All he wanted was a goddamned Frosty™.
Glennn Beck, (KTTH m-f, 6-9a) in a Wendy's for a Frosty™ last Saturday night, was accosted as he stood in line by a truck driver with "food in his hair" who called him a "racist bigot."
Here's the story from the mouth of the hypermanic, pop-eyed, chubby-cheeked, arm-flapping, spittle-spraying, race-banging, grenade-launching, cliche-spewing, sex-obsessed, fag-baiting, right-wing cheer-king for violence against diversity:
Wow. Is this who we've become? Is this who we've become?
Who WE'VE become, Glennn??? Spare us puh-leaze, you glib fake. You've grabbed every headline you could by trying to ignite the racial and ethnic slime of the male knuckle-dragging wing of the wingnut base -- you can't get all self-righteous on us now now...
Slime is hard to light, but here are some of his more notorious attempts:
~~ Beck once speculated that Rep. Dennis Kucinich's wife was under the influence of "some sort of ... date rape drug," one that is "not powerful enough to actually knock you out, but it's powerful enough to, like, make you think that you're not standing next to Dennis Kucinich and making out with him." Maybe, he said, the right drug could be "cyanide," adding: "That would be the only thing that would really dull the senses enough. Even then, your dead body would be like, 'Dennis Kucinich has his tongue in my mouth.' "
~~ "Hey, you know what? There are good Muslims and bad Muslims. We need to be the first ones in the recruitment office lining up to shoot the bad Muslims in the head"
~~ He's called President Jimmy Carter a "waste of skin," Cindy Sheehan a "prostitute."
~~ "When I see a 9/11 victim family on television, or whatever, I'm just like, 'Oh shut up' I'm so sick of them because they're always complaining."
~~ “The only [Katrina victims] we’re seeing on television are the scumbags.”
~~ He commented on a mock ad produced by subscribers to his website depicting a giant refinery that produces "Mexinol," a fuel made from the bodies of illegal Mexican immigrants. Beck read from the ad: "At Evil Conservative Industries, we know four things for certain. The country needs cheap, alternative fuel source. Two: the human body is 18 percent carbon. Three: carbons can be turned into hydrocarbons. Four: we have a buttload of illegal aliens in our country.
~~ "I'm thinking about killing Michael Moore, and I'm wondering if I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it."
~~ To Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), the first Muslim congressman, Beck said, “I have been nervous about this interview with you because what I feel like saying is, 'Sir, prove to me that you are not working with our enemies.’”
~~ He's advocated nuking Venezuela and the Middle East.
Beck is ending his show on CNN Headline News after being hired by Fox News to host the 5p hour, beginning next spring. Beck signed a multi-year agreement to host a weekday programs well as a weekend show.
Although we defend his right- blah-bitty blah-blah- to say it, but we love that Joe the Truck Driver pitched the hateful little hemorrhoid some feces on a November night, and might possibly intruded on his Frosty™ moment.

Tommy
The only thing we really know about Gary is that he/she is a very creative and entertaining writer. I just figure that GG is one of those human creatures.
We all assumed (yes, that word) that GG was a gay male. We really can not know for certain.

didn't you all hear long ago (from our own joanie) that Gay Gary is actually, Puget Sound, no wait I mean Duffman...err I mean nevets....Oh I don't know...I'm just so f'ing confused....

fify year old who shorts the market...
Sounds like chucks.

I would buy Joe the Truck Driver's book, and then throw it at Glen Beck in a Wendy's restaurant.

BTW, Tommy and chucks, if I knew how to short the markets, I'd do it. That's how the big boys play. They are talking about changing the laws on that.
As long as it makes money for the big boys, it is okay. But when the little people try it, they try to stop it. I don't much like that either.
I don't think there is anything wrong with playing the game that way. But, yes, there's always a loser. I can't control that. But I certainly understand your point. I've been on the losing end myself. I try not to sell low but when I watch it go lower and lower, I wonder if I've been the fool.
It is speculation and no one should be protected from it. Including the big guys are getting it.
Anybody see that citigroup is in trouble? Isn't that Rubin? Our former "wise" man of the treasure or some similar department?
They should all fail and our mondern-day modern-tech entrepreneurs take over. It would be hard but necessary in the long run. Perhaps Obama's race is a handicap here. Being the first black Pres, he can't muck it up by going off-line and failing.
What a situation we're in.
I'm not previewing so hope this makes sense.

Hey Joanie
How's the cat? Brrrhwwwaaaaa

the last message was a Tommy impostor. They aren't going to get rid of shorting altogether nor am i in favor of that. theyre gettign rid of illegal naked shoritng hopefully and hopefully Obama will change the Uptick Rule back to preBush and maybe some other changes. the following is not for Joanie but for those who don't know all about shorting- A shorter borrows stocks from a broker, sells it to a "mark" at say 8.75. then if the shorter gets his way, the rube immediately loses money as the stock plummets in price. Then the shorter covers at say 5.34 buying back the stock at the lower price so he can square things with the broker and take away a nice profit. in illegal naked shorting there are no actual shares in existence that the shorter "borrows'. phantom shares. Nonnaked Shorting is perfectly legal but i personally dont engage in it. its a little too much liek martha stewart selling some unsuspecting bastard those doomed shares of IMCL (Imclone)after being tipped that their cancer drug had bombed in fda trials. everyone has to do what they are comfortable with. The uptick rule was in placebefore Bush got in and was a good rule that prevented bear raiders and shorters from unfairly shorting down the prices of good companies. it required shorters to wait until the share price had tick ed up in the green direction again between shorting thestock. bush got rid it for his corrupt wall street buddies so htey could gangup on stocks and short good profitable companies down mercilessly.when i asked the Republican Nazi whether he was in favor of this kind of unfair busting down of their share prices by unfettered ganging up of shorters he immediately answered yes because it allowed him to make money. itwas liek talking to a shark, wiht his prehistoric amoral brain, not a person. thats whats wrong with people like him.

I bought WAMU with the intention of owning it for a short time. I thought it was a good company and was being marketed too cheap.
I put in a sell order for when it hit a certain value. It hit that value with in hours basically.
I got lucky. Reak lucky. Nobody on the face of the earth was more shocked with WA Mu's demise than I.
Holly crap, that was way too close.
But it was not a short sale. I put up my own money, betting that the value would go up.
I usually think long and hard on long term investing. This was probably more against my MO, and I probably won't do it again.

Sparky & Cyn -
The origination of the Census Bureau "50% failure rate of US marriages" can be easily found at this website: (see Point #3)
http://www.divorcereform.org/rates.html
While -- like anything in life -- it's more complex than just one number, it does demonstrate that there is an historical source for that number. I expect that an apology from GG and Duffman will be forthcoming??
Posted by: big em | November 22, 2008 at 01:57 PM
Joanie is confused about her market terms.
Tommy is correct.
Chucks --for the record-- didn't short sell. He bought low and then sold when it went up. Which is in no way a 'short' sale. Chucks made a bet and it paid off. I know of someone who bought it at $5 thinking that there was no way it would stay so low.
He took it in the shorts...
Chucks, count your blessings.

the problem with the 50% failure of marriages statistic is that it doesnt mean half of all PEOPLE who get married get divorced,a common fallacy among people who see that data. a certain percentage of the population gets married 2, 3 , 4 or more times thus skewingthe statistics up. Idon'tknow what the exact statistic is but well over 50% of people stay married to theirfirst spouse.

we should get GG to come back and explain statistics to our schoolteachers.

You are actually quite charitable in your evaluation. At our site, we express a bit of skepticism about the entire incident.

Hia philosophy and demeanor reminds me of the two young guys who killed their "inferior' friend
This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever read here, bar none.
In another thread the topic of turkeys came up. Frankly, most turkeys I've met are smarter than most Americans, which is among the reasons I don't eat them or other animals. And yet while I don't eat living things (except my g/f ... but that's another story) I have murderous characteristics? Give me a break.
This is the favorite tshirt I own. It's a perfect illustration of the nightmares that will greet the real murderers in the next life.
Only the physically and mentally weak eat meat. Übermensch do not.
Right now nothing will convince him he's not the smartest guy in the room.
Probably true. I've yet to see a single comment here that would make me believe otherwise. But that's a YP, not a MP.
I expect that an apology from GG and Duffman will be forthcoming??
You're incorrect. Dredging up stats that are nearly 2 decades old doesn't exactly pass muster but is, frankly, rather amusing so thanks for that much.
(Jesus, I wasn't even alive then!)
But, I guess if you keep searching, eventually you might be able to find some tortured, stretched manner to explain away Sparky/Cyn's slack-jawed awe at the world.
So, keep up that go get 'em spirit!

Looks like President Elect Obama's finacial wizard Warren Buffet isn't doing so well these days also in the Stock Market. Lost 9 Billion in the month of October alone. Lets hope he gives President Obama better advice when it comes to taxpayer money.
Posted by: nevets | November 22, 2008 at 09:32 PM
Warren Buffet is a good American. He's tring to do what a good teacher does: model what we should all be doing which is not panicking.
Tommy, that may not have been for me, but it was interesting nevertheless.
And, chucks, you're right. I didn't understand what the term meant. My point has always been that you talk as if your "luck" was somehow correlated to "pulling yourself up by your bootstraps."
One of my parent volunteers is an MIT trained economist. He was talking as if this whole thing has been brought on by an emotional reaction to the failures on Wall Street and that the market will correct itself. But that panic and emotion are creating and continuing the problem.
Do you agree with that, tommy? It seems to me that co much money has been taken out of the economy by greed, corruption, the lack of a manufacturing base, outsourcing and war, that this was inevitable.
If you understand this, I'd be interesting in your views.

BTW, if naked short selling is as you describe, I appreciate your take on the deliberate corruption Bush instituted. Seems like another reason to loathe the man.
You still think he's a great guy, chucks?
chucks? Oh chucks? Where'd you go this time?
