Please God NO! Pate may not like Seattle but he connects with his callers, and actually listens to them. Styble is just awful, rambling on and on about how he's been there done that. Styble also loves to berate Coast to Coast AM, and the silly people who listen to that. Is he jealous that Art bell (now semi-retired) built such a huge nation wide audiance? Art bell found a niche and filled it like no else could. Isn't that the American way?

Tommy008

Tuned into Herr Pate's show last night and as I predicted he was gloating about the Seahawk's "loss" in the Superbowl. He said he "commended" (wow, watch with the lavish praise, big guy) the Seahawks for getting to the Superbowl, then added that they didn't deserve to be there. Huh? I simply cannot stand the sound of the man's voice or his creepy, mirthless little chuckle so I was out of his show in less than a minute. This Seahawks thing shows the absurd heights that Pate's pathological hatred of Seattle has risen to. Because Seattle is the home of the Seahawks he has to make up negative fictions about the team. Not only did they deserve to be at the Superbowl, they simply outclassed Pittsburgh, with their actual score of Seattle 28 to 24Pitt.( as opposed to the officials bogus score). So this is great news that Pate's days are numbered. I hope and pray it's true.

Tommy008

sorry i meant actual score was Seattle24/ Pitt.21

At the end of the day almost half of the 40 Super Bowls have been won by only three teams. But don't feel so bad, the first time Dallas went to the super bowl they lost too. The officials weren't playing the game the Seahawks were, they just could not seal the deal.

Tommy008

Seal the deal? what crap. Everyone said the game was going to be close, so you know ther e are going to be a very limited number of scoring opportunities by each team. When you hobble a team by cheapshotting them and outright defrauding them with nonsense calls every time they make a big play, and fail to overturn an obvious nontouchdown that was challenged, you are effectively taking away their victory. You're spouting the cliched nonsense that our litte KIRO RADIO postgame analysts were spouting bacause they are scared of offending the NFL, thinking they might lose their little pissant positions. The guy at Foxsports.com wasn't worried about the NFL and he said the officials basically took the game victory away from the clearly better team , the Seahawks. John Madden, Steve Young and Michael Ervin on ABC said essntially the same thing.

It is amazing how many people who claim to depise Lou Pate somehow never seem to miss any of his shows. They can quote in minute detail everything Pate talks about every single night.

it, A True Progressive

Back to work Monday and Tommy008 still listens to Lou Pate. As noted below, once again in his own words, Tommy008 cannot seem to get of enough of "Herr Pate." Tommy008, if you "cannot stand the sound of this mans voice" as you claim, then why oh why tune in regularly. Can't wait for Critter and Joanie to tell us how they also did not listen, but seem to know everything he said.

Tommy008's quote is below.

Tommy008: "Tuned into Herr Pate's show last night and as I predicted he was gloating about the Seahawk's "loss" in the Superbowl. "He said he "commended" (wow, watch with the lavish praise, big guy) the Seahawks for getting to the Superbowl, then added that they didn't deserve to be there. Huh? I simply cannot stand the sound of the man's voice or his creepy, mirthless little chuckle so I was out of his show in less than a minute."

Yes yes we know, you turned it off after a minute and a little birdie told you everything he said. That tale is getting old. Face it, you love to hate the guy.

recife

tommy008, typical Seattelite..... It ain't my fault, it's everybody else's. Face it, the final score has been recorded. Time to buck up and take it like a man. Like I said, Dallas didn't win thier first time out. But they also have 5 trophys now don't they........HA,HA

eileen

The first time I heard Styble-head, he said in his announcement about who and what he was - that he wouldn't ever entertain callers that did metaphysics, astrology, etc.

Its too bad that he doesn't realize that per capita, psychics and astrologers and the like get way more call-ins for talk shows. The last time I looked, thats what talk shows are about.

I've been on Lou's show a few times - and I thank him for at least talking about those kinds of subjects. I may not always agree with him, but every time I've been on, or talked to him, he's been nothing but respectful.

Tommy008

It- you're now officially on "ignore". Have a nice life.

Tommy008

Eileen, Lou was respectful to you because he's what's known in corporations as a "kiss-up/kick-down" employee. In corporations it's a little different, since the KU/KD guy is kissing up to his bosses. You're not technically a boss of Lou, but you fill basically the same role, and he is going to kiss-up to you. Then Lou kicks down his "inferiors", which is the way he thinks about his callers- the same way that the KU/KD manager at the corporation kicks down his underling employees, who he views with contempt.

Critter

Hey there, Michael, my friend. I'm not a "tweaker" nor a "baker" but I certainly am a late-night radio listener. I'm usually going to bed when most people's alarms are going off. That's just me.

Sooooooooo, it does matter to me who is on late at night/early morning. I confess that Styble was not exactly a soothing voice to listen to, but I'd take almost anyone over Lou Pate!

In answer to your question, I think Lou's demise will not be by his own hand...but by his own MOUTH! Good riddance. :)

sparky

Critter, just for variety, try to stream KGO, if you cant get it on your radio..810 AM...in the greater Seattle area it is overrun by a religious station, but you can stream it. Ray Taliafero is a liberal host..I dont agree with everything he says but he does his homework on issues. Lump hates him :-)

Critter

Thanks, sparky, will do. I found 1090 on my radio today and have been listening to Ed Schultz (I think that's his name). So far so good but I'll try KGO.

While I'm here, this is to Mr./Ms. it...

You said you "can't wait for Critter's response." Keep waiting it or Lou or whomever you are, because, like Tommy008, I'm done with you. *sigh*

Lump

sparky sez, "Critter, just for variety, try to stream KGO, if you cant get it on your radio..810 AM...in the greater Seattle area it is overrun by a religious station, but you can stream it. Oh boy do I!!!! He's a devout racist and hate mongerer and is so far left he watches the sun rise over the Golden Gate Bridge while the rest of the bay watches it set over the GG Bridge. At least old Bernie Ward has a little, albit damn little, more class. The best host is Gene Burns from 7-10
pm, a real libertarian and far more knowledgeable than them other two clowns.

I hate Seattle too

I listen to Lou Pate's show as much as I can, and love it. I especially enjoy the callers who are from Seattle and just don't get it. ("It" being everything.) This town is a joke. The only people who like it here seem to be the ones born here who have nothing to compare it too. Someone told me if you can last 7 years, you start to like it. I'm moving this spring and the only thing I will miss is the Lou Pate Show.

sparky

Buh-Bye

sparky

Gene Burns is pretty good, Lump.
Have you ever listened to Karel on weekend nights?

iknowitall

Byron Styble says he will not do metaphysics, astrology and alike. The reason being is he is still smarting from being rejected by C2C before they hired Noory. In a form of childish retaliation, he picks on C2C because of the rejection. If he cannot accept rejection in radio, he should move on.

Critter

I hate Seattle too:

Buh bye, Lou! Why don't you use your own name?

it, A True Progressive

Alas, Critter and Tommy008 might be done with me, but you most certainly are not done listening to Lou. By the way, you spend way to much time on this blog. Critter get a life and stop trying to figure out the identity everyone who posts here and get an identity of your own outside of your computer. So sad. Hey, can you feel Joanie fighting off the urge to write something?

lj

Must read article from Fox News on Zacarias Moussaoui:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,183910,00.html

eileen

IKnowitall - ahh now its clear about the metaphysics, et al, and why Bryan feels a bit stung by it. If I were C2C, I wouldn't have hired him either. Makes me wonder then - since he was trying out for that position with C2C, that perhaps he really has some kind of interest in the paranormal after all? One thing I know is that if you don't know about the stuff, you cannot talk about it - it helps to have personal experience with that. You cannot bluff your way thru that material - believe me I know, since I have been an astrologer for 16 years.

Tommy008

hey "I Hate Seattle Too" Don't let the screen door hit you in the ass on the way out. If you hate this place you're doing the right thing by leaving and not making a complete jackass and putz out of yourself by hanging around year after year and telling people how much you hate it here. The fact that you or Lou hate this city really means nothing to the rest of us because one man's haven city is another man's helllhole- completely subjective. That's what a putz like Pate doesn't seem to get.

chris

Lumps sez: "The best host is Gene Burns from 7-10

What excately is a Libertarian?

Lump

Chris sez, "What excately is a Libertarian?"

chris

So you at 'it' then? Only one of you?

Nate

Okay, & now the final word from someone who get's it:

A.) Don't like Seattle? Time to weigh your "pros & cons" list & then leave (directed at Lou et al). I truly believe that some people move to Seattle to complain about Seattle.

B.) That said, I must use my favorite word again: Schadenfreude - Pleasure derived from the misfortunes of others. This new "Battle of the Talk Show hosts" is the GREATEST accidental idea KIRO never came up with.

After the Superbowl, KIRO is in a downward spiral. They're only hope is a good round of ratings-positive feudin' (planned or unplanned).

C.) Sorry about the poor scoop. The second I sent along the info, Bryan "Better ratings if I read the Byble" Styble decided to jumpstart the blog.

So yes, http://radioactivereactions.blogspot.com/
is alive again & ready for your scatalogical language sent at the speed of light.

anthonyinmi

I've been listening to Bryan Styble for months now, and I find his show to be one of the most interesting I've ever heard on talk radio. He's eccentric and he talks WAY too much, but he respects his listeners and the talk radio medium itself. I don't know what you people are talking about by saying that Styble is badmouthing Pate, or that he wanted to host "Coast to Coast." For one thing, I've never heard Styble say a bad word about Pate, and for another, why would such a science-oriented guy want to host a show about pseudo-science? At the risk of being scatalogical (heh heh), I think people are making shit up.

Tommy008

Tonight Herr Pate opened his program with a cornball gag, saying he had a gift basket of grapes in the studio. "Ewww they're sour grapes" he sid. "They're sour grapes." The imaginary grapes gag was a lead-in to another attack on the Seahawks and their fans. Falsely claiming that we were losing sympathy from the rest of the country by "whining" about the officials, he went on and on in his usual snarling, contumacious manner. The obsequious Gary added a word or two from behind the glass. Pate called Holmgren a loser for getting in a shot at the officials at the Quest Field assembly to honor the players, which he ridiculed for being too small. . It's amazing how Pate just pulls crap out of his butt that's not even true. If anything the sympathy is growing around the country for Seahawks fans. Being upset for 24 hours over having a Superbowl victory jobbed away from you by incompetent, poopheaded men in zebra stripes is not "whining". If it had been an NFL team from his beloved NYC that had gotten screwed, this hypocrite would be out leading the charge against the officials, if he was still working at a New York radio station. Anyway tonight I was able to listen to about 4 minutes before the sound of his voice became absolutlely too repulsive to continue, so I shut him off. I'm sure he's on a roll now and will continue to vent his pathological hatred of the Seahawks for hours.

SpamButcher

I heard Styble for what I believe to be the first time a few nights ago.

Started off sounding intellectual and skeptical - which is right up my alley.

But then he rambled on for about 20 minutes regarding exactly how intellectual and skeptical he was. Must have slammed Art Bell and crowd at least five times. Some of the worst radio I can recall in recent history. I really wanted to give him a chance - but it was just painful.

Just wouldn't shut-up about how good it was gonna be when he actually got around to saying something. Went back to Coast-to-Coast, where they may have been talking about bullshit, but at least they were talking about something.

Brian , Lacey wa.

I have had on Bryan Styble , and I can say , that he is a basket case , one strange Dude! I hope Gary Mantz, has a chance to host a weekend late night show he would be GREAT! on Friday , Saturday nights ! keep up the good work Gary !

Lump

sparky sez, "Gene Burns is pretty good, Lump.
Have you ever listened to Karel on weekend nights?"

For about as long as it takes to change the station. Can't stand his whiny voice or his whiny commenting. Another of the unfunny comedians out there.

sparky

I can take karel in small doses. But I have the same reaction to Dr Bill as you do to Karel...Dr Bill takes an average of about 2 minutes to let his listeners know how much more superior his knowledge about Everything In The World is than the rest of us peons. The short-lived feud between karel and Dr bill was hilarious.

Lump

sparky sez,"Dr Bill takes an average of about 2 minutes to let his listeners know how much more superior his knowledge about Everything In The World is than the rest of us peons."

I agree he can get a little overboard with his retoric. I enjoy the science questions as I have absolutely no clue as to what they are talking about most of the time. He broadcasts from his home in the Feather River Canyon area of No. Cal. I actually met him in a coffe shop in Quincy,California by recognizing his voice and butting into a converstion he was having.
He is a pretty smart guy though and very un politically correct.

it, A True Progressive

Tuesday 2/7/06 and Tommy008 is still listening to Lou Pate. Wow the guy is truly obsessed. At first in earlier posts I was kind of kidding, but Tommy008 and Critter really cannot post without mentioning this right wing mouth piece. This goes deeper folks. Get some counseling my faux progressive friends. It's back to work for me and back to 1090 and KGO before I hit the hay at night.

sparky

Why does It, a true Progressive, have a hard on for Tommy?

Lou, be man enough to post under your own name.

umo

Bryan Styble is such a horribe talk show host he is fascinating. He is riveting like a train wreck.

Critter

I agree, Dana, and said so earlier. It's either Lou or his "boyfriend" Gary (producer). I would think it might be his girlfriend he CLAIMS to have, but I doubt he really has one. Who would want to wake up to that jerk every morning? Blech!

Critter

Quote from it, a True Progressive:

"Tommy008 and Critter really cannot post without mentioning this right wing mouth piece."

Yo, dude! That's because this is a blog about TALK RADIO. Duh, get it? Try to follow the bouncing ball. Left foot, right foot, left foot, right foot....

mac tyler

Umo ... or more accurately, Lou Pate, your anti Bryan Styble posts are unprofessional. I listened to your rant against him, and you sounded like a natterer; very critical without manners and without good reasoning. Grow up.

Lee tacoma

Do you think Stock yard Vinne will ever talk about something else besides Football ? he also has good english , Dua, diss, dat, and a hole lot, of ugh, ugh , ugh, come on KIRO !

Critter

Lee tacoma:

I'm listening to Vinnie right now and I totally agree. I'm sad the Seahawks lost but it's time to move on. The Seahawks aren't complaining and the fans should take their lead.

They need to drop it. The past isn't going to get any better.

shaniqua

lee tac:

Vinnie won't drop it. he has a radio show and he needs something to talk about--a topic that will agitate callers and get them to call into a talk radio show. HELLO? What else would he talk about? his attempt to eat himself to death? Ya know?

ad guy

Why should KIRO worry about the overnights? They seem to have a lot bigger problem on their hands. The rest of the day. Ouch. And asking over $400 for a :60 spot in AM drive make them about the least efficient radio buy for any demo in the Seattle market. The jewel of the Entercom crown needs some polish, that's where they'll put their attention so all you late night insomniacs can rest east

Tommy008

For years we've been deprived of a decent live graveyard talkhost on westcoast AM radio, due to the fact that two toads have been sitting in front of the late night mics at KIRO and KGO. I've got a choice between the conceited, egotistical racist/fascist Lou Pate, and the hysterical leftwing loon Ray Taliaferro. I finally discovered I could stream on my pc the Curtis and Kuby show out of New York City's WABC at 2a.m. Seattle time. Civil rights attorney Ron Kuby brings the liberal balance and Curtis Sliwa is funny as hell. His heavy New York accent isn't unpleasant to listen to like Vinnie and Herr Pate, since his diction is good and clear. I still long for a decent, LISTENABLE KIRO graveyard host. It seems like Pate has been there for a torturous, endless eternity now, since he is so awful.
