  • Talker's Magazine

  • The Reagan Wing

Well-written, and flaming.

sparky

Keith Olbermann will be "speaking" about this tonight...can't wait.

SpeedyEd

U.S. Constitution, Article I, Section 9.

The Supreme Court has previously ruled, in the Eisentrager case, that habeas corpus does not apply to war prisoners held overseas.

sparky

How about the ones held here?

Scrilla

Held where? Padilla HAS H.C.
John Walker GOT H.C.
Ramzi Binalshibh does NOT get H.C.
That lawyer broad SHOULD have been tried for treason and conspiracy, but she got a fair trial. What kind of police state does that?

Scrilla

Michael,

140AM post?

Cabernet much?

coiler

Hey Scrilla, Bush just said "Any Citizen" he or Rummy deems an enemy.

What part of liberty have you given up, you traitor!

Public service request:

I would love to watch Keith Oberman, but my cable provider does not include MSNBC. Anyone wanting to do a good deed, please contact Wave Broadband @ 1.866.928.3123 or on website www.wavebroadband.com and ask them to include this channel?
I would be grateful! Thanks!

WTLH

1789-2006

(with the exception of 1861-1865, 1941-1945, but those we don't count 'cause those presidents have monuments)

coiler

crooksandliars.com will save the segment on their site, all you have to do is click it on later when it's posted.

Fremont

A sad day indeed! Olbermann: The Day Habeas Corpus Died

lukobe

no surprise though...the Brits just did away with double jeopardy!

umo

Habeas Corpus Delecti does not apply to terrorist suspects.

sparky

It applies to american citizens, and Bushler has successfully gotten a law from Congress that allows him to have anyone he wants arrested--including you, umo--and you dont get a lawyer, a phone call or told why you were arrested

joanie

That's right umo . . . all Bush has to do is declare you an "enemy combatant" and you are history. Even American citizens.

But, I guess it's okay with you guys. Anybody remember Steve Titus? Think it can't happen to you?

Slant Six.Five

AprilMayJune,
MSNBC has been available here in Port Orchard for a long time from Wave, not sure why you don't have it.

Fremont

OMG, Joans....I remember Steve Titus! He was wrongfully convicted of rape and, but for Paul Henderson's stellar journalistic investigation, he would still be incarcerated (had he not prematurely died of a heart attack three weeks before his second trial). Tragic story...Jack Olson wrote a book about Titus, "Predator". It can and does happen here!

KS

Why should the Geneva Convention apply to any terrorist who does not represent a country and is clearly an enemy of this country ?

KS

Why should the Geneva Convention apply to any terrorist who does not represent a country and is clearly an enemy of this country ?

Oly

WTLH is correct. This is hardly unprecedented. However, the fact that Abe Lincoln was equally ruthless in setting aside inconvenient sections of the Constitution in order to fight his war doesn't make Bush's actions any more palatable.

umo

Habeas Corpus rights are useless if you are dead. The 3,000 victims of the World Trade Center massacre died with the rights to habeas corpus. Fat lot of good it is to them now. The Arabs are trying to kill us. The President needs every tool to destroy those terrorist mofos.

Oly

"The Arabs" aren't trying to kill us. A few thousand psychos - who call themselves Muslims but would slaughter Muhammad himself if he stood in their way - are trying to kill us. Big difference.

If I have to choose between complete security with only partial freedom on the one hand, and complete freedom with only partial security on the other, I will choose the latter, thank you very much.

Totally agree! :)
