Let freedom ringggggg!
Let the white dove singggg!
Let the whole world know that
Today is a day of reckoning.
let the weak be strong, let the right be wrong
roll the stone away, let the guilty pay,
It’s independence day!
~~"Independence Day,"
by Gretchen Peters; sung by Martina McBride
Liberals will laugh knowing each time they hear Martina McBride open The Sean Hannity Show with the stirring, patriotic Independence Day -- Planned Parenthood gets a kickback donation in Sarah Palin's name!
The song, despite the accompanying sounds of eagle squawks and bombs bursting in air, isn't a patriotic throat-lumper -- it's about domestic violence!
Hannity hates the pro-life group, and considers it "genocidal." because Planned Parenthood, with many other health services for women, gives away birth control, and counsels abortions.

reproductive rights)
Nashville songstress Gretchen Peters who wrote the song, said on her
website she decided to donate the song's royalties after the Republican
Party used the song as accompaniment when Palin went on stage following
Thursday's vice presidential debate in St. Louis.
She was embarrassed enough to start giving royalty checks from play of the song to the important pro-abortion, women's health non-profit in Palin's name, whose daughter, Bristol is PP's "Oops" Parent of The Year.
Peters says Palin "would ban abortion even in cases of rape and incest." That they would use this song as " rallying cry" for such a person, was "beyond irony."
"They
are co-opting the song, completely overlooking the context and message,
and using it to promote a candidate who would set women's rights back
decades," Peters said.
(photo: Martina McBride: she let the white dove sing... right up Hannity's nose!).
Independence Day, McBride's 1994 hit, is about a woman dealing with an physically abusive husband and sung from the point of view of her daughter.
More lyrics you don't hear on the Hannity show:
Well word gets a round
in a small, small town
they said he was a dangerous man
But mama was proud
and she stood her ground
she knew she was on the losin’ end
Some folks whispered
some folks talked
but everybody looked the other way
And when time ran out
there was no one about
on independence day.

O/T -
Tee-hee! The first reports are coming in!
Across the country, authorities are becoming concerned that the nation's financial woes could turn increasingly violent...
Oh, but don't worry you sunshine cherubs with the sunny dispositions and optimistic attitude, it will certainly get worse. Much worse, my cherubs. (Insert the "R" word here.)
(BTW - OB and myself now have tickets to leave for Nizhny Novgorod on Nov. 15. They're R/T for now but circumstances may dictate dropping the return leg and making them open-ended.)

Why don't you move that up a bit and leave...like tomorrow.
Posted by: jaonie | October 14, 2008 at 07:25 AM
There is a nationwide drive to donate money to PP in her name that will last up until the election. Very fitting.

I think I like the Carrie Underwood version of the song better than McBride's.
I always wondered why Hannity used that song since one of the lines in it is: "Let the Right be wrong..." I know it's used in a different context but still.

McCain attended ACORN sponsored rally in 2006
crooksandliars
Posted by: Coiler | October 14, 2008 at 09:36 AM
Wow, he attended a rally to support his own immigration legislation!
And ACORN was one of 10 sponsors?
How scandalous!
"The rally in Miami is being sponsored by the New American Opportunity campaign (NAOC) in partnership with ACORN, Catholic Legal Services - Archdiocese of Miami, Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center, Florida Immigrant Coalition, Miami Dade College, People for the American Way/Mi Familia Vota en Acción, Service Employees International Union, and UNITE HERE"

McCain is a joke It's more like how hypocritical of him. He ran a trash campaign and it backfired.
Posted by: Coiler | October 14, 2008 at 10:44 AM
Malkin is thrashing him too
Sigh: McCain and his friends at…ACORN

“I’ll rely on people to judge me by the company that I keep,” McCain said in February.
That’s not working out so well now, is it?
Posted by: Coiler | October 14, 2008 at 10:49 AM
Agreed,, the McCain campaign is the worst I think I've ever seen.
As Thom Hartmann said today: "McCain is running a Carl Rove campaign and (we) the American people have had enough of that."
Still, Obama scares the s**t out of me.
I think I'm voting for Pat Paulson.

Whatever happened to McCain's reform-minded immigration position? He seems to have forgotten all about that since he's tried to bend over so far for his right-wing base. He's totally lost the standing he once had in the Hispanic community. The long-term outlook for Republicans in this rapidly growing sector of the electorate is dismal. He was the one R who could have won many of them over.

Today, McCain hired a director of his "transition team" should he be elected. The Director used to be a lobbyist for Saddam Hussein.

Gee, thanks for all the updates sparky; after all no one else keeps up with all the news thats worth repeating - but you. Incredible how full of yourself you are. This race is over; or haven't you heard. Point-Set-Match! It's Obama time; so start your googling-study of defending his upcoming actions. Good Luck!

The race isnt over until Nov. 5.
We are taking nothing for granted.
If you dont like what I post, dont read it.

"federal investigators were unable to uncover any evidence connecting Timmons to Saddam."
Now why would Sparky leave that out. Maybe she doesn't want you to know Mr. Timmons has never been charged with a crime dealing with the Iraqi government. Sparky?

It's good the movie "W" is coming out right now
Posted by: Coiler | October 14, 2008 at 06:02 PM
sparky sez:
'We are taking nothing for granted.'
I got that implication when I saw that you attempted to get Mickey Mouse registered.
Posted by: Duffman | October 14, 2008 at 06:03 PM
Yes, cause we'll all be in need of a good laugh...soon.
Posted by: Duffman | October 14, 2008 at 06:04 PM
Did somebody forget something?
Posted by: nevets | October 14, 2008 at 06:24 PM
I was listening to Hannity today and I think he got rid of that song. All I heard was a Hank Williams Jr. song titled "Its a McCain/Palin Tradition"
Posted by: nevets | October 14, 2008 at 06:30 PM
I didnt say he was found guilty of anything, Steven. However, the people he worked with were:
McCain Transition Chief Aided Saddam Lobbying Effort
Murray Waas: "William Timmons, the Washington lobbyist who John McCain has named to head his presidential transition team, aided an influence effort on behalf of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein to ease international sanctions against his regime."
"The two lobbyists who Timmons worked closely with over a five year period on the lobbying campaign later either pleaded guilty to or were convicted of federal criminal charges that they had acted as unregistered agents of Saddam Hussein's government."
I am just curious why he would hire someone with TIES TO A KNOWN TERRORIST. lol
Posted by: sparky | October 14, 2008 at 06:47 PM
We need more of these
Posted by: sparky | October 14, 2008 at 07:40 PM
Who is the terrorist you are refering to? I dont see Osama in the story. If it is Saddam, are you now claiming that Saddam was involved in 9/11? Be specific please.
Posted by: nevets | October 14, 2008 at 09:14 PM
wow..I guess I am going to have to make crayon drawings for you Steven. Inference and nuance are not your strong suits...
1. No I dont think Saddam was involved in 9/11 in any way. It was Dickless Cheney and Condi and Bush who tried to pass off that meme on the American public. They called him a terrorist, remember? Some people still believe it, even after Bushie admitted he wasn't.
2. Republicans are trying to tie Obama to a "domestic terrorist."
After weeks of Caribou Barbie screeching "TERRORIST!! TERRORIST!! OBAMA IS A TERRORIST!!" McCain goes and gets himself an advisor who worked with the very person the Republicans have spent years trying to equate with terrorism.
Oh the humanity!!! lol
Posted by: sparky | October 14, 2008 at 09:30 PM
Duh'fman: 'I got that implication when I saw that you attempted to get Mickey Mouse registered.
Geez, I wish she had! I'd have loved to see who showed up to vote...
What a trip duh'f.
Malloy just referenced Chris Buckley's departure from National Review. Check it out you has-beens: "The Daily Beast"
Posted by: joanie | October 14, 2008 at 09:52 PM
BTW, Malloy is saying that the rhetoric on right is a direct attempt to get Obama killed. What do you think? Does McCain want it that bad? Palin wouldn't blink an eye, that's for sure. The Uma Thurman of the right...
Posted by: joanie | October 14, 2008 at 09:54 PM
But what is more disturbing Sparky, is you still want Hussein, who is STILL friends with a terrorist for President. How can you believe Hussein will go after Osama when he wouldn't even dis-associate himself with one in the past.
And since when did you start believing what Bush and Cheny said.
Posted by: nevets | October 15, 2008 at 07:00 AM
And you did read that quote I posted above from the same article you used.
"federal investigators were unable to uncover any evidence connecting Timmons to Saddam."
None. Nada. Zero.
Thats why I was confused. Where is the connection?
Posted by: nevets | October 15, 2008 at 07:13 AM
1. Timmons was not among those who were arrested for workin with Saddam. But he worked with the people who were arrested, and they lobbied for Saddam. He is working as the Director of Transition for McCain. They meet every day. Face to Face. He associated with what the Republicans called a KNOWN TERRORIST!!!!!!!! ( And I dont believe a word that comes out of the mouths of Dickless/Bush. That was your side.)
2.McCain is friends with G. Gordon Liddy, who served four and a half years in prison as a result of his role in Watergate, plotted to murder journalist Jack Anderson and Howard Hunt and to firebomb the Brookings Institution, and who instructed radio audiences in the 1990s to shoot federal law enforcement agents and bragged that he named his own shooting targets after Bill and Hillary Clinton. McCain and Liddy are STILL buddies. Does that bother you at all? What makes you think McCain would go after Osama bin Laden when he cannot keep Sarah Palin in check from stirring up racist outbursts at her rallies???
2. Obama is not friends with Bill Ayers. Not sure how many times I need to write that or he needs to say it.
They served on a board that looked into school reform. They were selected by REPUBLICANS. Obama did not launch his campaign in the living room of a terrorist. He publicly admonished Ayers for what he did when Obama was EIGHT YEARS OLD. The REPUBLICANS on the board say there is no associating between Ayers and Obama.
I can't make it any clearer than that, Steven. If you are still confused, you are on your own.
