your plans and foiled you. "Frankism" is now the required official station religion of KIRO.

Folks, I've been lying to you. I've been listening religiously to Midnight Trucker, and signed up for truck driving school after listening to their ad , the first week the show started running. I decided to give up my artsy fartsy/pinko dreams and become a real man who drives a big rig and listens to Trucker Radio. This weekend was to be my graduation and first run on my own tonight, from Seattle to Olympia with deliveries in Tacoma. I've just taken out the back side of a QFC in Tacoma with my bigrig. HELLP! and just the other night i was out on the dance floor , yelling "Freebird", as my new buds screamed, "Tommy's got his beer goggles on!"

Thanks for a very nice chuckle, Tommie. I'll be thinking of you on that dance floor as I move off into dreamland. . . :)

Hey! I love OTR -- it was the only thing I would listen to on KIRO. Thanks for the tip on where to tune.
