These hyper-religious so-called pro-lifers say they're anti-abortion but their real agenda is anti-sex. If we lose the abortion choice in this country: look for them to come after contraception choice next.

JESUS H. CHRIST, Michael. Get a grip.

blathering Michael

I know you're old and wise, Duane, but like so many of us getting on, your memory's bad...or weren't you paying attention in 1994-96 when the Republican religious right ran the Legislature?
There were bills to outlaw certain kinds of birth control and gynecological procedures; putting an 18 yr. old age limit on condoms; and requiring prescriptions or a marriage certificate for all kinds of contraception; for re-instating sodomy laws; putting fault back into divorce and making adultery the main issue of that.
The religious goofballs have a lot of clout in your party, Duane and they hate sex--unless it's in the confines of their parochial idea of the marriage bed.
Your party is dominated by Southerners- and these religion-based precepts and more are being promoted in an organized manner all over the country--many of them are already codified in the south.
Read what Rev. Hutcherson has to say on the subject: He'd outlaw cohabitation. He believes--and he told me this--the gov't, the culture as a whole, has an interest in what adults do in private.
They've declared war on sex in this country and it's all couched in the abortion issue, but it's sectarian and authoritarian. Why else would that Focus on the Family flack in my post denigrate NARAL as 'pro-contraception?'
They hate our freedom--they don't want us to fuck.
The American people won't buy it, if you give 'em a chance to consider it, but usually they don't even know about it--most of the zealots' efforts are stealthy. They try to sneak things by on local administrative levels using their new-found federal bureaucratic clout.
By the way, is 'Get a grip' what passes for political comment from you these days? get a new cliche and let's have some of the pithy stuff you're known for instead of these pea-shooter attacks.

Perhaps if the Right "gripped" themselves more often.....

As one who works with kids, I will proudly tell you that abstinence is, indeed, taught willingly to students. The difference is, kids see first hand how hypocritical adults are about sex..when religious and political leaders--on both sides of the aisle--cannot keep it in their pants, kids roll their eyes when they are told about the "dangers" of "doing it." When adults can walk their talk, they will become much more convincing to children they hope to influence. In the meantime, do we let kids get sexually transmitted diseases or become pregnant because they refuse to follow advice, or worse, are not allowed to learn about safer options if they, like the adults in their lives, are going to ignore that advice to be abstinate???

oh, and..the Screw Abstinence party is a stupid idea. Thanks a lot guys, for making my job harder.

Michael says:
"They hate our freedom--they don't want us to fuck."

You don't think republicans like SEX?

I assume you think the high rates of STD's in Seattle makes you feel all warm and fuzzy. How about some responsibilty with all your sport fucking?
Seattle LEADS the west coast in most STDs, including HIV transmission. It was front page news sometime back on your beloved Seattle Post Intelligencer.
Fuck on, pal.

blathering Michael

you're changing the subject, Duane.

Sparky and I can agree on this point - this fundraiser is a stupid idea.

KIRO-AM is still the highest rated talk radio station in Seattle.

blathering Michael

Wrong. No.1 talk station is KVI. KIRO is a news/talk station and you're right, it's no.1 in that category...You better thank the Lord for the morning news; pray the Mariners never hire anyone young and that Allen Prell is replaced by Rush Limbaugh.

Bring on the sex:
Local prosecutors are apparently in a bind: How do they charge a blind Tallahassee man who has been accused of having sex with his guide dog?

Florida, like many other states, has no bestiality statute - that is, a law specifically prohibiting sexual contact between humans and animals.

Detectives are investigating the possibility an Enumclaw farm was the base for a ring that abuses animals for sex. And what they've done is not illegal in Washington State.

In a picture-perfect corner of rural King County, Sheriff's investigators uncovered a dirty little mess: Men having sex with animals at a small farm outside of Enumclaw.

The private gatherings became public when a 45-year-old Seattle man died after having sex with an Arabian stallion.

I'm sure you'll have points to cover this fine activity.

blathering Michael

Fascinating stories, Duane, these sad, hidden activities are definitely the result of sexual repression. Bestiality was big in both the Puritan and Victorian cultures when regular sex was kept taboo and dirty by the same orthodoxy advocated by the Christian right of today.

the guy with the horse, that's gay and disgusting. Ihe guy with the dog? If the dog was a female, what's the harm?

Mark Daniels

The guy should of had a pony, not a stallion.

Republicans fuck pigs, don't they?

"Republicans fuck pigs, don't they?"

Only when Hillary Rodham was a Goldwater Girl.

Republicans fucking anything is cruelty to animals, and the Humane Society and US Congress should investigate these scurrilous activities!
