I have heard that 39,000 americans die yearly from standard influenza. How many are dying from Swine Flu? (Or to be politically correct, H1N1. Don't want to offend pigs or those who farm them.) Is it really that bad? I know hundreds of people and don't know of any that have had H1N1.
I remember well the Asian Flu of 1957. Just about everyone in my school got it over a 30 day period. I almost died. So far this Swine thing doesn't even begin to approach that. Not to say it won't.
I also recall students being forced to take the Polio shots. A number died from reactions. So I do not blame folks for questioning this latest vaccine.
But, letting idiots on TV & talk radio tell anyone what to do.....that's just stupid.

AuthenticAndrew

I don't see the point of taking a proactive measure to prevent something that is very unlikely to happen, getting this virus or even dying from it.

Bush's appointee Mike Leavitt would have adivsed the same thing because that's what government does, but because a Democrat is in office everything the government does that can be viewed in a negative light is the direct result of the incompetence of Barrack Obama.

Sadly conservatives as a psychological category are not motivated to look for this kind of hypocrisy, they're only concerned with maintaining the status quo by whatever means necessary. Conservatives see everything as a football game with Glenn Beck as the quarterback. They will follow him into any dark corner he wishes to lead them.

Lafferty

Obamunists are hoping to kill off the people with "pre-existing conditions"so the Government socialized health insurance won't have to pay out so much. Libs can just get the Koolaid shot and die.

mrogi

Thousands of health workers refuse to take the mandatory flu shot. That tells me all I need to know. Before you get a shot watch this video.

nothing a five million dollar judgement/settlement can't cure right up.

Rich

Who can make any sence of this? This guy is a babbling idiot. What a waste of a half hr. Well not a waste, I now know what the otherside is listing to. No wonder the tea baggers want to gert the gov't out of medicare

I tend not to look toward You Tube to get medical advice.

But that's just me.

AuthenticAndrew

you didn't watch the video did you

The irony is, if these dummies listen to the becker head, there will be more anti-virus for the masses.

sparky

Yes I saw it Andrew. I just don't agree with it. I got a flu shot, like I do every year, and I am fine. Im not in the risk group for the H1N1 so I will hold off on that one until kids can get theirs.
If people don't want to get a shot, then ok dont.

sparky

Some people are ultra sensitive to the solution the vaccine is stored in. Even this woman's doctors say there is no proof that the vaccine caused her disability.

This has been all over Facebook, email, etc. Im sorry she developed this condition, but it doesn't mean she got it from the shot.

joanie

I don't know. I never do get the flu shots and I really don't think I've had the flu more than two or three times in my life. I am one of those who prefers to trust my immune system.

But, I don't question that medical professionals are certainly better qualified to give an opinion over Beckerhead as someone else said.

I spent my early years in Mt Vernon when polio was rampant up there. Somehow, I managed not to get it. As did a whole lot of others. Who knows why some got it and others did not. No one had the vaccine yet.

I read recently that the polio scourge was really the result of indoor plumbing! People who were exposed to so many viruses due to living without indoor plumbing had lots of opportunities over their early years to be exposed to viruses and build up immunities naturally. I know I lived in a rural area next to a large field and my friend, Harold, and I used to play in the tall grass of that field and around what was found to be a sewer stream running though it! We loved that field!

So who knows. I've been pretty healthy except for those damn colds. So I don't mess much with nature.

Also, Ryder, I understand that lots of children have died from N1H1. Hundreds in fact. Can anyone else corroborate that? Sounds to me like we ought to be taking notice. Older people do not seem to be as susceptible.

It gets harder and harder to know what to do. And the government isn't always right. They overreact as well. Esp. when there's money to be made...

anonymous

At least now we know why Joanie is such a shit for brains. It is a contagious disease that she caught playing with Harold in the tall grass.
The whole thing is understandable.

jvwalt

Funny thing, for all of Beck's anti-vaccine blathering, he has refused to say whether or not he would get the shot himself. Which is a strong indication that he's gotten the shot, and that he doesn't even believe the stuff he's saying. If he'd refused to be vaccinated, he would have made a big public to-do about it.
