FORGET KATRINA RELIEF, FORGET BREAST CANCER, THE SEATTLE NON-PROFIT KIRO AM RADIO NEEDS YOUR HELP!! BLATHERWATCH RECEIVED THIS REQUEST FROM ALLAN PRELL JUST MINUTES AGO...
In the past hour I have been informed that the computer at KIRO has failed. Three sites have gone down. One of them the former producer's of the Allan Prell show. She has not been able to receive messages since yesterday afternoon. I am sending an urgent request to someone who is computer literate to volunteer to repair the KIRO system. Otherwise it is very difficult for listeners to contact the station other than by telephone. That number is 206-726-7000 and ask for Jerry McKenna, he is the manager for all Entercom stations in Seattle. I am sure he is as interested in getting their system up and running as you are. I have never placed a phone number on the internet of this type, but obviously this is a unique situation.
As it is I am receiving hundreds of messages at and I am working constantly at answering messages. Honestly they are coming in at a pace that I haven't been able to answer those from last week.
And for those of you who have contacted KPTK. I have not heard from them, but keep in mind the General Manager will not return until tomorrow. I will attempt to inform you as the latest developments develop.
To those who don't like me, this is an obvious sophomoric attempt at keeping the pot boiling. To that I plead guilty. If you were in my position you might do the same thing. It sounds like something Jerry McKenna might do. Whoops, I just spoke the truth.
I have my weaknesses and I am doing my best to confront them. If there was a better way, I only hope I could find it.
Allan
Can the blatherwatch owner verify that the person with the address is really our beloved Allan? Thanks.

I got his address direct from Ann Wog so it should be legit

Yes, it's him. I've been in touch.
Keep going Allan! Don't let the bastards get you down.

[joke]
I don't understand why Allan is so desperate to have a job again. Being the big fat liberal that he is I assumed he would be enjoying all that good Goverment Cheese you get while being unemployed.
[/joke]
Allen, keep working hard to get back on the air. I thought you were a good piece of entertainment while I drove my big SUV by myself to work each morning.
Good luck!

Yes, this is Allan's address.
By the way, Michael, you might want to correct Allan's name in your headline (Allan not Allen). I initially emailed several times (the mail was returned undeliverable) to the mispelled name before finally figuring out that I had misspelled the name.
Keep the heat on...

Allen,
Maybe the KIRO system crashed due to the massive amount of email demanding your return to the air!

Chuckle, chuckle--
Allan, I wish we could hear you read your letter. It sounds exactly like you. I love your humor and I can imagine you reading it.
In all seriousness did you ever think you could stir up such of controversy?
Keep kicking and make it happen.
Your listeners want you to stay on a Seattle radio show.
My golly, if you could get on in the middle of the night I'd listen.
One of the many.

Serves 'em right, the cheap bastards. Their Kaypro system no doubt couldn't handle the influx of hate emails in the wake of Allan's firing. I know I sent a few! And I did indeed write to KPTK. First I complained about that annoying bitch they put on in place of the brilliant Morning Sedition. Good Christ but she is TERRIBLE! She thinks she's so damn smart and funny. She is neither. (But she is right-on politically, and damned good-looking too!) So I asked them to dump her, put Morning Sedition back on, leave the next two shows on, and then (ahem) replace Al Franken with "Al" Prell(!) Franken's not so great on radio, as it turns out. Allan IS a radio guy and knows how to do it. Hopefully they'll take my sage advice and make Al Prell a local phenom.

If anybody questioned KIRO's good judgement in choosing to fire Alan Prell's ass...Prell's bizzare psychotic messages to Blatherwatch should remove all doubt that KIRO management made the right decision.
Posted by: umo | October 05, 2005 at 06:32 PM
umo, what would a psychotic message have to do with making someone a bad radio host? Do you have a real complaint?
Posted by: Andrew | October 05, 2005 at 07:02 PM
Alan Prell does not need a radio job. He needs a psychiatrist. The man is obviously mentally deranged. Prell is a sad pathetic wreck of a human being. KIRO recognized that fact and wisely distanced itself from that psycho.
Posted by: umo | October 05, 2005 at 07:09 PM
You go Allan...I want you back on radio. KIRO has an ego that is certainly unjustified. Rah, rah for the little guy.

Kirk and Andrew, speaking of Psychotic, and Mentally Deranged.Your drug addict idol is on at 9 see ya

My bad, sorry Kirk and Andrew I would direct my comments to umo

I would rather listen to a mentally deranged lunatic than your average current KIRO talk show host.
Of course, I use NPR to put my kid to sleep, unlike most of the beard clucking, strip club hating seattleite.

Humm...you dont suppose this is all just a promotion stunt and in a week or so KIRO comes out with a **NEW AND IMPROVED LOW-CAL ALLAN PRELL SHOW** do you? Ok by me, but the old Allan was just fine.

Vote for Padro and Allan will come and cook you a tasty fish! Come on KIRO do the right thing and put Allan back to work.

So, I hated Allan Prell's voice, too, but only for a day or two. I was already a KIRO listener and my radio is always on at 9 am, so I stuck with him long enough to become his fan! (No other radio departure has ever left me feeling depressed enough to search the web for information. I think I'm going through withdrawal.)
Since I'm generally too lazy to change the station, that meant three hours of Dori, but I could stand him as long as he only whined about the monorail, or "pervert" artists, or spoke incessantly about his own triumph over poverty due to his superior "personal choices", or hawked the products he got for his new house. It was his political rants that finally drove me to just turning off the radio until time for Dave.
But now, with no Allan, or even Tony, there's no point in even tuning in KIRO except for Dave Ross, whom I like and respect.
My inner adult appreciates Dave's wisdom, but Allan is my inner child's best friend, and I want and need him to come back to play!
Posted by: duddo | October 09, 2005 at 02:43 AM
I say Ditto on everything Duddo says. Dori has become a pain over the last few years, emboldened by Bush's win and all the patriotic fervor since 911. I turn off KIRO as soon as he comes on. Allan took some getting used to, but he definitely grew on me. I want Allan back, but if I could really have my way Dave Ross would be back on from 9 to noon and Allan in the late afternoon time slot. Oh, and by the way. Who the heck is Frank Shires?
