Mike Malloy suspends tonight's show

"I will not be on the air tonight. I can't do it. I cannot sit behind a microphone and talk about yet another incomprehensible act of gun violence - this time against the complete innocence and vulnerability of children.

There are no words that can be said to provide any sort of comfort to the parents, grandparents, sisters and brothers of the children murdered in the sanctuary of a school classroom. The pain they will feel is beyond description - there is no way to express this sort of horror.

As for me . . . I am choking on the tears and anguish that other parents - those whose children were not murdered this bright Winter's day - must be feeling.

So . . .

The "best of" program Kathy has for tonight dealt with a different shooting, not quite one year ago. I will try to be back on the air Monday.

Today's mass murder of children and their adult caretakers can be - and should be - seen as the NRA's holiday gift to America. How else to comprehend any of this?"

Not just the NRA's gift to America. It is a gift from the Koch Brothers, the British petroleums, the Scott Walkers, the Rick Snyders, the Rick Scotts, the Mitt Romneys and Rush Limbaughs and Sean Hannities and the Sheldon Adelsons and the Paul "Ayn Rand" ryans of the world. I will even include the Bill Gates and the Nick Hanauers in that group who want to destroy the last of our public institutions: public education. All the greedy, polarizing haters of our Great Society and FDR's New Deal programs which kept us healthy and happy for so many, many progressive years.

Take a look at the Heritage Foundation and the money they pay to Hannity and Limbaugh for the hate talk.

Open your eyes and help us get our country back. End the greed. Just end it.

It might interest you to know that Jamie Foxx has quasi-blasphemously admitted that violence in Hollywood movies contributes to the occurrence of incidents like at the Clackamas Town Center Mall and in Connecticut in the past week. Not exactly a revelation, except that Foxx is someone who participates in the shoot-em up and gratuitous violence manufactured from Hollywood.

Also, states have lost control of the mentally ill, which could prevent a number of these evil killings of children (often in gun-free zones) as the last two assailants would have been classified as mentally ill. This disturbing trend started back over 30 years ago, when Gov. Reagan (at the time) signed legislation that shut down mental institutions in California.
