-Erin Hart, part time KIRO (Sat & Sun, 9p-1a) liberal talker did the morning drive on AA outlet, AM 760 Denver/Boulder’s Progressive Talk KKZN this morning.
Hart, as reported by BlatherWatch, has applied at Seattle’s Air America station, AM 1090, as a local talker for the morning drive. Coincidence? The similarities between the two jobs are obvious. In a call to blatherWatch, Hart leaves us all the room in the world for some licentious speculatin’ (which is what we love to do best anyway).
She wouldn’t deny reports that she’s applied to AM1090, but she said no when we asked if she’s being tried out by Air America in Denver to see how she’d do in the early morning in Seattle.  “But,” she said, “you never know who might be listening.”
Hart, modestly self-described on her website as thought-provoking, feisty, compassionate, pithy, outrageous, unpredictable and bilingual in Spanish, is a part-timer for KIRO; she has no contract, she can fly, anytime, anywhere.
Not so, Mike Webb (recently honored by blatherWatch as the 3rd least humble talk host in the Seattle market) also rumored to be looking at Air America,who theoretically has a contract and wouldn’t be able to work in the Seattle market for a proscribed length of time--maybe 6 months or a year. (Although he's certainly eligible for a pain-in-the-ass waiver).

-Thoughtful progressives all over the region are wondering if they should be worried at the news that brilliant longtime producer Arvid Hokanson of Weekday (KUOW m-f, 9-11a) will be leaving the show to become KUOW Assistant Program Director, a new position at the NPR all-talk outlet. His last day is Friday, 5-20. Rumors that Weekday will run Gutter Helmet spots and begin Open Line Fridays are apocryphal, Hokanson says. Assistant Producer Katy Sewall will fill in while a national search for a new producer is underway. Weekday, hosted by the indomitable, yet inscrutable Steve Scher, is certainly the widest-ranging two hours on local radio and has been rewarded with great ratings, even when the topic is Eastern Washington water distribution or the politics of British Columbian trout ranches.

-Ed Schultz (AM 1090 m-f, 12-3p) is coming to town  June 13th and doing his show live from noon-3p at the Seattle Town Hall. Order tickets from Brown Paper Tickets  Monday 5/23/05. The Fargo-based Big Eddie is a Jones Radio Networks liberal talker challenging red state conservatives in their own backyards.  Proceeds from the event will benefit First Place.
