Ah, jeez, Nate....I hate it that I have to sleep at night and miss this fantastic piece of true Americana ...but the link! The live link! These are the words that keep our economy on the run! (Does Bla'M pay you to listen to swill while he watches the sun rise over Mayan pyramids? Why else would you sacrifice your soul?)

joanie

Well done, Nate! Having never listened to this six-hour(?) commercial that has brought the mighty KIRO to its knees, I now know I never shall.

Just checked the schedule, I notice The Frank Shiers show is on seven - count 'em - seven days a week - three-hours a day. Frank must be quite pleased with himself . . . gonna give up that rock-jock job, Frank?

PS: Love the Wiki Sixteen Tons link! I didn;t know all those nuances......thanks!

On Fire with Carl Jeffers has replaced the Shierster on Saturday night now. Thank Christ for small mercies. Yes the Shireman is as smug as a bug in a rug now.

Carl Jeffers must plug his nose when he takes over for FS. Too bad that a quality broadcaster like CF has his time slots jerked around because of football.

I am so grateful that there is KGO to listen to at night, to avoid the truckers & FS.

If you are streaming on the computer, a wonderful music station is KOHO radio out of Leavenworth..Icicle Broadcasting, owned by the venerable Harriett Bullet.

joanie

I'm surprised Harriet Bullitt has her hand in any radio anywhere. . . didn't know that. Thanks Sparky. Wonder if she has other stations?

Is it classical?

sparky

Ms Bullitt is VERY active in many organizations in the Leavenworth area. She lives across Icicle Creek from Sleeping Lady Retreat Center, another of her projects. They have conference space, cabins, a gourmet chef, a chapel and a music center where concerts are held. KOHO is right at the entrance to Sleeping Lady. Ms. Bullitt hops her little tram from her house ( very unassuming medium sized chalet) and eats at the dining room many evenings, although I didnt see her when I was there. Dale Chuhuly has a glass sculpture there, and there is a lot of outdoor art, sculpture, etc.

KOHO is a mix...classical on sunday mornings but the rest of the time it is a mix of adult contemporary, soft rock, jazz, and news from the BBC on the hour.

www.kohoradio.com I stream it all afternoon until its time for Rachel...

I'm paid by an unknowing benefactor (ie boring job that let's me sacrifice my soul to Bla'M)

That and my therapist tells me it's good to have hobbies. You do all the trapese yoga sky diving you want.
