Billy Bob

by Larry King

KPTK may finally do a local show to go head to head with Carlson and Schram on KOMO. They're looking at teaming Erin Hart with David Goldstein and calling it "The Commie Taters." (Tip 'o the yarmulke to Stephan Sharkansky.)

America's Biggest Loser, Radio Edition! As a percentage of what they had before the changes, who lost more, Rush Limbaugh on his new diet or KIRO on their switch to FM?

Worst radio name? Has to be "Softy" on KJR. Seriously, what sort of man wants to be called Softy? That must go over well with the shikseh.

If you're listening to KPTK and the viaduct collapses, does it make a sound?

This just in (That's what she said!): Former talkmeisters Bryan Styble and Alan Prell along with ex-KIRO PD Tom Clendening have been booked at Bumbershoot this year. Look for them in their bright orange vests and Pinkerton security caps. (Tip 'o the yarmulke to Fred Ebert.)

Radio Shack is going to become just "The Shack." Pizza Hut, just "The Hut." So Bonneville big-wig Bruce Reese, a self-described trend-setter, is changing his company's name to "The Ville." KIRO PD Rod Arquette has also decided that, instead of calling them the KOMO Homo's, he will now refer to that other station as just "The Homo's."

I'm not a business major, but the Funky Monkey and KIRO-FM have about the same ratings. Wonder which station costs the most to operate? Monkey's don't work for cheap. At either station.

The Guinness World Record people are in town and all abuzz. Seems a KOMO radio anchor recently read two consecutive sentences without saying "um" or "er."

What's the deal with the metric system?

Word is Salt Lake Censors had to put the Latter Day kibosh on Luke Burbank's first choice for the name of his show: Too Bushy To Lick. (Tip 'o the yarmulke to Jenn Andrews.)

Now that the People Meter ratings are showing KOMO jack-hammering KIRO like Akon schtupping an Olsen Twin, Fisher programming big cheese Dennis "Pine Nuts" Kelly has put out a memo with some new directions for his staff. For starters, all male employees must now refer to him as "Mister Kelly" or "Your Eminence." For female employees, "Hot Stuff." (Tip 'o the yarmulke to Colleen Brown.)

I miss some of the big names of the past in Seattle broadcasting that you don't hear much about anymore: Pat O'Day and Jim French. J.P. Patches & Gertrude. Robin & Maynard. Sytman & Whatsisname.

The Classic KING FM staff is upset with Fisher. Fisher sells the advertising time on KING, and Fisher Sales Whiz Bob "Glengarry" Boyd is insisting that KING DJ's begin commercial breaks by saying, "We'll be right BACH, after these very important messages." (Tip 'o the yarmulke to Brad Eaton.)

When a rare red-butt baboon escaped briefly at the Woodland Park Zoo last week it was a bad break for Marty Reimer of the Mountain. He was on-stage to introduce Nanci Griffth at Zoo Tunes when a frantic zookeeper shot him with a tranquilizer. Most people missed the ruckus, since the Mountain had been playing on the PA system and the crowd was tranquilized already. (Tip 'o the yarmulke to Chris Mays.)

Follow-up on that incident on Eastlake involving early morning naked news anchors and a vat of Azteca re-fried beans. KIRO Newsies say it was a sickening, disgusting sight. But the re-fried beans looked pretty good. (Tip o' the yarmulke to Jason Brooks.)

Big pharma taking on Bonneville. The makers of Ambien are suing 710ESPN for hurting business.

There is no "right-wing" in America, there is only: the (1) moderates, (2) the lunatic left (see: Joanie), (3) the lunatic left who are paid snitches told to stir up faux hate so that #2 can be easily led around on a leash of paranoia (see: Hal Turner, below).

A notorious New Jersey blogger charged in June with threatening to kill judges and lawmakers was secretly an FBI “agent provocateur” paid to disseminate right-wing rhetoric. The FBI approached Turner, now 47, in 2002, and he spewed rhetoric about politics, immigration, abortion and other hot-button issues for years in exchange for government cash.

Oh My! One never knows about 'pretenders', does one.

My goodness barfy, gentlemen don't bang 'n brag. Shame on you.
;-] (in my best duffy like impression)

Ah good one chucks, that'll probably bring a response from Sparcoil.

The AP says Turner was paid to "spy" on right-wing groups.

He pled not guilty and his lawyer said the defense will use "Turner's background as an FBI informant" and argue he was "trained by the FBI" as "an agent provocateur" to incite people.

He will argue...

The lapdog salivates for his handlers:

"Once again, my fierce rhetoric has served to flush out a
possible crazy. Please acknowledge receipt of this warning. Of late, both of
you have become remiss in acknowledging e-mails."

So, tell me all you wise progressives Why Is This Allowed to Happen now that you control EVERYthing. Is there a good reason.

Whats this. Oh, they are real Americans according to Pelosi and the Neo-coms.

And, did anyone else hear that MSNBC edited the clip of the guy with the rifle and handgun at the Obama townhall in Pheonix to show how racist the old white conservative guys attending the townhall are. Only problem, the guy toting the guns was black. HAHAHAHA

maybe he was on our side, we need to crush the nuts of the gop.

I liked how Frank handled this gal at this town hall.

She got stomped like a narc at a Hell's Angels rally.

How's the election going for you in Afghan...progressives? How many more need to die before you do something about it???...or, is it different now that you're in charge. Pretty sad stuff.

Coiler, that sounded like a well prepared comeback by Franks. How many times do you think Him and that lady rehearsed it?

I never thought I'd witness 'nation-building' under a Democrat-controlled administration and Congress, but that is apparently what is happening currently in Afghanistan. What say 'ye progressives...any comment? (I seriously doubt it)

Anyone that can think on their feet is "well-prepared" to you nevets. The only thing rehearsed was her Nazi analogy and the Hitler picture. Telling Frank who is Jewish, that his support for the policy is Nazi-like got the slap in the face she deserved.

Okay, Duff, I'll bite. We have a bad history of setting up puppet governments then leaving them to their own devices. I don't trust Karzai. I'd like to see us stay through the next election, and see what the landscape looks like now that adults are in charge of our military and diplomacy. True, we should have been out of there a long time ago, but right now we are being more effective in helping the people of Afghanistan than we have been since we got there. But we have an even bigger opportunity in helping to stablize Pakistan from our positions, and our influence from those positions are having a real positive affect on Pak-India relations. My hope is that our support could give a democratically elected Pakistani government control over their most extreme factions, particularly those with global reach. In my wettest dreams, Kashmir could be resolved.

At the very least, I'd like to be assured that Karzai is vetted by adults and actually has the support of his people before we leave.

That's the best I can give you.

Thank you for an honest straight-forward response...that still equates to 'nation-building'.
The Taliban is a culture onto themselves, unlike the Al Qaeda who are the element we should be 'exclusively' focused on.
Like the Russians (fka: Soviet Union) experienced - you cannot win in Afghanistan; get out before we suffer yet more casualties; they do not want democracy, they are steeped in their own traditions and political cultures.

Very good Lucas.

When Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave a speech at her confirmation hearings, she said:

" The President-Elect has made it clear that in the Obama Administration there
will be no doubt about the leading role of diplomacy. One need only look to North Korea, Iran, the Middle East, and the Balkans to appreciate the
absolute necessity of tough-minded, intelligent diplomacy – and the failures that result when that kind of diplomatic effort is absent. And one need only consider the assortment of problems we must tackle in 2009 – from fighting terrorism to climate change to global financial crises – to understand the importance of cooperative engagement.......We will lead with diplomacy because it’s the smart approach. But we also
know that military force will sometimes be necessary, and we will rely on it to protect our people and our interests when and where needed, as a last

You remember Hillary, don't you, Duffman.

"But we also
know that military force will sometimes be necessary, and we will rely on it to protect our people and our interests when and where needed, as a last

Very good Sparcoil, but operative term therein is 'when and where needed'. We are not needed (nor wanted) in Afghanistan.
How many more young Americans do you want to see 'buy it' there...as well as all other human beings that may be affected by our presence there. Your corporate-minded POTUS doesn't seem to be focused accordingly...and Mrs Clinton can only function at his behest.

If we had not wasted time and money in Iraq, if we had not pulled out of Afghanistan to go chasing Cheney's wet dreams, we might have avoided a lot of unnecessary deaths. (Hmmm, did we hear a peep from Duffman about that?) Hillary was all for staying in both places long before she ran for President. So your feigned concern for "all other human beings" along with trying to attach her thoughts about the Middle East on somehow being controlled by President Obama is yet another Duffman FAIL.

Not quite...you did in fact hear me be concerned about the deaths in Iraq...as well as Viet Nam; I was never happy about the Bush actions (or the Democratic leaders in the case of VN).
I think in time you will agree that we should get out of Afghan...or will you view it in a different way filtered by the political force currently in power. I think we may know the answer to that Sparcoil, so your silence will be your response. May be your alter-ego wants to answer that one...ha.

I never wanted to go into either region Duffman.

Now, Im off to Oregon for a quick trip to take my Mom back to her house. Feel free to accuse me of skedaddling. Or that I am Coiler...whatever.

Duffman riding the short bus again?

When all else 'fails' Sparcoil resorts to yet other ID's. How silly.

I didn't want to be in either country, Duffman, but you knew that.

I am off to Oregon to take my mom back to her house. ( Oh wait...Steven says I live in her house..hhmmm how am I going to manage this?? Please tell me, Steven!)

Oh, and please be sure to say I am avoiding any more responses..we expect that of you. And Puts..you chime in too, k?

Good, so I gather you didn't want to be in Viet Name, Iraq and now Afghanistan. Cool!
Have a safe trip Sparcoil...WOFTOG!

Apparently a A Foregone Conclusion . Better get in and get those needed surgeries ASAP!

buzzard barfs spawn

It saddens me to announce the passing of my father, Buzzard Barf. As many of you knew, dad drove truck for a living.
While passing through Saltlake City, UT something happened, causing pop to loose control of his rig, which left the hiway killing both him and his hooker.
Dad died a happy man doing what he loved the most, driving truck and whoring.
We will miss him.

Maybe duffman was out riding his big wheel that day.

Touching eulogy on BB by Spar-coil.

Oh by the way,,,I am KS, too.

Gee, think this might have a bit to do with MSNBC's creditability?...and ratings

MSNBC host Contessa Brewer went on to say:

“Yes, there are Second Amendment rights, for sure, but also there are questions of whether this has a racial overtone. I mean, here you have a man of color in the presidency, and you have white people showing up with guns strapped to their waist.”

The only problem with MSNBC’s narrative of simmering racial tension and extremism is that the man with the rifle was, in fact, black.

BUH-bye Mayor Nichols...one snowstorm too many. Ironic that you continually gave us snow jobs and then you were did in by one.

S/be 'Nickels'...sorry :)

joanie..did you see this?

The Texas State Board of Education review committee is preparing to vote on a draft of proposed standards for history textbooks. Noting that the draft has “nothing about liberals,” the Houston Chronicle reported:

The first draft for proposed standards in United States History Studies Since Reconstruction says students should be expected “to identify significant conservative advocacy organizations and individuals, such as Newt Gingrich, Phyllis Schlafly and the Moral Majority.” [...] Others have proposed adding talk show host Rush Limbaugh and the National Rifle Association.

The 15-member committee, stacked with 10 Republicans, is expected to vote along party lines. Earlier this year, a panel of right-wing “experts” produced a report urging the committee to remove biographies of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Stephen F. Austin, César Chávez, and instead add history about the “motivational role the Bible and the Christian faith played in the settling of the original colonies.”

Amazing, simply amazing! Sometimes I wonder if Texas regards themselves as an independent nation.

One of the Neo-Coms darlings of this century is at it again. Only this time the Neo-Coms are telling her "Enough already."

oh, how precious Spar-Coil. not in your dreams. but i would be willing to bet you do a mean carlos or dick gregory when called upon...too funny.

You're late, Putsie. You missed a whole lot of belly bumping with Duffman.

What next ? Waiting for the other shoe to drop and hear about a bunch of unseemly in-breeding over here. That wouldn't shock me too much...:)

ObamaCare tried and tested in Maine.

And did I hear Greg Palast call Obama a facist on Air America?

How about NYTimes Paul Krugman saying Progressives have been 'punked' by Obama.

"...progressives have backlashed so intensely over the prospect of Obama's dropping the public option because -- for reasons extending far beyond specific health care issues -- they no longer trust the President. Citing Obama's steadfast continuation of Bush/Cheney Terrorism policies, the administration's extreme coziness with crisis-causing banks, and the endless retreats on health care, Krugman says that "a backlash in the progressive base . . . has been building for months" and that "progressives are now in revolt. Mr. Obama took their trust for granted, and in the process lost it."

Hmmm, hows that 50 State 'Strategery' working for you now?
Sure you got control of the House and Senate. Sure the Repubs have absolutely no impact on the process. YET...YET...YET the Dems can't get it done.
How's 2010 a looking?

Puget Sound

yes you did Nevets.

i seem to recall ol Joanie was a big fan of Greg Palast. Speaking truth to power and all that crap.
We won't hear a peep out of ph(J)oanie.

Nothing better than to start your day with a good laugh. Thanks Puts.

Beware strange gifts from the neo-coms.

Do you guys have a life?

I just returned form Chelan but thought I posted a comment from Chelan. I don't see it so perhaps it didn't "compute" and I didn't realize it.

I see the parroter is up to his old low-mentality comments again. Klueless, Steven who prefers to post ass-backwards, and sputsie. Wow! Combined, an IQ of -12. Even duffman on his trike is pedaling circles around you guys.

joanie for Sparky

Sparky, that is a travesty. But I guess revising history is the American Way now. Do you think most Texans are for this kind of thing or just too stupid to care?

We ought to have a nationalized curriculum. Local control doesn't work when the locals are idiots. Maybe we should give Texas back to Mexico?

My comment must have struck a chord to Ph(J)oanie, who we know by now has no sense of humor.

"I just returned form Chelan but thought I posted a comment from Chelan. I don't see it so perhaps it didn't "compute" and I didn't realize it."

It was realized and roundly ignored. Your judg-mentality is like it always was. Off-line, you are being laughed at.

Puget Sound

spot on, KS.

Anyone care to comment on this from Politico?

"Charlie Cook: Dem situation has 'slipped completely out of control'

Charlie Cook, one of the best political handicappers in the business, sent out a special update to Cook Political Report subscribers Thursday that should send shivers down Democratic spines.

Reviewing recent polling and the 2010 election landscape, Cook can envision a scenario in which Democratic House losses could exceed 20 seats.

"These data confirm anecdotal evidence, and our own view, that the situation this summer has slipped completely out of control for President Obama and Congressional Democrats. Today, The Cook Political Report’s Congressional election model, based on individual races, is pointing toward a net Democratic loss of between six and 12 seats, but our sense, factoring in macro-political dynamics is that this is far too low," he wrote.

"Many veteran Congressional election watchers, including Democratic ones, report an eerie sense of déjà vu, with a consensus forming that the chances of Democratic losses going higher than 20 seats is just as good as the chances of Democratic losses going lower than 20 seats."

Cook scrupulously avoided any mention that Democratic control of the House is in jeopardy but, noting a new Gallup poll showing Congress’ job disapproval at 70 percent among independents, concluded that the post-recess environment could feel considerably different than when Congress left in August.

"We believe it would be a mistake to underestimate the impact that this mood will have on Members of Congress of both parties when they return to Washington in September, if it persists through the end of the Congressional recess."
