Sheriff Congressman Reichert would not respond again this week to KIRO requests to appear on David Goldstein's talk show (Sundays, 7-10).
Darcy Burner, the capable upstart, self-propelled Harvard grad, mom, former Microsoft exec, and hardworking underdog will appear instead.
Reichert is known behind his back as "Sheriff Hairspray" in the local legal community for his elegant silvery coif. On the stump he's known for humble-style hat-in-hand grandstanding, gracious gobbledygook, and his avoidance of substantive debate and answering questions directly.
As a matter of fact, he's known for staying away from forums where he might be challenged; or walking off the stage when the debate gets rough.
He'd rather hang instead with the better-red-than-dead KVI talk hosts John & Kirby, where he'll be respectfully fellated; or with the fawning gang over at Republican Radio trading platitudes and getting in some heavy petting. (KKOL Saturdays, 10-11a, Sundays, 5-6p; KVI Saturdays, 3-5p).
(Even KIRO's liberal Dave Ross, who ran for Congress against the talking haircut in 2004, won't take the gloves off in interviews with him for fear, presumably, of giving the appearance of sour grapes).
He could expect respectful but vigorous questions and robust debate out of Goldy, but that's exactly what the silver haired devil always avoids. It might be why the one termer's in trouble.
Reichert's poll numbers are as anemic as his Congressional presence.
Darcy needs more name recognition and district exposure and she's getting it. She's a one stop shop- all voters have to do is meet her. Or listen to her Sunday night at 7:15p, on 710KIRO.

you should probably quit claiming that she is a former microsoft "exec" since the liar herself is not even trying that one anymore.

Damn, Bla'M, I don't get the "better-red-than-dead" description of the C&W boys...

Fremont, you bozo, maybe he means "red" as in red state, not Red Commie. Oops, my age is showing...

LOL Fremont! Isn't is funny how you get it as soon as you've admitted to not getting it?
I've been reading for weeks over on HorsesAss all about Darcy (Goldy's her biggest fan) and the amount of crap out there should earn a mention in Guinness. People omit, misconstrue, spin . . . I'm going to give up politics cause nobody seems to honor truth anymore.
Reichert's doin' it right. Avoid, dodge, dance around, (he's not smart enough to spin), - that's the new political environment. Heard Mehlman on "Meat" today and he's another one. Never answered a question directly. It's depressing.
Do I sound cynical? (lol) I need to open that bottle of riesling . . .

Just to be fair, Reichert's press person has responded that the Congressman won't be available to call in.
I've extended an open invitation, and promised to be respectful, if tough.

"must read on Washblog"

Proof?! Uh...she was claiming exec status early on (heard it myself on Dave's show) and it was apparently on her website initially (so I've read) and it is often repeated by those fawning all over her (see above). But once called on this claim she revised her statements to say that she had a "successful business career at Microsoft". In fact she was a group and/or project manager, which is a far cry from Microsoft executive.

tried to get Donald Rumsfeld - but ummm - he like totally chickened out so.... who's linking to me... hmmm... oh - I know...

the show virtually mirrors "Republican Radio" on KVI. That's his right (as long as KIRO keeps him on) - but it doesn't make it good radio.
I don't think the guy's and idiot - but I think he see's his show as an opportunity to play "pay-back" against KVI.
I want to hear different ideas bounced around and discussed. That's a basic of talk radio. Chuckle-heads Ron and Don actually do a better job of this.
