It's the most recent live and local talk show live in the dead radio world mostly inhabited by zombies beamed-in from outer space.
And now it's a year old. While that's a sad commentary on local radio - a wasteland once a boiling crucible of creativity - that this little petunia in the onion patch of KVI weekend brokered shows and infomercials has survived and thrived, should be celebrated.

"Hiking the Appalachian Trail" is reportedly the new code/euphemism for having illicit sex in the political class. This after Southern "values" politician Gov. Mark Sanford's obfuscation of his travel plans when he was actually having an assignation in Argentina.
An old code in Seattle for a secret fuck-date was "going to Tukwila." You could go to Tukwila in the back seat of your co-worker's car in a downtown parking garage; in a no-tel on Aurora Avenue or in the ladies' room at The Comet.

It's an inconsequential book. There's no new information, and it neither asks new questions; nor anything of its readers. (Plus, there are no pictures, always a disappointment in a geezerly book about radio).
It's Censorship, The Threat to Silence Talk Radio by Brian Jennings and we waited until we could get it new at Amazon for $5.52. (Advice: don't pay retail for this dog!)

Jackson was a pop star, btw and a peculiar has-been at that.- why must the news machine be halted?

As talk radio blah-blahs out one side of its mouth bemoaning the "Cash for Clunkers" bill as a big government, "European-style" socialist handout, the radio business management side is hoping it'll provide a kick in the ass in a dreary summer in ad sales.

Ah yes, we remember Shawna Forde... she's the peppy, flirty, blonde, anti-immigration, Everett activist charged last week with 2 counts of first degree murder in Arizona.
On assignment for The Stranger, we talked to her in 2007 at an Everett anti-immigration rally she helped organize billed as "The Great Gringo Awakens From Siesta," featuring Jim Gilchrist, the disreputable founder of the Minuteman Project.
