Lou dobbs exits CNN, finally!

Latino activists are declaring victory tonight as fatuous xenophobe Lou Dobbs (KKOL m-f, 6-8p) announced he’s leaving CNN, a company he helped found. After 30 years, the network allowed him to be released early from his contract- his last show was tonight. Dobbs will keep his radio show which has nothing to do with CNN.

Dobbs’ senile, anti-Hispanic, birther ramblings have embarrassed the cable network which is prides itself on maintaining some semblance of objectivity and a long record of racial fairness.

It's hard to believe that anyone believes that red-baiting would work in 2009, but talk radio and Fox News blabbertalent keep hammering away on administration officials who might have quoted Mao at some time in their careers.

Glenn beck: volunteerism is an obamunist plot!

(We're fighting an old computer while buying a new one- the object of our recent fund raising drive. Until our new equipment's in place, we'll be blogging a little light).

There's a Fall teevee campaign to encourage volunteerism that's sponsored by the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), a Hollywood charitable organization. They'll be running positive messages about community service and civic participation across 60 shows in plot lines, and teevee scripts.

Rush Limbaugh called MSNBC's Joe Scarborough "a neutered, chickified moderate" on Thursday.

Friday, he fired back, "I'd be careful. If I had put my testicles in a blind trust for George W. Bush for eight years, I'd be careful ..."

Former Republican congressman Scarborough is running for something for sure, but no matter what he runs for, it sure sounds like he'll have a rough primary.

David brooks: "Rush blared the trumpets, but few of his dittoheads advanced."

We loved reading the NYT's David Brooks (our favorite conservative) Friday, about how little Rush Limbaugh, and other right-wing blabbermeisters media actually effect voters, and real polling numbers. How Republicans have bought the "Media Mythology," that's nothing but a small-ball tactic that retards their wandering back in from the desert.

Billy Bob: BECK, BECK, & MORE BECK

~~ He didn't want to be seen supporting a competing station, so John Carlson attended the Glenn Beck/Safeco Fest wearing his Archie McPhee black plastic glasses with attached nose and mustache.  One freedom fester thought he looked like Groucho Marx and got the crowd chanting, "Marxist, Marxist!"

~~ Was Glenn Beck was wearing Teflon skivvies when he came to town?  How else to explain why a certain KTTH afternoon talk host's lips didn't stick to Beck's hind parts?

~~ Dennis Kelly teeth-gnashing alert: Are Fisher brass second-guessing the KVI PD about why he never picked up the Glenn Beck Show? (KTTH m-f,6-9a) His syndicators begged to be on KVI.  

~~ What's worse, one renegade mayor giving a meaningless key to the city to Glen Beck, or a tax-payer built community institution like Safeco Field hosting a formal event for Beck? Sure, they weren't official sponsors. But when Beck was on the jumbotron at Safeco, the ads surrounding his visage were for UW Medicine, Wells Fargo, Alaska Airlines and Verizon. Just in case their marketing types want to know. Beck ain't Ichiro!

~~ Never thought I'd say this, but, thanks to Frank Shiers, I miss Luke Burbank.

~~ KVI's morning heavyweight Kirby Wilbur probably wasn't too happy reading about how the Mountain canned it's long time morning host Marty Reimer last week instead of renewing Reimer's contract.  The Kirbsters contract is up at the end of the year.

~~ Are baby congrats in order to David Boze and wife Peggy O'Ban? Those pics Beck at com have people guessing that David is about 6 months along.

~~ Do radio people realize that news from two days ago is technically not news? Sunday evening KPTK reruns of Friday morning's Bill Press Show (m-f, 3-6a) makes the station sound like out-of-touch buffoons. It's even worse than Saturday morning's Crash Talk, the KPTK (m-f) infomercial about fixing dented fenders- progressively, of course.

~~ When CBS news pixie Katie Couric stumped Glenn Beck with the question, "What do you mean by white culture?" Beck should have held up a picture of his audience at Safeco Field. 

~~ Separated at birth: Glenn Beck and Curly Howard. "Rush, Dori, Cheese! Rush, Dori, Cheese! Nyuck, Nyuck, Nyuck."

Tuesday oddems: boring beckwatch, bremerton bombast, bang bus bimbos, burley belchers, bad boned birdies

~~ Live & yokel. Fascinating man, Frank Shiers (KIROFM m-f,7-11p). That's why he gets the press he gets... in Bremerton. In a great piece with great pictures, his hometown paper, The Kitsap Sun, gives us the lowdown on the Frank, who may be Too Ugly To Die (TUTD). We especially liked it because Steven Gardner thoughtfully included a couple of nasty comments of ours about Frank. If you read the whole thing you'll find out that Frank was disappointment to his father too.
