right-wing blogs we like
The Reagan Wing Hearin lies the real heart of Washington State Republicans. Doug Parris runs this red-meat social conservative group site which bars no holds when it comes to saying who they are and who they're not; what they believe and what they don't; who their friends are and where the rest of the Republicans can go. Well-written, and flaming.
Orbusmax inexhaustible Drudgery of NW conservative news
The Radio Equalizer prolific former Seattle KVI, KIRO talk host speaks authoritatively about radio.
Conservative talk radio was invented in Seattle, now it’s as endangered as the wild Puget Sound salmon. and let’s face it, save Dave Ross, there ain’t no local liberal talk.
With the KVI’s elimination of Kirby Wilbur, another block of local airtime went to out-of-town, out-of-touch, syndicated blabbermeisters- sending a butt-load of ad $ somewhere else.
Latino activists are declaring victory tonight as fatuous xenophobe Lou Dobbs (KKOL m-f, 6-8p) announced he’s leaving CNN, a company he helped found. After 30 years, the network allowed him to be released early from his contract- his last show was tonight. Dobbs will keep his radio show which has nothing to do with CNN.
Dobbs’ senile, anti-Hispanic, birther ramblings have embarrassed the cable network which is prides itself on maintaining some semblance of objectivity and a long record of racial fairness.
Seattle liberal-interest money groups have long talked up the possibility of buying a radio station to counter the overwhelmingly conservative news talk stations in a market that's overwhelmingly liberal.
That's probably not a good idea, since it's been proven many times that radio should be left to radio professionals...Oh wait, that's right, a generation of professionals put radio where it is today: in the shit.
Linda Thomas, the honey-voiced KIROFM fill-in newsie whose work we've often admired, wrote a happy-face reader blog post about Seattle conservative talk radio host at Seattlepi.com
(photo: dittohead in "listening position.")
Her blog, News Chick is not journalism but rather for branding purposes and to promote her radio work. The self-promotion here, is in the form of a breezy, well-written, journalistic feature.
A glorious Cinco de Mayo to you. It's a great day because it's a Mexican holiday marked by the drinking of tequila cocktails but marred by that it's another day that WTKK in Boston has not fired their violence-stoking white supremacist talk host Jay Severin.
Dennis Miller, the former SNL comedian, sports caster turned libertarian, security conservative radio talk host and will take over KVI's 9 ta noon slot in early February. He left the Seattle market when KKOL flipped to business talk early this month.
The KVI slot is now filled with Dr. Laura Schlessinger who tells young women and gay men why they shouldn't sleep with their boyfriends. She tersely supports wives who are having trouble serving and servicing their husbands on demand as, she believes, is their Biblical role. (Laura's never lasted long in this market, though she's tried many times).
Joe Gandelman is the editor at The Moderate Voice, a wry and respected independent political blog. Last week he drove up the California coast where the radio choices are none but right-wing talk.
He writes: "... unless you’re a Republican partisan, this week conservative talk radio seemed infiltrated by Democratic Party moles doing caricatured, extremist off-the-wall broadcasts guaranteed to convince independent voters listening in to vote for Democrats." You think the rhetoric, verbal extremism and unbottled rage displayed at Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain’s recent rallies is something?"
Sarah Palin, our "normal Joe six-pack
American finally represented in the position of vice presidency" of the United States -- just a lentigo maligna
away from the presidency if the guy with 3 relapses of melanoma is elected -- was on the Hugh Hewitt Show Tuesday (KKOL m-f, 3-6p).
We were going to fisk this, but we decided it stood on its own, doncha know... Here's the transcript:
