Oddems de martes: el nervo, los neiwertos, las nalgas, las vegas, lost wages, loaf meatos, la limbaugh, las sassination de lincoln y inglesa

~ O god the nerve... Rush Limbaugh went on and on about Nancy Pelosi as if she was a traitor for wearing a headscarf in Syria, even though just about any woman had better if they know what's good for them in those countries. Nancy is our hero now, since Laura Bush has proven to be such a dispappointing gender-neutral wimp who can't control her husband...

Laura4~ Recipe: really good mashed potatoes : 1 lb. butter/1 lb. potatoes.

~ $100 million a year. That's how much Paul Harvey makes and what Fred Thompson may forfeit if he foolishly runs for the presidency in 2008. Wish THAT was the rest of the story...

~ It's time again for the Neiwert Awards. Those are the regional blog honors meted out annually by the venerable Northwest Progressive Institute, that austere Eastside liberal cabal. (they're named after the tireless chronicler of the extreme right, David Neiwert of Orcinus. They named it for poor Dave, so he's apparently not eligible for an award, though he's certainly deserving). Congratulations to all who won this year. (Blatherwatch got only an honorable mention, this year- which is better than the dishonorable mentions we usually get, if mentioned at all in anything besides the occasional lawsuit.) The NW liberal netroots are certainly remarkable- they're organized and have made a real impact on local politics; both by digging up the truth, and raising hell and funds for candidates. The Neiwert Awards are all about that.

~ An astute observation: "You never know what's on somebody's butt these days until they do moon you. ~ Rush Limbaugh.

~As well they should: the hapless right-wingers around here hate David Goldstein; despise his blog, HorsesAss.org and really hate (or as they might put it-they're unhinged) that he's still working at KIRO (Saturdays, Sundays 7-10p). They'd love to see him fired- that's why the mighty, rightie, linker, Orbusmax always refers to him as a KIRO Talk Host when he headlines Goldy's "crimes" This time it's "... Inciting Violence?" when Goldy posted this.

Thank-you, Nation de Ron et Don, thank-you for keeping us informed on Sanjaya, and the intense controversies around this fascinating newsmaker. Also on the peace & justice issues surrounding Heather Mills (she's no relation to Hayley Mills; but to the British public she's Lady Mucca, and her friends call her Peg) in Dancing with the Stars. Ron & Don (KIRO m-f, 4-7p) give us the kind of incisive reporting and vital debate that may be the only hope to save talk radio from those who'd distract the American people with war and economics.

~ There's nothing intelligent to add to the uproar over the Don Imus' idiocy, so we'll jump right in. Everyone knows it- Don Imus is a prick. (once we heard him or one of his cronies say: "Rape me once, shame on you; rape me twice, shame on me.") Can't believe how much press the ignorImus got from this: reminds us sadly of the bullet the goofy Bryan Styble (KIRO Sundays, 10p-1a) dodged when he said recently that blacks were better off as slaves in America than left in their brutish African cultures. He's just lucky nobody listens to him, or reads this blog...

~ Don't know what it is about Washington State Republicans that have left them with so few clues: Remember us telling you about the Lincoln Day Dinner the King County Republicans were having April 14 with Karl Rove doing the speakering? Seems we missed the fun part: Goldy has pointed out that the GOP geniuses picked the exact date of the ANNIVERSARY OF ABRAHAM LINCOLN'S ASSASSINATION!!! (bloggers big celebration is the annual Linkin' Day Dinner...)

Donna Brazile on "This Week"

"Somehow or other in this whole dispute we've forgotten the fact that Speaker [Newt] Gingrich went to the Middle East and blasted the Clinton administration when he had that position, and Speaker Hastert told the Columbian military that they could deal directly with the Republican-controlled congress and bypass the Clinton administration. Look, they may dislike the messenger---in this case Nancy Pelosi---but she went over there and she articulated the president's message to Assad to close the border, stop undermining Lebanon, and start talking to Israel."

Styblehead , Styblehead , Styblehead now if you said this to your self, he should vanish !
HOOTY HOO!

Dave Ross just said "more on the Don Imus situation when we come back", then it cuts to Frank Shiers saying "coming up on the Big Show we'll discuss Don Imus and see what you think..." Thanks, Frank.

Also KIRO is using some Aphex Twin samples in their promo spots and somehow I doubt they paid the proper royalties.

Imus blows and Stern rules, but it's funny to hear Jesse "H-ymietown" Jackson and Al "Jews are diamond merchants" Sharpton complain that Imus should be fired, ya know?

Nigel, you of all people should understand that in the case of Jackson and Sharpton the tolerance level is one louder... "11" ya know!

Yes vg, Gracie.

Today Howard played Sharpton's "interview" with Imus. For some reason, I can't stop saying "y'all" now.

P.S. Sharpton has some fly bumper music on his show, y'all.

As I've frequently said it's a sad (follow-the-money) commentary when these skum-bag media types get so much air play and attention and true and honorable professions (like teaching) are so (in my opinion) under paid.
As for Ms Pelosi - I'll say it again: if our sitting President is unable to communicate as he seemingly is, more power to the Speaker of the House to go over and 'listen' and talk (not 'negotiate') with the world...what a 'novel' approach!
So she wears a head-scaft...'Rush' s/be wearing one over his face or stuffed in his mouth!
