Gregg Hersholt, jetisoned by KIRO in 2010 after 26 years with the station, and most recently doing afternoons at KXL (Portland), has been named morning anchor at KOMO, replacing the recently retired Bill Yeend. This will supposedly also replace Mornings with Manda (weekdays 5a-9a) co-hosted by Manda Factor and Tom Hutyler.
Stay tuned!

Could you please change your copy to read " **WEST SEATTLE'S OWN** Gregg Hersholt, jetisoned by KIRO in 2010 after 26 years ...." and so on
Thanks.

Based on his Facebook post, Gregg will be working mornings with Manda Factor. No word on Tom's fate.

Press Release from Fisher:
Seattle - (May 18, 2012) Fisher Communications (FSCI on NASDAQ) announced today that Veteran Seattle news reporter and anchor Gregg Herscholt will join KOMO Radio as morning drive host starting June 1, 2012.
Gregg worked for more than 20 years in the Seattle area as a morning news host and has recently worked in radio in Portland, OR. Gregg will team with KOMO Radio's Manda Factor to host the morning show.
In addition, Gregg has agreed to give up space on the top of his head for advertising messages from key KOMO advertising clients. These messages will be displayed prominently in four-color ink and will be rotated out on a weekly basis.

This great news. KIRO's morning news team has turned into a train wreck since Gregg's last morning there. Thank you KOMO! My new morning team starting June 1st.

Herb and Jane for mornings!

Better keep him away from Jane- they don't exactly have the best of relationships...

I'd rather listen to Gregg than Bill Radke's yawning presentation on KIRO.

Congrats to Gregg! I'd only recently found out (maybe here, on a previous article) that he was down in Portland.

KOMO's gain, KIRO's loss.

No changes in the morning team - it's going to be Gregg & Manda, with Hutyler doing sports.
This also marks the second time Gregg's succeeded Bill Yeend in AM drive...

Surprising that KOMO would take such an opportunity to replace one old man with another old man. Not much forward thinking going on there.
Posted by: Whatever | May 21, 2012 at 04:55 PM
Some of us that are not old want to get our news from old men -- they have something called gravitas.

Forward thinking hasn't anything to do with age. It has to do with expertise in your field.
Forward thinking = youth? That's odd thinking.

I'm talking longevity. Building a loyal audience takes time, and to invest in someone who is likely to hang it up sooner than later just doesn't make long-term sense. They must be banking on his name to bring an immediate audience. We'll see if he can deliver it. Hell, even on his worst day, he'll still be better than Radke over at KIRO.

What has happened to KIRO. Today on the Ross and Burbank show they spent an entire segment talking to a guy who makes and fly's paper airplanes. I fled to NPR.

KIRO has dumbed it down too far, even though they're getting the numbers they want. KOMO has a golden opportunity and I think new PD Duckworth is the right guy to get them on track. Hersholt probably feels like he has something to prove, don't you think?.

Agree with Michael. Dave Ross has devolved into an annoying 'contrarian'. It is increasingly difficult to separate, Dave being droll and ironic, from irascible needling of Luke. It is sad to think it is true that Luke, actually doesn't know where Dave lives, or would be an off mike friend.
The format of 'magic messages' or 'd-mail' replacing callers is their biggest mistake.
Dave seems like john mccain who likes abba, with pop cultural references sailing over his head.
dori, left to his devices, urged on by his pet poodle jake, is just a bone stupid, hannity wannabe.

How come you listen? I left KIRO. Habits are hard to break I guess.
Posted by: Morris | May 23, 2012 at 02:21 PM
It's going to be Luke's show. He is just waiting for Dave to leave.

I had thought we were rid of that douchebag. Sigh.
