Another one here, piping up for Allan Prell. Upon first listen, I found him irritating, but within a week I came to adore the man. Now, he's gone, and all I have left of him is my mini-bumperstickers from the Battle of the Talkshow Hosts. Let's hope his new home streams him online.

David d

I'd love to hear from KIRO, I don't think they've been listening to the listeners for a long time

krice

get real. there just a huge out of town corporation who never listens to consumers unless they hire a big expensive marketing research company...they'll go their own way...maybe they'll get lucky and get some of us back, maybe they won't. I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for them to take BM's offer.

Andrew

So are there some ratings available to indicate how Prell, Dori and Dave Ross compared to eachother within the last month?

I'm not sure why people are suprised he was let go on a Wednesday. I figured he was let go on that day because he said he was going to a "class reunion" or something for the rest of the week so it was an oppurtune time to do the deed. Then again I'm not sure I believe the class reunion story. Maybe he knew he was leaving and that was just an excuse of some sort.

Theresa

Idiots! Allan was the best thing you have had going for a long while. I listened to NPR all morning because I could not STAND what you had on. You are such whimps.

Kirk

I agree: IDIOTS indeed! Allan was the most alive and engaging host on that godforsaken station. And the cadavers they've had on since firing Allan are unlistenable. Allan got me away from NPR; now I've gone back to it.

An open letter to Blathering Michael:

You, sir, are a hypocritical ass.
For months on end you have ranted and raved against Allen Prell, repeatedly calling him an ass-hat.

Now, you suddenly want to seem like you have some sharp ear for radio talent and have known all along that Prell was special.

It was probably the incessant braying of asses like you that led to his demise. I'm assuming you've never had any genuine success in the media business, or, for that matter, any business at all.

dave

another voice joins the chorus. alas, poor allan, you da man. C'mon allan give us a post.

Ken

Allan Prell was Everyman, fussing about a cheap lawn mower that wouldn't start... unpretentious and sincere about whatever he was talking about. You want to hear regurgitated politics and more of the same ol same ol? Then tune in now-- what a waste.

blathering michael

An Open letter to Mr. Coferium:

I haven't changed my mind about Allan Prell. I didn't like his style and have never said otherwise. I'm not the only one--he wasn't popular with sufficient numbers of the 25-54 demographic to stay in this market. I'm astounded though, by the literally thousands of extra google hits we're getting from his avid supporters. I'm hoping KIRO management will address them here.
Not sure why you segued into assumptions about my professional life, but in passing I'll remind you that the braying of assumptions are a fool's paradise and you seem very comfortable making them.

Ro

I miss Allan's inelegant, barking laugh. I couldn't help but grin everytime he'd let 'er rip. Sorry to see you go, Allan. Hope to hear you again someday.

DonD

I didn't like him one bit and him taking Dave Ross' place is what drove me away from KIRO. Prell should blog. He's got the voice and personality for it, and then everyone could find him rather easily.

Stuck for an hour in traffic coming home tonight and not a single local radio station worth listening to. I guess it's time to either go satellite or start paying attention to podcasting.

KH

God Please KIRO don't bring Allen back.. He was to any sane human unlistenable. His sing song voice and better than thou attitude meant after years of listing to KIRO in the morning I was stuck with NPR.

The only reason I can imagine anyone liked the man was he sang the local refrain of "Hate Bush First, Think Later"

Please can we have a thinking Liberal, not another embrassing Bush Bashing Lemming. That changes no one's minds, it is opiate for the unthinking masses. It's why Democrats can't win, people want ideas, not mindless hate.

It is bad when the most intelligent critisms of Bush come from the hosts that voted for him.

No Allen, can we clone Ross?

MJ

I usually don't post things online, but I have no other meaningful way to mourn the loss of Allan Prell.

He had character and brains, despite the fact he pretended not to.

After many years of listening to KIRO, I regret to say that I will now boycott their remaining BORING lineup.

Matt

I wrote to KIRO to get Allan hired after he subbed for Dave, and my company ran ads on his show exclusively, which we have now dropped. Bring back Allan Prell!! KIRO now sucks from 9-3 daily, and many of us fans are moving on.

Bob in Auburn

Frank Shiers is the biggest BORE and his laugh make me sick to my stomach.

Thanks KIRO :-(

Di

KH---that is EXACTLY what I meant in previous posts. Allan has brains, character, but he pretends because this is his schtick. A lot of listeners never picked up on this.

Personally I think Allan could drop some of the pretend bumbling and show the world what a sharp mind he has. I picked up on this the very first day I heard him and sent him an instant message stating same. He has a mental database that can hold up against most any challenger.

God, I hope some station in the Seattle area picks him up!

Di

Oh dang it!!!!!!
I needed to refer to MJ not the post before. Now I have very red cheeks
