We haven’t followed the Amanda Knox case too closely, but this car radio button-pusher was glued to KOMO1000 as they simulcast Channel 4’s Dan and Kathy with a live feed from Peruggia in the wait for the verdict.

The cop murders in Lakewood, and the Maurice Clemmons manhunt was like bad weather: made for live and local news talk radio.
It’s what radio does best. It gave instantaneous coverage and breaking news talk about a story that really matters to Puget Sound locals.

It was a radio community based on breaking news you can use.

Watching the historic health care debate on C-Span, we marveled at our senators actually working on a Saturday. (yea, Sen. Franken!)
But Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and the Mr. Doctor Michael Savage say
this is “rape” of the Land of the Free by the president and the Democratic congress! Dori Monson says it's criminal.

Billy Bob (whose name is neither Billy nor Bob) worked long in
the Seattle radio market wearing a suit. He says the experience
heightened his sense of irony, augmented his influences, and diminished his circle of friends.
By Billy Bob
Soon, we may run out of radio people to talk about, but
until then, step aside Dear Abby. For I have some more of our readers’
bone-headed questions and my incredibly insightful retorts.
Dear Billy: I see all this crap
on your stupid Blatherwatch and the message boards
attacking Bonneville for firing morning news gal Jane Shannon from KIRO's Gregg Hersholt
show. But don't you think Bonneville knows what they're doing? The
ratings are at an all-time low. Revenue is off. I'm sure they do research
and I'm sure they had good reasons for getting rid of Jane. Signed, Eastlake Insider
Dear EI: Yes, Jane Shannon is primarily
responsible for KIRO's decline.

Another producer for the silly Ron & Don Show? Not news- they use up producers like nasal inhalers.
But Jason Stein, of LA's KFI has been hired away from his enviable position at the #1 talker in the country, to make the smart radio consumers of Seattle listen to R & D (KIROFM m-f, 3-6p).

It's hard to believe that anyone believes that red-baiting would work in 2009, but talk radio and Fox News blabbertalent keep hammering away on administration officials who might have quoted Mao at some time in their careers.
