~~Mike Webb update: he fired his fancy celebrity lawyer, Bradley Marshall who was probably too darned expensive for what he needs him for. We still expect him to cop a plea- besides what we've already reported, the charging papers say that the Geico Insurance (the company he's accused of ripping off) policy numbers are issued by computer in sequential order. Mike's policy number falls between two others bounded on the day after the accident; even though Mike claims he took out the policy the month before the accident. We predict a plea bargain will be negotiated, and Mike will plead guilty to something lesser; but will never not claim he's innocent. He's that kind of guy...His current attorney appears to be one Mark Larrafiaga of Walsh & Larrafiaga.

~~Worst radio commercial nominee, 2006: "The Toe-Tent is a totally new and unique product that solves an age old problem. The problem of twisted feet has been going on since the first caveman covered himself with the first animal skin. ~~Taped dayparts on KIRO? Well yes. Thoughtful reader Tom reports and we've now heard it too- Ron & Bomb, (m-f, 9p-1a) the shock jocks filling in Mike Webb's old slot, actually play old tapes of themselves presumably so they can get home early. Tom sez: "I’d never heard tape in any daypart [on KIRO] before, always live guest hosts when the regulars are absent. Poor show. They’re not even playing tapes from actual hires – it was tape of fill-ins. (I’d rather hear Dori tapes!) There goes 'live and local'.” We're betting KIRO has no idea that's happening- this is the station who does no airchecks- we hear it over and over from talent, "It's obvious," one told us recently, "they've never heard my show."

~~Not sure whether it was because BlatherWatch kept linking to it, (we'd like to think so) but Ron & Bomb's old morning show website with all the bare-naked wimmens (they flopped on The Buzz only a few months after they started) has been closed down tighter than a smut shop in Lynden. We can't take all the credit, there were some complaints from listeners, and while we like looking at the ladies as well as the next guys, and believe that sluts are an unfairly maligned underclass; we were glad to see the site disappear- just because of the way those two kept leering like Neaderthals.

~~A sharp Seattle caller on the John Carlson Show, got neocon Senator John McCain on the record about Terry Nelson, his senior aide 's dubious past. He was involved with Tom DeLay and his co-defendants trying to circumvent Texas campaign finance laws and is tied to the New England phone-jamming scandal. Here's the audio from Talk Check, a cool blog we just discovered which, if they get busy, may mean they'll listen to talk radio and we won't have to! McCain, beloved by so many progressives, is a sham and as conservative as your Aunt Toodie. Don't be fooled just because the conservatives hate him...

~~OK, OK, Erin Hart may still be on staff at KIRO (we reported yesterday that she wasn't) but she doesn't work there...at least for KIRO. She does use their studios to do national fill-in particularly for Clear Channel's 760 progressive talk in Denver. Lou Pate uses their studios for fill-in work too, probably not for anything progressive, however.

~~It's so funny to hear the fatuous Bill O'Reilly waxing self-righteous about child molesters- kids are about the only females he wouldn't think are fair game for his creepy dandlings. MSNBC's Keith Olbermann has a great piece of video with Media Matters' David Brock talking about how he and his research staff systematically monitor The Big Giant Head, and how The BGH smears him and any media entity that disagrees with him.

~~Pat O'Day, that AM radio icon of Seattle's Pepsi Generation finally got around to wishing us happy birthday (it was Feb. 20). We're pretty proud of it because: a) he's a Republican b) he knew The Beattles. They weren't known for hanging around that much with conservatives, so that speaks to Pat's (we always call him Pat) good taste and great charm which he's now extended to us:  "May I commend BlatherWatch on one year of service to the World in general and our Seattle Market in particular. "The Blathe" as I affectionately call it, ruffles feathers, brings discomfort, and creates general havoc, but only with those that richy deserve such stimulation. Dori's show is an act. He get's paid his 6 figure salary to suspends his notion of who he is and what he stands for three hours.
His intention is to please management with high Nielson ratings for his target audience. I'm not a friend of Dori, but I admire his hutzpa and resourcefullness to challenge the status quo and purposivley take the other side of the 9-nooner shift and Rosses point of view. You can listen to all the NPR, KVI, HOMO and satellite radio you want, but pound for pound, wit for wit, integity for integrity and news writing skills for news writing skills, the 710 KIRO NEWSTAFF is hands down, one of the best nationwide. Let me see anyone of you take a breaking story of a carjacking off the scanner, confirm it with SPD, get audio and write a quick lead with a sound bite that doesn't repeat any words that are in the lead, followed up with a one sentence outtro. And at the same time look up on Mapquest where the incident occurred, dispatch a reporter on the two way, while listening to the pursuit on NOW two scanners. I dare to say you bloggers would crap your pants and blow a fuse, if you had to perform those "regular" job responsiblities.

A sports announcer whiffed his words, while actually paying condy some heavy duty compliments about her intelligence and how it would be a good thing if she were in charge of the NFL. In his attempt to say " this would be a coup for blacks" at the same time thinking " this would be a "boon for blacks," he really screwed up and said " this would be a coon"...and immediately recognized what he had done and apologized. The head of the NAACP called the station and demanded that he be fired, which they did.
He was on another radio show and told how it all came down.

It's personal preference to say "I prefer heavy black woman to heavy white woman" but it's racist to say with no uncertainty "heavy black woman look better than heavy white woman" because that would mean there's an absolute difference in beauty between races, but beauty is never absolute.

I can relate to the preferencial sentiment though. I personaly prefer how more black woman's bodies hold extra weight. IMO they seem to keep a curvier, rounder, more feminine figure as they gain weight. But, IMO, most non-black woman who put on that same weight would become stocky, flaby, big bellied, big chinned, etc. That's just my feeble opinion though, I wouldn't expect anyone else to see things the way I do.
