Billo Reilly, stinging from the financial sodomizing he got from owning 3000 shares of Merrill Lynch, went after fellow radio talkers Thursday in a rant that's echoing throughout
conservative media.
“It gets me angry,” he said. “I do talk radio and most talk radio is conservative-dominated ideologues; Kool-Aid drinking idiots. Idiots. Screaming at you that this is socialism, this is this, this is that. ‘It’s Clinton’s fault.’ It’s Clinton’s fault? He hasn’t been in office in 8 years. It’s Bush’s fault! It happened under Bush’s watch.”
He trashed radio hosts for opposing a $700 billion bailout for the financial industry and called them “idiots,” “charlatans,” and “right-wing liars.”
Right-wing media has been so slow to call Bush a spade partly because they simply don't want or know how to admit they have been so wrong. That admission would call their judgment into question to ditto-headed listeners to whom they've been reassuring for years that everything's OK. (read our comment threads to read some of these Bush-botic never-say-I'm-wrong conservatives).
Talk radio has staked miles of credibility sticking up for a president who will forever be a Herbert Hoover, Warren G. Harding or Richard Nixon to history-learning school children .
In an obvious reference to Rush Limbaugh, Billo spouted: "These idiots, I mean they're misleading you, they're lying to you, They're rich, these guys. Big cigars, all of that. 'Oh yeah, my private jet' and they're saying, 'oh no, no bailout, ah ah, no way.'
(He's smarting yet from Rush calling him "Ted Baxter" in the New York Times Magazine a few months ago. (Baxter was the blowhearty news anchor on the iconic Mary Tyler Moore Show).
(photo: Baxter comma Ted)
Billo continued: "Hey, you're gonna get it! Not them! That foreign investment pulls out, we are toast. And they'll pull out if this bailout doesn't happen. Are you getting the message here? Walk away from these liars, these right wing liars. Walk away from them. They're not looking out for you."
He threatened violence the liberals too --such as Rep. Barney Frank, and Sen. Chris Dodd, (who are actually on his side for the bail-out).
I don't even want to talk about the far left. Barney Frank, DISGUSTING, POINTING FINGERS! It's YOU, you big fat toad! YOU, Frank, YOU, Dodd. Sitting there [...] It's YOU, Dodd! YOU, you knew!
I swear to God if they were in this room right now, I would hit them. Dodd and Frank, the House finance, the Senate finance. THEY KNEW, DON'T POINT A FINGER AT ANYBODY ELSE OR I'LL BREAK THAT FINGER OFF.
SO, YOU GOT CORRUPTION ON THE RIGHT AND YOU GOT CORRUPTION ON THE LEFT, and who gets it? YOU GET IT? You, the hard working person. The next politician that gets up there and points a finger, I'm going to go after them myself!
SHUT UP! FIX IT! THESE ARE PEOPLE'S LIVES! I got enough money in the bank, okay?
Here's the audio: it's scary!
Right-wing blabbermeisters reacted to Billo's tantrum.
Laura Ingraham (KVI m-f, 3-6p) promised on the radio Friday to remove what's left of O'Reilly's ball sac next time she 's on The O'Reilly Factor.
Squeaky Mark Le-VIN (KVI m-f, 6-9p) who, for reasons known unto himself prefers a faux French
pronunciation of his name rather than the Jewish one, said: “What a
buffoon! He doesn’t want to talk about socialism. He doesn’t want to
talk about the beginnings of this scandal. No. The same guy who claims
to have led the boycott against France that forced France to do
whatever France was supposed to do. What a joke. What a moron. He
doesn’t understand. He is Ted Baxter.”
(photo: Mark LeVIN. "prefers the French")
Billo finally saw the light about the Bush administration a couple weeks ago:
"He’s done. He’s through. … He will now go down in history… as an ineffectual leader. And I’ll tell you the reason why it’s poor leadership on his part. The people that he picked to run certain things have been disastrous. And no leadership and now Americans are getting hurt."
(Bush broke laws, ignored subpoenas, spent us into ruin, tortured people, fractured the English language , lied us into an intractable war, etc., etc. -- and folks like O'Reilly fiercely and publicly defended him. But when his incompetence fucked with their money, that at last was the bridge too far.
This is the conservative movement breaking up like an ice floe in the global warmth. i't a lovely sight.
First and foremost, it is not PC to call a shovel a spade. Good Gawd, we have Obambam out there.
WTF is wrong with BillO?
You do not call any tool a spade.
Never. Ever.
On a serious note, will somebody please take Michaels photo shop things away from him? It is for the children. He is scaring the crap out of them. You are fucking with their little heads and we are gonna need a new gummint program to fix them.
How we gonna pay for that program?
The Save The Kids From BlaM's Photo Shop Fright Pictures gummint program?

Hey, O'Reilly isn't a knee jerk type of guy. You may not like him but he is all over the board. He is more of a Populist than anything.
Okay, just a nice youtube find. Ronald Reagan campaigning for Harry Truman. At a time when not many were giving Truman a chance.
Interesting to hear him stumping for Hubert Humphrey et al. So when you hear Ron Reagan speaking today just recall that his Dad made the move not long after Truman got elected.

Obama caught lying on his intentional defunding the troops in the field to stop the Surge. Don't believe us, believe Joe Biden. You remember him, he's the one that said Obama wasn't ready to be Commander in Chief.
Go Joe Biden, Go!
Any comments Skedaddlers?
"According to Joe Biden, the move to defund the troops was deliberate — an attempt to interfere with the surge strategy that wound up winning the war. Biden, Obama, and the rest of the Democrats who voted against the funding wanted to force the administration into a precipitous withdrawal that would have left Iraq a failed state. And it also would have defunded Afghanistan, which Obama has called the central front on the war on terror."

Funny that you seem to only hear of Obama or Biden contradicting each other, not McCain,Palin or other Repubs. closer to the campaign. It seems a lot like the Obama campaign has stuff they are trying to hide so they don't negatively affect the electorate. Of course, the MSM is the big enabler here - they are giving the Manchurian candidate a free pass.
Here is the information of BHO's main mentor back when he was a community organizer - Saul Alinsky.
http://www.latter-rain.com/ltrain/alinski.htm
He has styled his campaign using the principles in Alinsky's book - "Rules for Radicals". See if you can recognize the similarity between the Obama campaign and Alinsky's principals. I don't expect to hear from Ph( Jo)anie or most other Obamaphiles here, but never say never. yada, yada, yada

Should be; "See if you can recognize the similarity between the Obama campaign and Alinsky's principles." (Spelling error corrected)

If you want to get a taste of the Weather Underground, PBS did a good/balanced piece on 'em back in 2002. Many of 'em still alive today are interviewed in this piece to include Bill Ayers/Bernadette Dorn. If memory serves, this PBS documentary would have aired in 2002 around the time that Obama was working closely with him.
Anyway, here is the PBS documentary. It's in 9 parts on Youtube. Parts 6-9 are the best. Each part is about 9 minutes long.
Some of 'em like Rudd are sheepish/ashamed others are unrepentant like Ayers

ROFLMAO at how Bla"M despises Rush and Levin, but if they pile on O'Reilly, their quotes are engraved on BW it is great fun.
I really believe that you do not want the Fairness Doctrine to be signed into law, because if it is and conservative talk radio largely goes tits up, Blatherwatch would soon be on the endangered species list....
Posted by: KS | September 27, 2008 at 10:19 PM
KS: BlatherWatch does not support the Fairness Doctrine, never have. It would never pass -- it's but a red herring thrown by right-wingers to try to scare listeners into voting Republican.
And yes, I do love to watch Rush, LeVIN, and Billo fighting among themselves. Like watching a rattlesnake fight a scorpion fight a viper. Delicious!

Despite the disastrous debacle of the 8 year Bush administration, the Republicans will win the White House for an additional 4 years. The Dems have a death wish. Just when they had a landslide victory for a Hillary presidency at their fingertips; they nominated Obama. White America will never put a black man in the White House. No way...No how.

I don't watch O'Reilly. So, what's up with him? He's right. It is mostly the doing of the right starting with Reagan and helped along by Clinton. But, he's got lots of money. Why is he trashing his own?
I don't hear anybody on this blog saying he's wrong. So, you're all idiots? Well, heck, I've been saying that for a long, long time.
Maybe there's an ounce of decency in Billo after all.
Posted by: joanie | September 28, 2008 at 04:17 AM
If so, that's an ounce more than chucks has.
How's that good little company, WAMU, doing?

I heard Levin make his coments on Friday. Has Bill O had an epithiny? Oberman may now find himself at a loss for materal! NA!

Finally, on the Bracelet that Obama tried to use to surf in on some of McCain's valor it turns out not only does he not know the name of the soldier but the family has been asking him NOT to wear it for campaign purposes.
Obama, no shame?
Just bad all the way around...
Posted by: Puget Sound | September 28, 2008 at 10:53 AM
Ho hum.
KS is going to throw acorns at us all day while sputs chants bracelet over and over...
And these are the burning issues on the right?
Posted by: joanie | September 28, 2008 at 11:52 AM
O'Reilly is a shithead. Lots of economists warned of the impending financial meltdown for several years. Billo never invited them on his show. Standard & Poors, Moody's, and Fitch Ratings always issue warnings about risky investment firms. Billo never invited any of those representatives on his show. Billo preferred to spend hundreds of hours devoted to bogus body language experts.
