Dreamy radio superstar Delilah (Rene) has many admirers, and a sometimes they're less than appreciated.
According to the Kitsap Sun, a 51-year-old Seattle man was arrested Monday in Port Orchard for allegedly stalking her.
Rene's personal assistant last week told the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office that several witnesses in Port Orchard had seen and talked to the suspect. The man has a long history of making unwanted gestures to Rene, a South Kitsap resident.
The current owner of a restaurant formerly owned by Rene said the suspect had been leaving gifts for her there. A neighbor, who also is a sheriff's deputy, said the suspect was in the neighborhood asking questions. The deputy, who later learned of the alleged stalking, positively identified the man from a Department of Corrections photo, according to a sheriff's office report. Rene told deputies the suspect was jailed more than five years ago for stalking her.
Rene's gardener said the suspect walked up to the house last week and attempted to deliver flowers.
About 2:15 p.m. Monday, the agent of a private detective hired by Rene reported the suspect lurking near her home. The agent and another man detained the suspect by taking him to the ground until sheriff's deputies arrived.
The suspect was booked into Kitsap County jail on $50,000 bail.

Creepy. This was going on for five years?

Good scoop! I once asked Delilah for an autographed picture to give my wife (who listened to her show at night) and it was in our mailbox the next day, so this is a neat lady.

I've been a talk radio listener for 40 years. I haven't got a clue who Delilah / Rene is. "Superstar"? I think not...

well if you have been listening to TALK radio for 40 years, no wonder you haven't heard of her. She doesn't do talk radio. She hosts a music program on WARM 106.9. People call her up and request a song for someone special in their lives and they might have a short conversation but thats it.

Delilah is one of the many super successful American females in the media and show business that our little man Monson is extremely jealous of. He once quoted her seven figure salary ( i think it was 3 or 4 million a year, since her show is syndicated) on his show, with an attitude of incredulity that this person ("this dumb shmuck" was his unstated implication) was making this kind of money and not him.

Delilah got her start in Seattle radio back in the early 80's. She's been nationally syndicated for years and has enjoyed a very successful career. Too bad stalking seems to be one of the prices of fame.

I was stunned to see what a phenomenon Delilah is in the Midwest. When I lived in Cleveland for 7 years, I would go to family picnics, parties, other events, and women and men would spontaneously start talking about Delilah and something she said. Her calls from service members and their families were a particularly hot topic at those parties. She's touched a core of America that few others have reached. And while I may not be a regular listener, I certainly respect her and her vision.
