Maybe he thought he deserved the Peabody for DOING IT LIVE!!!

Puget Sound

Better he keeps talking about the Peabody and stays off the Falafall talk.

joanie

I saw that on CSpan. It was repeated several times. Molly Ivans was also part of the panel. She sort of sat there quietly taking it all in.

It was hilarious. Billo got madder than I've ever seen him. he was pretty rude, too. I think it was the LA book expo. The audience was treated to something special that day.

I just googled it and it was LA book expo. watch it here

joanie

I just watched the clip. It is too short. The conflict went on for a looooong time before Schroeder took over.

Remembering it makes me laugh out loud.

joanie

Sorry, last comment. I see you said LA book expo...have to read better.

I love watching the Miami Book Festival and the LA book expo. They're the best. I now need an HD TV to get them.

Whatever happened to Seattle's Bookfest?

howie in seattle

Love the Dumont reference.

Tommy008

Joanie says-"ooh ooh Billo got madder than I've ever seen him oooh oooh"- I 'v e posted plenty of nasty blogs about O'Reily, but the twerp Franken had apparently just spoken for 35 minutes when he was only supposed to talk for 15, then tries to barge into Bill's time as he begings to speak. O'rEILLY WAS PERFECTLY JUSTIFIED TO TELL THE LITTLE TROLL AND GARGOYLSE TO SHUTUP. Because Joanie doesn't like him it's ooh teeheeehee look at the bad bad man, he's so angry and not feminized like he should be", but if the same thing had happened to Joanie as she tried to speak on her Seattle panel on,say, Teachers in the Ghetto after a nasty conservative had just apoken for twice his allotted time she would have shouted shutup too. Totally bogus, dishonest crap. Franken is not a nice or good man.

RedmonDem

Tom--dude! Get some help! You're all pissed off at people you don't even know. Your shit is seriously fucked up.

Tommy008

anyone over the age of 25 who still says "dude" is an idiot. RD could you just uh not reSpond to my posts . thanks in advance you're one of the duller and least socially redeeming contributors here. i'm not "all pissed off" (another idiot phrase) Joanie isn't getting a free pass around here when she's dishonest or bogus, that's all

Fremont

T-8, what has happened to you?! Why, I remember when you were a compelling writer with an incisive edge...are you now among Obama's "bitter" masses?

H.I.S, plz explain the "Dumont" reference for me...I'm an idiot, dude..

"crack staff (staff crack?)" Another notable Bla'M-o-propism (worthy of theft, MF & HIS...)

Fremont

Yep, Nut, I glommed onto every salacious syllable of the lurid Lorena tale...twice! Made my day...!

joanie

I think Tommy must have celebrated another birthday and still unpublished. Running out of time, huh Tommy?

Calm down. At your age, you can't afford these temper tantrums.

sparky

Fremont, I bought my brother a shirt for Christmas from a company that repairs cement walls and sidewalks.
The shirt says:

"A Dry Crack is a Happy Crack."

sparky

This was wayyyyy before my time, Fremont, but this is what Wikipedia has to say:

The DuMont Television Network was the world's first commercial television network, beginning operation in the United States in 1946. It was owned by DuMont Laboratories, a television equipment and set manufacturer. The network was hindered by the prohibitive cost of broadcasting, by Federal Communications Commission regulations which restricted the company's growth, and even by the company's partner, Paramount Pictures. Despite several innovations in broadcasting and the creation of one of television's biggest stars of the 1950s, the network never found itself on solid financial ground. Forced to expand on UHF channels during an era when UHF was not profitable, DuMont ceased broadcasting in 1956.

DuMont's latter-day obscurity has prompted at least one notable TV historian to refer to it as the "Forgotten Network". A few popular DuMont programs, such as Cavalcade of Stars and Emmy-award winner Life is Worth Living, appear in TV retrospectives or are mentioned briefly in books about U.S. television history, but almost all the network's programming was destroyed in the 1970s.

joanie

And I thought he was referring to Margaret Dumont!

Tommy008

"round the Dumont" is surely a reference to the Televison set in the 1950's household of the writer, not the Dumont TV network. Do you notice how Joanie can't refute the substance of what i posted, but merely cHimes in with her catty girlfriends in silly personal attacks? Picture this- the Seattle Teachers Union panel on higher pay for teachers- Joanies fellow panel members Sparky and Fremont both speak for 15 minutes each, respectfully following the 15 min rule set in advance. Then panel member Tim Eyman gets up and blathers for 35 minues, devoting much of that time to attacking Joanie personally but coming up with only one supserficial, flimsy example of her supposed acts of bad character. Finally Joanie is allowed to speak but after less than a minute into her speech, Eyman rudely interrupts her. What does Joanie do? A. bursts into tears and runs off the stage crying "I want my mommy!" B. Shouts "Shutup Tim! you already had your time." We all know the answer.

sparky

joanie, how is it that all the boys are fighting over you????

sparky

DuMont, the company that made TVs, had a network as well. Thank goodness we don't have to buy Fox Tvs.

sparky

Who was B and what was he/she doing at the debate?

Puget Sound

I think B stands for the 'Beatdown' that is about to transpire if I am guessing correctly.

Puget Sound

...cause Tommy is just a little too fast and a little too quick.

sparky

Nope..I meant the last sentence-

B. Shouts "Shutup Tim! you already had your time."

Tommy008

Who is B? i thought you were joking. B is a choice not a peraon. "What does Joanie do?" A-she bursts into tears...B-she shouts Shutup Tim" was what i wrote really that Hard to understand? Jesus H. cHRIST

Puget Sound

Tommy 008
Good Stuff, you need to keep it going.

sparky

I can see clearly now, the rain has gone. Thank you for taking time from your busy schedule to clarify.

duane

Tommy is clearly losing it

joanie

Oh dear. Do I sound like a cry baby? Tommy, please refrain from judging others by yourself.

As for the clarity of your writing? Hmmm...

Tommy008

once again, my piece just sailed over your head and you even took offense at something that doesn't exist. The point was, SINCE YOU'RE A stand up for yourself type liek OReilly, or at least play one on the internet, that of course you wouldn't burst into tears and run off the stage crying for mommy. Your cHoice would be B- TELL TIM TO SHUTUP. That makes you such a total intellectually dishonest hypocrite since you would be infuriated if your hate object troll of coice Tim Eyman had done to you what the little gargoyle Franken had done to Bill.

Tommy008

Are you stupefied on plum wine, Joanie, since leaving the building Friday, because you really should have been able to understand my point, as a college grad.

sparky

Alas, tommy, it is up to the writer to make sure what is written is clear. College education does not include mind reading.

Puget Sound

Seemed clear to me.

Puget Sound

I do like Tommy's theory of DWI -Drinking While Interneting- as the culprit.

I'm just saying what people are thinking...Shick Shadel, Shick Shadel, Shick Shadel...give 'em two weeks and they'll give you back your life.

Since she has the summer off anyway why not get your life back on track.

sparky

My life is perfectly on track, thank you. See, this is all elementary sentence structure.

And no, not everyone thinks joanie is drinking. It was I who questioned tommy about his writing, not joanie, by the way.

Joanie Drinking for Obama

I am drunk not anymore (hiccup)

joanie

Tommy, at least you used to be original if not clear. Defaulting to putsie's little "drinking" obsession isn't worthy of you. It is all he has in his limited arsenal. That and "Good stuff."

Surely, you can do better.

When did it become so important to you what I think? Hmm?

KS

PS - the first step is admitting she has a problem of DWI. The second step is saying "Yes, we can" - (the other 11 steps get short circuited, because God is not that relevant in the progressive's view of the world, thanks to their cohorts - the ACLU.

sparky

5 cliches in one post. You may have set a record, KS.

Puget Sound

KS
Good stuff.

1) high fivin white guys
2) the 'you must want joanie'
3) circle jerk comment

Talk about cliches...

I have a garden to tend to.

KS

Really ? 5 cliches in one post - reel them off...

joanie

Well, I see I missed another riveting discussion of me. My, I feel important.

It's either me or the garden, huh putsie?

I wonder if Michael realizes how important I am to this blog. I might have to ask for a commission.

duane

putsie and ks have a garden?

Marion Delgado

Tommy008 is wrong, because O'Reilly lied about Franken's time like a little child, and Tommy08 takes him at his word. When O'reilly says something like "you've been going on for 35 minutes" he means "I think your 15 minutes are up." It's astonishing anyone would take this child's tantrums literally.

The O'Reilly Factor for immature hosts and the childlike people who believe them.
