The late Emmet Watson, always published his Thompson Turkey recipe this time of year; NPR's Susan Stamberg offers her mother-in-law's cranberry relish. Michelle Obama makes her Apple Cobbler; Hillary Clinton touts the Chocolate Chip Cookies she famously doesn't make. Slade Gorton has his Warm Crab Dip; and the Bush Family their Zuni Stew.
These are beloved family traditions and the Bla'm Fam has one of it's own- which we're presenting by acclamation for the fourth year. We created it with a nod to the dubious genre of "family holiday favorites." As with all such recipes- it's the sediment, not the taste (or taste) that endears it.
There's no "right ' way to make this favorite- it's made truly from the "left" overs found in any liberal's holiday pantry.

Going snowshoeing- WooHOOOO!

I'd rather be snowshoeing, too. Sounds wonderful, Drew.
My turkey day gift: the nice man from roto-rooter willing to came out at 2 AM to clean out my sewer! Yes, I had two inches of water in part of my basement! He was very nice and earned the big tip (on top of the big bill) that I paid him.
But, all is well now. That's one way to get the downstairs bathroom cleaned.
Happy Thanksgiving. I still feel sorry for turkeys. Well, except for chux.

Actually, it was way too early in the season to go out- too warm, and had to travel quite aways off-road to get to the area, and then the snow depth wasn't ideal, but it was good trial day for new shoes and equipment. Didn't get rained on, but it had rained hard the last 24 hours though, so the snow conditions for shoeing were bad, but you have to be ready for that. I am hoping for a good clear day around that next commercialized holiday, where I'll go over to the Iron Goat Trail on Stevens Pass- by then the conditions should be excellant. And nothing celebrates the guestimated date of baby Jesus' birthday than staying OUT of the stores and heading out into nature to watch the unprepared NW motorists as they slide sideways down Stevens Pass from the viewpoints at Wellington.
Did you have time for dinner, J?
