Effervescent, funny and brilliantly mouthy progressive activist and influential Seattle blogger, David Goldstein will sub for the ill Turi Ryder from 7-10p tonight.
We'll just have to TIVO The Sopranos. We wouldn't miss this for anything- then we'll blog a critical review.
For years, Goldstein's been the turd in the loafers of tax whore Tim Eyman, the voluble activist whose verbosity morphs into uncharacteristically arch silence when Goldstein is in the room. He has nemesis-ed Stefan Sharkansky, the Republican maven of the failed 2004 gubernatorial deflection who repeatedly refuses to be on the radio at the same time as Goldstein.
Goldy fell off a wagon and was raised by a family of attorneys around a lively Jewish dinner table where discussions weren't always rabbinical. He's a capable debater, who regularly goes head to heads with John Carlson (KVI m-f, 3-5p) KOMO m-f,10a-12p) and Kirby Wilbur (KVI m-f, 5-9a), where he's often outnumbered, even ganged-up on, by a right-wing guest plus the conservative host.
Even in those situations he usually kicks ass.
The discussion will be lively, especially if conservatives call in. Chances are, however, they won't.
Righties are famously chicken when it comes to actually confronting liberals. They prefer to phone in their amens to right wing talk shows where no one will challenge them.
(We dared conservatives to call in to Rep. Jim McDermott when he subbed last week for Dave Ross. Of course, none did, allowing the old goose to drone on interminably making Seattle nice-nice with his customary platitudes).
Goldstein's harried latest post says KIRO called early this afternoon, leaving him just hours to prepare. Seasoned talk hosts say it takes two hours off-air to prepare for each hour on-air. This puts him under the gun- and without the added help of a producer.
It'll be a tough ho' to row. Listen in to hear him be brilliant or brilliantly fall on his ass.
And give him a call- especially you chicken-shit conservatives- always so flaming, brave, principled, and nasty in comments threads and on Kirby Wilbur- Get a pair, call Goldstein and stick up for yourselves...
Goldstein is a whiny little New York jew who gets all the publicity he deserves already. He reflects the attutudes of Seattle liberals who have come from back east lately and now want to inflict their lack of values and their socialistic theories on the rest of us.
He should shut up, and go back to where he came from.
