BlackRhino

In the spirit of consideration I have to correct you. there was approximately one million people there.

BlackRhino

Plus or minus a few hundred thousand…

Chucks

Having started with a warning, and a little history lesson about Hollywood and Height/Ashbury, I took my grand daughter and two Boston Terrorist puppy's to Seattle to enjoy a bunch of modern day drug addled hippies.
It was great fun. Trying to teach her to recognise the Evergreen State alumni was fun. We really enjoyed the smug, "aren't I wonderful" attitudes of the self aggrandized Seattle dwellers.
'Twas a great day, topped off by a long visit to a dog park where we got to watch a woman hike her skirt and pee right there with the rest of the bitch's. She didn't even squat. I really didn't know you girls had that kind of aim. You can learn something every day.
Walked back to the tunnel and took the Sound Transit thing back to the airport. What a great day we had.
(McDermott was on the teevee for the 11:00 news last night. I just don't know what channel we were watching)

Puget Sound

Chucks
I guess you didn't spot ph(j)oanie out there getting her "60's Fix" as an elder wannabe Hippie?
I love the Boston Terriers aka Boston Terrorists.
Evergreen Alum...lmao

Nice...Reporters getting together to discuss ways to discredit the Republican Candidate, Joe Miller.
IF this is true, just goes to show that Sparkles can rest easy about the 'Liberal Media' still carrying the Dems Water.

"Joe Miller’s campaign released this statement, along with the audio:

Anchorage, Alaska. October 30, 2010 — In an apparent accidental voice mail message left on the cell phone of Joe Miller’s spokesperson, Randy DeSoto, what is believed to be the news director for CBS Anchorage affiliate KTVA, along with assignment editor Nick McDermott, and other reporters, openly discuss creating, if not fabricating, two stories about Republican nominee for U.S. Senate, Joe Miller. The voice mail message was later authenticated by Mr. McDermott, who sent a text to DeSoto stating “Damn iPhone . . . I left you a long message. I thought I hung up. Sorry.”

In the first discussion, the KTVA reporters discuss getting a list of Miller campaign supporters in order to ‘find’ a “child molester.” “You have to find that one person,” says the male reporter, to laughter in the news room. The reporters at KTVA then discuss creating a “Rand Paul” incident at the then upcoming Miller Rally (held on October 28, 2010) and hoping for violence so that they can “send out a tweet” and “Facebook” that “Miller got punched” at the rally.

Needless to say, if this allegation is true, then … we have an epidemic of incompetency when it comes to handling phones. KTVA also has a big scandal on its hands if this is substantiated. I have sent a request to Nick McDermott and news director Staci Feger asking for confirmation and comment, and I will update this post if and when I receive a reply.

Update: Let me make a couple of points about concerns raised in the comments. First, the part about phone-handling incompetency is a joke. Second and more importantly, we don’t yet know whether the voices on that call came from KTVA reporters or not; there is nothing in the audio to identify anyone. (In contrast, the Brown audio had Brown’s very distinctive voice at the beginning.) The Miller campaign has made an allegation, backed by an e-mail that has yet to be released, and until we get independent verification, that’s all it is at the moment. Someone left the message, of course, but until we get a response from KTVA, it’s best not to leap to conclusions. If it did capture reporters having that kind of discussion, then as I wrote originally, KTVA does have a big scandal on their hands."

Errm... I could have saved you a few thousand characters right there Puget Sound. Joe Miller discredited himself by acting like a wannabe Mussolini on the campaign trail. Or are you just mad with the media because it lets people know what wingnuts like Miller get up to?

Puget Sound

yeah, i can see your 'point' red, why report the news when you can make crap up.

i prefer the 'we report, you decide' model.

Coiler

"Joe Miller’s campaign released this statement, along with the audio"..

Oh ok, that makes it impossible for Miller to fabricate the story then...

Chucks

FOX News is about to play the voice mail as reported at 8:58.
I will wait to hear it.

Coiler

yes, expert analysis from Breitbart too while we're at it.

Posted by: Coiler | October 31, 2010 at 08:41 AM

I would say it does, but bet that Media Matters or some leftwing snotrag will find a way to fabricate it and charge Miller with lieing - without substantive proof once again.

KS

You've made some wild-assed accusations which smacks of leftwingnut spin. How about providing the source now ?

redneckliberal

What do you call hiring goons to handcuff frigging journalists who are trying to ask you questions? In the real world, that's called kidnapping. The guy's an authoritarian maniac. Crack Smoker

The left is in awful shape, the union and NAACP hate YT Fest that was promoted endlessly on PMSNBC and PSA instead of commercials liberal talk radio got less people than a comedy central show could get to DC. Comedy Central is now more influential to the left than unions and civil rights leaders, which is funnier than anything that was actually said yesterday. The left is dying and the eulogy is being said by a stand-up.

Crack Smoker

The poor kids that were dragged to that are the same kids who have parents that make them hang posters of Bammy, Mao and Alinsky in their room.

LMAO. Incoherent; all hat and no cattle, once again. All the voter fraud you can muster won't be able to rescue the liberals from a shellacking in a few days.

Tommy008

EXTREMISTS AND FLOOR WAXERS ARE GETTING THEIR ASSES HANDED TO THEM- Big Ed just reported that Joe Miller (Alaska senate race teabagger) and Rossi aer gettig trounced in latest polls. Rossi is six pointa behind. I DONT WANT BOTTH HOUSES to go to teabaggers and Repugs, just the House. House to Repugs and Obama out in 2012.

sparky

Lunch was fun, Blam! We had a great time.

drool

Banner on what was the Dave Ross show page is now "Ross and Burbank". Don't know when that was changed.

Chucks

Dang sparky, now I am jealous. It would have been fun to meet both of you.

Crack Smoker

McDermott and that vile woman who busses illegals over the border were in attendance, yeah, when I think moderation, I think Alinsky loving pinko trash.

Puget Sound

T008,
I think you are correct. The House but not the Senate in 2010.

The great thing about the House is that they essentially run the budget and can defund some of the more egregious legislation (ie the stuff we had to 'pass' to learn what was in it ala Pelosi).

PJ O'Rourke had the best line about the 2010 Election. It is not so much a Referendum as it is a Restraining Order.

KS

Spot on, PJ O'Rourke. For the better of the country, I hope the Senate stays Democratically controlled and agree with the rest of T008's commentary.

Crack Smoker was correct - the moderate march to restore (in)sanity and fear was very political around the edges. This was matching tit for tat with Beck's gathering in DC on 8/28 - the idea was concocted by Stewart and Colbert after 8/28.

In Seattle, From what I saw of it, most of the speakers as well as the crowd were trying to behave well, with an occasional political code-speak phrase leaked out specially for the media when they were there, then when they knew that the light no longer shone upon them, they returned to their old selves, resuming the dark seamy underbelly of gotcha politics that they embrace. Nice try though (?)

Sure, there were some genuinely laughable moments and signs in the daylight and it was peaceful.

Puget Sound

Looks like the spin is on from the Katie Couric CBS Affiliate on the Miller fiasco. See Below. If you actually listen to it it seems pretty clear cut what was being planned. Of course, the CBS Station says different:

"The perception that this garbled, out of context recording may leave is unfortunate, but to allege that our staff was discussing or planning to create or fabricate stories regarding candidate Miller is absurd,” he said. “The complete conversation was about what others might be able to do to cause disruption within the Miller campaign, not what KTVA could do.”

He added, “Have we had internal discussions about the level of professionalism we need to bring to our conversations, internally and externally? Of course we have, this is a lesson to learn from.”

Tommy008

i saw Mcdermott in the downtown Bartell's , striding around Bartell's, buying some stuff. He had some aide/flunky following one step behind him like a pet poodle, chattering with him non-stop. Christ, can't this guy even shop at a drugstore without a hired flunky withhim?

Coiler

However, Greg Sargent has a response from the station's general manager on what the voicemail really was:

"It's unfortunate that this recording has happened. It's unfortunate because it does not accurately reflect the journalistic standards of our newsroom and the garbled context will no doubt leave more questions than answers. The Miller campaign's analysis of the recording is incorrect in many material ways ranging from personnel involved in the conversation, the interpretation of conversation snippets and the reported transcript of the perceived garbled conversation.

"While the recording is real, the allegations are untrue. The recording was the result of a cell phone not being hung up after a call was placed to Randy DeSoto, Joe Miller campaign spokesperson, Thursday afternoon to discuss Joe Miller's appearance on that evening's newscast. That phone call was placed near the end of a coverage planning meeting in our newsroom regarding that evening's Miller rally in downtown Anchorage. The group of KTVA news personnel was reviewing potential "what-if" scenarios, discussing the likelihood of events at the rally and how KTVA might logistically disseminate any breaking news.

"The perception that this garbled, out of context recording may leave is unfortunate, but to allege that our staff was discussing or planning to create or fabricate stories regarding candidate Miller is absurd. The complete conversation was about what others might be able to do to cause disruption within the Miller campaign, not what KTVA could do."

Chucks

I have to tell you Coiler, it has been over thirty years since I was a cop, but one thing is memorable. Every single suspect that I ever interviewed vehemently declared and defended their innocence.
It didn't matter if you caught them crawling out a window with a pillow case full of property or if you chased them down and took a gun, mask and bag of money, they all declared that they committed no offense.
These guys are caught and are now doing the "I didn't do it" perp dance.
Color me a little skeptical. Me feels that they are scumbags and are just trying to cover their slimy little asses.

Tommy008

Not only bsnner , but now the announcer for the show says "Ross and Burbank". Very sad times, indeed. Burbank is the kind of guy that Jim French would sic his Great Danes on if he saw him coming up his driveway in Bellevue. (Actually I don't really know if French owns dogs at all , or whether he lives in Bellevue, but it makes for good copy.)

Tommy008

Boy, Suits and his gang of fat middle-aged white guys are going to be pissed about Rossi';s latest sorryass poll numbers. Suits has been steaming about Rossi's limpwristed tv commercials. Will this be thae last tiME we see Dino Rossi ads? I SURE HOPE SO.

redneckliberal

I wouldn't expect wingnuts to grasp the complexity of the concept, but the midterms are a power play by Obama. How so? Easy. The GOP have sat on the sidelines for two years screaming like babies about every damn thing. They've contributed nothing except obstruction and negativity. Even with a clear majority, Obama's been screwed on getting legislation passed. Solution? Obama plays a weirdly muted midterm campaign (even Bill Clinton's like "WTF? Why aren't we fighting?") because he WANTS the GOP to get a majority. When they win, it'll be time to put up or shut up, they'll no longer have the luxury of sniping from the sidelines as the minority who's not expected to do sh*t. As the majority, they'll be forced to start participating otherwise they'll just look like even bigger a-holes than they do now.

Two outcomes in 2012:

1. Republicans help Obama steer the country back from the brink and he'll get reelected because he'll get the credit as president.

2. Republicans continue to whine and block everything. Everyone but the hardcore wingnuts desert them in droves, Obama gets reelected.

Conservative dullards might think they're winning and, indeed, they probably will win next week. But there's tactics and there's strategy... it's a trap wingnuts!

KS

Nothing but Ass-umptions. Wishful thinking by the liberal progressives. For one thing, Obama will not govern like Clinton did when there was divided government - its not in his DNA.

KS

A bet against Rossi winning is one that I'd glad to make.

Chucks

You reached behind your back, spread the old cheeks and pulled that one right out of your ass redneck lib. Of course, being one of those states that is still in play, we have seen Obama, Biden, and the First Wookie (I am not sure about Clinton) multiple times in the last few weeks.
Even those on this blog that tend to agree with your idiot thoughts are too smart to buy in to that bull crap.
Go ahead, bend over, spread 'em and pull something else out.

redneckliberal

Chucks, such is the nature of speculation. So how do you explain the Obama Dems apparent lack of giving a sh*t who wins tomorrow? Do you just think he's bored presidentin'? Or he's been cowed into submission by the Tea Baggers? If my take's so skewed, what's yours? (Sorry to offend you with all that thinking and stuff.)

KS

He's just doing a roper dope. If the GOP doesn't compromise this time, we have a horse race. Gridlock is good - enough shit has hit the fan and reversal of most of it is desirable.

The GOP needs to have a candidate for POTUS in 2012 that will out-persistent BO and not compromise - Chris Christie is one who could handle that.

Coiler

"Gridlock is good".. yes we know that from 1994, Newt was out 4 years later. Your brain needs more washing.

KS

Different circumstances, dude. Get your facts straight - it was not all gridlock then - Clinton cooperated and worked with the GOP on some legislation and to balance the budget. You really need to stop drinking that electric kool-aid and smoking crack !

Coiler

No, worse players, my man. This Boner dude has already said he is going to shut down gumbint if he doesn't get his way. So don't play "things were different then". The GOP did shut down gumbmint then and they will shut it down again. Your party is the one represented by a governor drop-out, how is that going to hold up?

KS

LMAO - sure if you believe Media Matters and Huff and Puff Post. I count on Obama trying to shut down the guvmint - and trying to blame the GOP, but he will be found to be a liar, as usual and the people will see through the big lie, when it happens. Keep believin' Palin will be the POTUS nominee in 2012 - ain't gonna happen. She'll be a trojan horse for the Democratics while the real candidates are probably Christie, Pawlenty, Thune or Daniels or one to be named later. If the Bama's ratings keep going down, he will have competition from his own party for 2012.

BTW, Boehner will have a diminished role as Speaker - committee chairman and the majoirty leader (i.e. Pence, Ryan, Cantor and McCarthy - and the young guns will all be involved in legislation and the Teabaggers will hold their feet to the fire, if they capitulate. He has a better supporting cast than the GOP did in 1994, and if they don't measure up, they can also be voted out in 2 years, just like the Dems are about to be this time.

Coiler

Boner and Cantor, like the Skipper and Gilligan. I'm glad you agree the teabaggers are players in your party.

redneckliberal

"Clinton cooperated and worked with the GOP on some legislation and to balance the budget." WTF are you talking about??????

KS, I'd disagree with coiler. Your brain has evidently been washed way too many times and has disintegrated.

joanie

It's anybody's guess what's going to happen now. If the nut jobs on the right take this country further into debt and unemployment, they will only have accomplished making the rich even richer. Which is my guess - anybody read the Huffpo piece on Bernanke?

We've still got the Senate and the Senate stopped all the legislation the House passed. So what's changed, really?

Except that now it will be actual nut jobs on the right who hold up everything instead of nutjobs on the right and on the left. Lots and lots of blue dogs gone to DINO heaven wherever that is. And the nut jobs will get all the credit for what? Privatizing SS? Outsourcing more jobs? Repealing healthcare?

Redneck, you are one damn good thinker.

We had us a great Speaker in Pelosi who got a lot accomplished. Now we get a man with eleven siblings who likes to cry on camera. Fear does that to people. Well, he did work his way through college which is more than chux did even when tuition was under a thousand dollars a quarter.

Still got the Senate which didn't do us any good the first time. Lost the House which didn't do us any good the first time because everything they did got locked up in the Senate. Still got Obama . . . that hasn't changed. Still got Bernanke. Still got Geithner.

What's changed?

And the first words I heard the red man say on TV last night was "we're tweaking" healthcare. That "repeal" word seems to have been replaced. At least for now. I wonder if they even know what they want to do.

So, what's new?
