UPDATE: from David Postman's blog:
Eyman responded to Goldstein and said he'd come on the show, but only if he could stay the entire three hours Sunday night. Goldstein says one hour is the best Eyman can hope for, and in the e-mail thread I just read (forwarded to me by Eyman), said, "Funny, Tim. I doubt the audience can take three hours of me, let alone three hours of the two of us." Responds Eyman: "Let me know if you change your mind, coward."
UPDATE: this tidbit from Goldy's self-congratulating yet delicious post:
And finally a not quite as sincere thanks to our good friend Stefan Sharkansky. It is ironic to note that it was Stefan’s excerpt of Sandeep saying “fuck” on our podcast, and my subsequent defense of it on my new colleague Dori Monson’s show, that initially perked up the ears of KIRO management. Thank you Stefan for everything you have done to promote my career.
David Goldstein, progressive smartass, horse's ass.org blogger, verbose chutzpamaniac of the local bandwidth will augment his influences and enrich the Seattle talk scene by appearing weekly on KIRO radio Sundays, 7-10p, replacing veteran talker Turi Ryder.
Goldstein, a novice to radio except for a 3-hr tryout last Sunday night, met with Program Director Tom Clendening today and was given the part time job.
Goldy says, "All I ever wanted was for someone to give me a chance, and Tom did that."
For a complete novice to be given a gig even part time on a major station is unusual, but Goldstein made quite an impression last Sunday. "I'd love it to work into something full time," Goldstein says.
(The weeknight 9p-1a spot is still open on KIRO and a spot traditionally held by liberals.)
Goldstein's success on the heels of initiative flim-flammer, Tim Eyman's stunning failure and fall from public grace just yesterday, is ironic. Goldstein's first venture onto the local political scene was an initiative a few years ago, declaring that Eyman was a horse's ass.
Although he collected enough signatures to qualify the measure for the ballot, then-Attorney General Christine Christine Gregoire, while never questioning the factual basis of Goldstein's resolution, declared it frivolous and struck it from the ballot. A good time, however, was had by all.
In 2005, Goldstein interviewed county exec candidate Dave Irons' mother who testified that he had struck her in a rage. Even though the MSM had heard the story for years from her, they'd never published it. Goldstein blogged it, the MSM then picked it up, and the unapologetic mother-strucker was defeated by the incumbent Ron Sims.
Goldstein brings a fresh voice to local radio with Philly trash talk, unapologetic liberal point of view, and a fearless but not easily uninterrupted stream of well-informed wit.
Good move, Tom Clendening, Entercom!

Was that a one paragraph hiatus KS??
