She is what the fringe of the GOP wanted. In the end no one was managing the product the RNC was cranking out. She is to the cons what the Corvair was to GM. Overheated, rear engine design which had a tendency to catch on fire and burn up.
Posted by: Coiler | July 03, 2009 at 11:48 PM
Hopefully she's done. But you never know. She may come out with a book of sonnets and be redeemed. Or folk tales from the far north...
I bet chux would prefer folk tales from the far north. You know, the kind that tell about hunting wolves from helicopters.

Brad's Blog has a picture of Palin's home
Also, he has posted a response to a WSJ article claiming fraud in the Franken- Coleman case and he posts the judges' decisions in both the Minnesota case and the WA State case involving Rossi vs. Gregoire and fraud. He's targeting an editorial claiming the fraud. I wonder if this sort of thing would have happened if the paper had not been sold to Rupert Murdoch...
Interesting.

That is a great line there by coiler, prolly should copyright that.
But if the economy continues to slide and inflation fires up as many economists are predicting, the race will be wide open in 2012.
That was how Reagan got in, and he was considered a far-right loon with zero chance in '76. We could see longshot R candidates lining up to run, including Palin, Ron Paul, and at least one or two televangelists.
Posted by: woody held | July 04, 2009 at 05:38 AM
She quit to devote more time to training for the footrace with Barry Soetoro (POTUS), in which she will whup his a$$. LOL
Posted by: KS | July 04, 2009 at 08:49 AM
The GOP has gone through a purge lately; Ensign, Sanford and now Palin. None of them should matter in 2012. A number of potential candidates for POTUS with substance remain.
Sarah Palin would be well-served and financially better off to not seek that office and figure out more creative ways to serve. In the end, it appeared that she was brought down by the good ole boys in Alaska - in tandem with the White House-Media complex, who were out to bring her down. Time to move on boys and girls...
Posted by: KS | July 04, 2009 at 09:06 AM
She was living high on the hogma, time to tie up her dogma.
Posted by: Coiler | July 04, 2009 at 09:19 AM
coiler, stick to what you may know. The Corvair had issues with high speed stability when not equipped with a $4.50 front sway bar - not fire issues (that was the 4 cylinder Fiero)
Posted by: mark | July 04, 2009 at 09:36 AM
Like I said, she was like the Covair, the rear end would spin out and the gas tank would catch on fire if left in the garage.

Obama is like the VW new Beetle. The Beetle has amazing styling. It is distinctive at a time when all cars look alike, but still has eye appeal. Most distinctive cars of late are butt-ugly.
But has myriads of electrical & mechanical problems, especially as vwlemonlaw.com reports. the airbags deploy for no apparent reason.
Hey if Obama is so all-fired intelligent, why'd he pick Joe Biden.
Posted by: woody held | July 04, 2009 at 06:37 PM
Woody, it looks like your airbag deployed again, for no apparent reason.

If Palin did plan this fiasco then it was played poorly. If she didn’t plan it ahead of the press release then what would make her react so quickly? Strange, I wonder what made her respond the way she did.

Sarah Palin says Hillary Clinton shouldn't whine about tough media coverage
pot calls the kettle elite
Maybe we'll see her next on MTV opposite Ron Jeremey and Erik Estrada.

It would not surprise me that the conservative factions in the GOP will try to put Palin up in 2012. Would America vote for a quitter? How so many conservatives equated her to Ronald Reagan last year and she was the beacon for the GOP and conservative movement. Never mind that anyone with a right wing bent in the GOP was the next Ronald Reagan like Romney and Thompson. When Palin was picked by McCain during the GOP convention, I told my conservative friends that the elections were over and it wouldn’t be even close. She was the death knell for McCain and once the people knew about her extremist views they will shy away from her. Of course she did a good job of imploding herself in front of the press and this last act sustains that.
Her resignation ends the Reagan faction in the GOP and Sanford’s fall puts Gringrich’s Goons out of business. The Republicans currently offer the biggest slate of losers since the Nixon era. This is a good time for the GOP to shift to the center as well as reach out to the demographics that will make a difference and benefit them in the long term. However, I have my doubts as they are too busy reminding certain elements of Americans that when they wake up in the mornings, a black man sits in the White House and soon a Hispanic woman will be on the Supreme Court.

and Catherine Harris.
Posted by: Coiler | July 06, 2009 at 11:43 AM
Who is the GOP anyway? And Excon, when did you become an excon? Are you independent, still a republican, or now a democrat since the democrats are where the moderate republicans used to be?
Who is the GOP and why would anyone want to be one?

Theres only one thing more scary than a strong powerful determined woman and thats a strong powerful determined woman who is drop-dead georgous. If you feel she has destroyed herself, why worry or even be concerned about her. She should be a non-event.
Posted by: Eatyheartout | July 06, 2009 at 12:39 PM
No, the thing that is more scary than either of your examples are people who vote for "drop-dead gorgeous people" for President of anything much less President of the United States.
Voting on the basis of beauty should strike fear in the hearts of all Americans and send the voter back for a refresher course on democracy, the republic, the Constitution and American values on which this country was founded.
Umm, all of which Sarah Palin should reacquaint herself with as well.
Posted by: joanie | July 06, 2009 at 12:44 PM
You are wrong but you are entitled to your opinion.
Posted by: Eatyheartout | July 06, 2009 at 12:59 PM
Wrong about what?
Sleep with her if you must. But when voting for President, use your head - the one connected to your neck.
Posted by: joanie | July 06, 2009 at 01:26 PM
hehe...the Big Head/Little Head conundrum...
Posted by: sparky | July 06, 2009 at 01:59 PM
sorry to be late on this however coiler your corvair analogy is comedy gold, i will steal it from you but give credit. the corvairs caught on fire because they had two, two barrel carburators that leaked gas on the got engine after it was shut down, hence naders 'unsafe at any speed', they burnt up after they were parked.

I stand up and proclaim myself a recovering conservative. Borrowing the line from David Brock, I was blinded by the right. I change with time and accumulate more wisdom as I get older. I do not consider myself a strong liberal though by today’s conservative standards I probably am.
Posted by: Excon | July 06, 2009 at 02:57 PM
“Drop dead gorgeous” qualifies to be president? Drop dead gorgeous until she opens her mouth. Still beauty is not a criterion to be a good president. Judging a book by its cover or a movie by its trailer heh? People like her and her dogmatic followers are one of the reasons I cannot consider myself a moderate leaning right.
Posted by: Excon | July 06, 2009 at 03:00 PM
Strong, powerful, determined women who also happen to be drop-dead gorgeous can be found in abundance in, for example, Hollywood. But if that's your criteria for selecting someone to keep America prosperous and safe, it explains why the republicans are a failing political entity. It takes so much more than that to be President, and Palin still came up embarrassingly short. And she's a hypocrite, so it really doesn't matter how stubborn or cute she may appear, America needed something with substance (so does Alaska, where Palin's popularity among all voters is in the low forties).
Posted by: Drew | July 06, 2009 at 03:51 PM
Why are you lying, she never ran for President.
Posted by: Eatyheartout | July 06, 2009 at 04:09 PM
Plus the rear end of the Corvair spun out due to the lack of any real design.
Posted by: Coiler | July 06, 2009 at 04:30 PM
We know that the republicans tried to say she's just gonna be the VP, but those of us who think ahead know that every VP has the potential to become President at a moments notice, and had better be equipped to handle that job in every aspect. It's the very reason Palin lost the election for McCain. She was definitely not White House material then, and she isn't now.
Wasilla has an opening for an Animal Control officer, but with her "pro-life" background, she can't get that job either- she'd be compromising that by spaying, neutering, and euthanizing all day long.
Posted by: Drew | July 06, 2009 at 04:32 PM
"Strong, powerful, determined women who also happen to be drop-dead gorgeous can be found in abundance in, for example, Hollywood."
True-but they are very rare in the Dim/Lib party.
Posted by: oda231 | July 06, 2009 at 04:39 PM
While I am not the biggest fan of people like Pelosi or Feinstein, either one of them shows more strength, power, and determination on a bad day, than Palin can ever muster in a career. I'll take Wasserman-Shutlz, or Boxer, or Klobuchar, or even Patty Murray over Palin to take over as President on short-notice over Palin, who wasn't ready even after a LOT of tutoring.
Posted by: Drew | July 06, 2009 at 05:00 PM
Low standards Drew-very low.
Posted by: oda231 | July 06, 2009 at 05:32 PM
Low standards? how long did Sarah! stay on the job?
Posted by: Coiler | July 06, 2009 at 05:40 PM
Palin was/is a "flash in the pan" in the most obvious sense of the word. Republicans can hold on to her if they want, but they will continue to sink if they do. Palin used to talk negatively about people who quit before the job is done- now she leaves her job barely 2.5 years into a first term, her only explanation being that she has a "higher calling". Is that calling about to come in the form of a criminal investigation?
Posted by: Drew | July 06, 2009 at 06:07 PM
How long did Sarah stay on the job?
Who cares?
Did the Gov from KS & AZ quit their elected positions to move on?
Did Rham Emanuel quit his elected position? The impeached one?
Let me guess-as long as zero who promised he would serve his full senatorial term? After his election campaigned full time for Pres?
Is she still your favorite MILF
Coiler? You ought to explain to the lib women on here what that means.
And, lets hurry and have another stimulus-the current one is working so well. Perhaps zero can add a few more trillon to the debt. Unemployment heading towards 10% after promising it would not exceed 8%.
The liberal follies continue.
Posted by: oda231 | July 06, 2009 at 06:09 PM
I don't have to explain a thing. 2012, a Space Oddity indeed. rotlfl?
Posted by: Coiler | July 06, 2009 at 06:18 PM
You think we don't know what MILF is?
If moving to start a campaign is why she quit, why didn't she say so?
Your attempt to drag Obama in this is wasted energy. You should have shown up at a tea-bagging party on Saturday..they could hardly muster enough for a bridge tournament.
Give us an example of how our liberal President has made your life so terrible.
Posted by: sparky | July 06, 2009 at 06:19 PM
Yes, we find it funny that they try to compare current WH positions held by former governors or congresspersons to Sarah aborting her job. The difference is she didn't make it to the WH
Ya know?
Posted by: Coiler | July 06, 2009 at 06:23 PM
Why are you lying...
Don't you love direct answers to direct questions?
You know, eater, you're being fed a whole lotta propaganda and you're swallowing it whole. You're gonna get a tummy ache.
Esp. if you think Palin is your next POTUS.
C'mon oda, you know there are plenty of strong and beautiful women in the party of progressives. That's why the Dems can never seem to get it together. We are too damned strong-willed and independent. And drop-dead gorgeous.
Posted by: joanie | July 06, 2009 at 06:31 PM
Who cares? Are you that stupid? The people who supported Palin for governor, for one. And for anyone else who felt she was the political maverick she claimed to be. The Democrats you mentioned didn't need to explain the obvious to anyone as to why they were quitting.
As for Obama's response to the economic crisis, your party did nothing. Thet had months before new year to get a head start on a plan, but did nothing. After the inauguration, when they knew the Obama adminstration would be dealing with it, your party did nothing. After much pressure from both the media, and their own constituents, your party essentially had no response (face it, a 19 page folder, with NO NUMBERS, isn't a response, and it showed how the republicans had no plans of fixing the problem). So you and your fellow cons had every possible chance to contribute to a solution. As usual, CONS HAVE NO SOLUTIONS.
Posted by: Drew | July 06, 2009 at 06:40 PM
With all of talk of the Palin ordeal I have not seen or heard a press report of the tea baggers get-together. Anyone have a press account to share?
Posted by: M.Steele | July 06, 2009 at 07:04 PM
I wonder if Palin’s bomb dropped at a time that shocked her bag swallows.
Posted by: bannanaman | July 06, 2009 at 07:06 PM
Why do you continue to lie.
Posted by: Eatyheartout | July 06, 2009 at 07:21 PM
Stick your head back in the hole in the sand Drew-you struck out once again.
Posted by: oda231 | July 06, 2009 at 07:26 PM
Ahh, cry me a river, did your darlin’ lose her mind?
Posted by: bannanaman | July 06, 2009 at 07:29 PM
Nothing to say? Just pointless blather? Did she crush your little soul into speechlessness?
Posted by: bannanaman | July 06, 2009 at 07:36 PM
The prettiest girl you’ve ever seen, caring your cause as if she cared. She made your heart go a flutter. Then she threw it to the wind like so much cow sh!t.
Posted by: bannanaman | July 06, 2009 at 07:41 PM
I'm still here. Palin, on the other hand, has left her post without explanation. Actually, it's true-to-form for Palin, who spent a LOT of time out of state since November, causing many to ask the legitimate question, "does Sarah Palin even give a shit anymore for Alaska?" (even republicans are awaiting an answer to that one).
Does anyone even know if she was in AK while her state legislature was in session?
Posted by: Drew | July 06, 2009 at 07:48 PM
Thanks excon. We're soulmates! Well, except that I really am a progressive which in my vernacular means I'm probably further left than Karl Marx.
Yeah, we used to have someone who called himself ExDem. I like you better.
Older but wiser. I like the sound of that.
