Why does a colonoscopy get such bad press? It is not painful. They put you out before the probe.

Paul Johnson

Well mrogi for some the painful part is extracting one's head before the insertion of the probe.

Yes, just ask Rush or Glenn...

Air America is the mother ship, and if you listen to KPTK or KPOJ, you would never notice a difference that Thom, Stephanie, Mike, Ed, are all independent entities. Weekends still need help, but that is more KPTK's fault. Goldy would be great for a 9 to 1 am slot for local flavor, with people like Bree Walker, Peter Werbe, Peter B. Collins, to fill in other times. Im not sure how much say they have in their programming, though,

KPTK is owned by CBS Radio, but other than that, not sure how much local staff are in that studio, it could be operated by remote for all we know, although Seattle is a market that robot stations should not be in. I know they have a morning news and traffic person, and Ron Reagan does his show out of the studio, but that's about it.

KPOJ has a local host(Carl Wolfson and Christine Alexander handle the 6-8AM slot while Thom Hartman joins them at 8AM), and it is owned by Clear Channel.

KUDO has some local talk, which probably makes sense in Anchorage when the Live national slots, the best ones that is, are on the East Coast Drive Times. KUDO is owned by the IBEW, but subcontracted.

Lee Callahan is un-listenable in the mornings. I hit the FM button during the commercials for Stephanie.

I'm sure Glenn Beck is a nice guy.
He's also a raving lunatic and recovering boozer and cokehead, so caveat emptor.

Air America is interesting because they launched so strongly with such a good lineup.

Then went steadily down from there. That's the reverse trend of nearly everything in broadcast history.

They started with...

Mark & Marc in the morning—a damn good show if ever there were one

Unfiltered with Rachel Maddow et al.
Al Franken
Randi Rhodes
Mike Malloy

That's a STRONG lineup of talent.

They completely blew it in every way: In marketing, affiliate relations, sales, PR, everything.

One can not hold out much hope for AA as they have no talent now, the market for lib talk has collapsed, and so has the economy.

It's an interesting and sad story.

AA could go away tomorrow and KPTK, KPOJ, et al would continue to broadcast. I am sure Ron Reagan, Bobby Kennedy, Bill Press, David Bender would be picked up by Salem or Clear channel or would go to satellite or the internet and would continue also.

"I am sure..."

How naive can you be, surely you know that in radio you can't be sure of anything. Quit acting like your an authority when all you are is a listener to radio pee-on like the rest of us.

"like the rest of us"...

If there is a robot at KPTK that would explain why they are playing a rerun of Hartman's show and declaring the timeslot the Randi Rhodes Show. Give me a break am 1090, that is the lamest programming ever!

Hey, KVIFan my little pee-on,,it's YOU'RE, not YOUR.
And I a just expressing my opinion so dig that thong out of your crack, ok?

And, thothman, KPTK announced over a week ago that they would play a repeat of Thom in that timeslot until they figure out if Randi will return or if they want to use another host.

I just love vacation :)

And, no, putsie, ks and stevarino, I am not drinking. You will have to come up with something else.

Paul Johnson

You poor Marxists! This blog is all you have to cling to in a pathetic attempt to justify some kind of self importance. All agreeing with each other that Ed, Steph or some other loser lib talker is actually doing well in the ratings. Why NPR and the PI themselves even say so! Oh yeah, the Pravda Intelligecia is bankrupt. I forgot. You need to understand and focus. As Dylan said some 40+ years ago, the loser now will be later the win. For the times they are a changin. This time it is your turn to fall. So clip off that grey ponytail and wake up! Our kids and grandkids don't want to go down in your pot filled ideology. Oh and the real ratings put KMPS tops in music. Ain't that great!

You sorry righties. The self importance is we won, you guys lost. Ain't that great! oh btw, Bushler had the lowest job creation since 1960. What is it you're clinging too?

The Big Johnson said:" This blog is all you have to cling to in a pathetic attempt to justify some kind of self importance."

Yeah, yeah, and how many times have you posted here today, duckie?

I love to hear Glenn Beck debate Keith "Bathtub Boy" Olberman.. I'd bet Bathtub Boy would chicken out - I could be wrong. Even more intriguing, who would be selected to moderate it ?

That is exactly my point. What Program Director worth his or her salt, uses a rerun of the morning show for a fill-in for a show that may or may not be coming back? I mean WTF!? Get a clue AM1090 you can't just string us along with rebroadcasts and expect the loyal listeners to tune in. Randi has seemed to disappear into some kind of radio bermuda triangle where noone can explain her vanishing. The information age of today requires at least some explanation as to why you are running reruns in place of some host that is missing.

"Hey, KVIFan my little pee-on,,it's YOU'RE, not YOUR."

3 Months Sparky. Not bad. Now lets see if you can keep them other "blog resolutions" you made at the begining of the year.

I too would love to see Olbermann kick Glenn Beck's fat ass. Especially when Beck starts his pathetic sobbing again (except this time it wouldn't be his usual theatrics, given that it would start BEFORE the debate hehehe). Keith might want to back off, out of mercy for the shniveler from Fox.

aw crap, you're right, Steven. You got me there. But since I have already screwed up...it's "those other" not "them other."

I know what you mean, thothman, but actually, a repeat of Thom is great for me because I don't get to hear him during the day.

Which means April 1 is the 5th anniversary of Sue Ellicott first stepping on one of Marc Maron's punch lines.

"He's also a raving lunatic and recovering boozer and cokehead, so caveat emptor."

(sigh)... one little slip and you're forever banished to the dark side.
