~~Who in the hell is Bob Van Dyne? Nobody has ever heard of him; he doesn't google up; he's been a mystery, a horse with no name. We now know why he's been hard to locate. He's the former DJ NoName, the morning (and “Afternoon Experiment”) guy bumped from Entercom rocker, The End (KNDD, 107.7FM) to install Adam Corolla during the musical chairs when Howard Stern went missing last January. Now he's a new voice on KIRO doing fill-in on the weeknightly 9p-1a. He has a sound that's too FM for us; not unlike Ronda & Donna, (m-f, 4-7p) also FM refugees newly given AM talk time on KIRO. Noname Bob is libertarian-leaning and a little lite on the issues, but like Ron & Dumber, he seems to be buckling down each morning to the 4-color meat of USA Today. It's all very depressing, frankly- he's rumored to be favored to get that important slot; which we were hoping would go to a liberal. The good news: he's not Frank "Shudder" Shiers.
~~What does blog success look like? A way ours does is that if you google, "MSN ratings boy's and girls on toilets" you'll get to BlatherWatch. If you like boys and girls on toilets, you might enjoy this.
~~1000 words you need to know about Rep. Dave Reichert.
~~Welcome Seattle Weekly, to the blogosphere. Treading a fruitful path and tred before them by print competitors, The Weekly has started a trio of blogs. Editor Knute Berger with his Mossblog; a political staff collaborative, the Daily Weekly; and an arts and metro staff collaborative called Post Alley. They join the Seattle Times' recent and instantly important political mecca Postman on Politics but were probably truly inspired by the success of arch rival The Stranger's fast-moving Slog.
~~Allan Prell will move back to the East Coast in September. He is still working on national syndication and told the Seattle PI's Bill Virgin- "While trying to line up something new in radio, Prell said he also has been working on "a very nasty book which will not be published as long as I'm in radio. I've got a lot of stories about talk radio, how it came to be and who controls it." We'll buy one, Allan.
~~Nepotism and intrigue? It's been rumored for months that bread crumb level management of KIRO is manipulated from the corporate puppetmasters at Entercom headquarters in Bala Cynwyd, PA. Conspiritorialists have been buzzing; buttressed by the tantalizing information that liberal talk host David Goldstein (KIRO Sundays, 7-10p) who was hired recently without previous experience, is a hometown boy from Bala Cynwyd, a close-in suburb of Philly.
~~Henry Rollins writes a letter to Ann Coulter. You do the cookin' honey, he'll pay the rent.

Actually, while the photos might be worth a 1000 words, I think the text counted for about 2000. Thanks for the link.

Sorry to take this off-topic...
Anyone know what the (current) status is on the Mike Webb situation?

>>the Styblehead its not funny! its Just bad radio !!!!!!<<
Oh I don't know - I think it's kind of funny to hear Styble's night parody of what a talk show host sounds like.
He's talk radio's version of Ron Burgundy.

I actually like Bob Van Dyne a fair amount. Former DJ or not - he's way more intellectual than Ron and or Don.
Not sure if I'd call him libertarian or not. I'm guessing he's more of a moderate-liberal.
Refreshingly he tries to focus on discussion / analysis as opposed to advocating his own position. Kind of like Dave Ross before he "came out" as a liberal when running for office.
I see him as one more sign that KIRO is again moving in the right direction.
Now just do something about Vinnie! Nice guy - but does anyone really tune into Kiro for shportz talk?

I made the mistake of listening to KIRO radio for a few seconds last night. Bob Van Dyne's topic of choice... "Is it cheating if you do it with a robot?"
And this is an improvement over Mike Webb? Or Erin Hart? Oh, how I miss having a progressive radio host to listen to 10pm- 1am!

Caytie, have you tried Mike Malloy on KPTK? Honestly, he's very close to Webb. Try him out.
If you can't get KPTK, you can get Al Franken on-line at 10 for about an hour I think.
Both worth the listen IMHO.

Corolla's quick wit, political incorrectness and testosterone are refreshing - 5 - 10AM weekdays on the End(107.7).

I'm listening to Bob Van Dyne right now for the first time. He isn't too bad so far. At least he doesn't seem to be conservative.
