Longtime former KCBS Radio reporter George Harris, who spent 24 years at the station as a reporter and anchor until his retirement for health reasons in 2011, died last night. Blogger Rich Lieberman posts that Harris, who lived in Hayward, died of kidney failure. He was 61. KCBS reporter Bob Butler, who worked with Harris for many years, posts a tribute on his Facebook page. Aside from his radio career, Harris had also done stints in television news, at KING-TV in Seattle, and, for a time, at KRON 4.
Former KGO-AM talker Stacy Taylor, who worked with Harris at KING-AM said, "Sad to learn that a great old friend of mine has died. Many laughs when we worked together at the old KING-AM in Seattle, in the days when radio was a candy store and we were all just kids."
