Entercom management seems to be caught in the headlights.
"Help!," they say, "We've fallen and we can't get up!"
The transmitter's on, but it seems everyone's went over to the Wally Mart for a Moon Pie.
What should they do? Hire Dan Rather? Let Dave Ross and Dori Monson do the whole day?
Death and dissemination? Old folks home? Conservative talk? Sports talk? Progressive talk? Girl talk? Music? Religious programming? Spanish Programming? Disney? Purity Products?
You tell us, we'll tell them...

Since they seem to be going this way anyway, why not position themselves as the leading "retro radio" station in the country?
All "When Radio Was..." all the time.
Maybe play old shows that ran on KIRO back in the 40's and 50's, to include local commercials from that era.
Either that, or switch formats to become Seattle's new home for New Country. Because what Seattle needs is another country station.

You are being facetious, right? Country . . . ?
I say go infomercial. Afterall, they are all about money anyway.

Is there a market for a "Christian gansta rap station"?
Posted by: Seabeck | March 04, 2006 at 12:07 PM
How about a Bootay format? Get the sexy voices- Jane Shannon, RCCats, Erin Hart, Turi Ryder to give radio sex and take sex advice calls. The ladies could have Dave Ross, Frank Shiers, and Tony Minor. The twinks could have Dori or Sytman. MILFs could have a show, so could transexuals. It could be in the nude sometimes, or drag, or leather, or diapers. Just good soft hardcore. Christian sex? Gay & lesbian techniques? Toystore. Penis enhancement. libido contests. Bootay radio- What a great idea!

Hey siggy, have you seen a photo of Erin Hart? She gives Dr Turkey Neck a run for her money. You must be in prison.

Do you really think they can compete with KJR? Perhaps, they do have a bigger signal I think. Somehow, I can't see it. Esp. if they keep NYV . . . I can understand why KJR let him go.

that's the beauty of radio. it doesn't matter what a talker looks like. Do you think those voices on the sex call lines are really from those beautiful models you see on the tv ads? they're not, they're some overweight housefraus sitting at home answering the phone with a sexy voice and saying dirty things in their scuffies and worn out housecoats. Flirty perky Erin, sexy smooth Turi. Just think how it would sound if they were talking about what they were wearing. BTW, who's Dr. Turkey Neck?

Does anybody have any info on when Leykis might return to Seattle? I never saw the actual data, but Tom claimed he was #1 in Seattle market. Surely somebody would want to pick up a top show. Any idea who and when?
Posted by: BlowMeUp | March 04, 2006 at 04:09 PM
uhh...KISW runs the Leykis Show from 10pm to 2am. "turkey neck" is Dr. Laura...Howard is the King. KIRO is dead.
P.S. Erin Hart does not have a sexy voice, but Judy Nicastro does.

About opening time for discussion panels during the day, then dave and dori moderate. This way participants have a better change of debating points.
Topics: political (with special guests), sports, etc.
Add streaming video and chatting management stuff
Will call dave the Net Ophra, hehe

Sparky,
Thanks for the site but I'm having trouble figuring out how to hear it. I'll keep trying.
Here's an interesting irony that just came to my attention although it has been around a while:
"Two Iraqi women whose husbands and children were killed by US troops during the Iraq war have been refused entry into the United States for a speaking tour. The women were invited to the US for peace events surrounding international women’s by the human rights group Global Exchange and the women’s peace group CODEPINK.
In a piece of painful irony, the reason given for the rejection was that the women don’t have enough family in Iraq to prove that they’ll return to the country."
The site links the original story to Common Dreams dated February 12.

One more for Sparky: Tom Tomorrow was interviewed Friday on Franken and he's got a website I checked out. It is pretty interesting . . . some nice posts, very informative with good links. You might like it.

When my wife and I traveled to Ixtapa a few years back, there seemed to be some pretty good pop Hispanic music, (Ricky Martin, Christina Aguilera, Shakira, Juanes). Perhaps best described as a Mexican-style "Star 101.5" format. I've always wondered why there is not an FM station in the Seattle area that plays this genre. (Not the elevator music you hear at your favorite mexican restaurant). Are there not enough advertising dollars available for this market? I would think at least one station could capitalize on the idea.

Seabeck..I have digital cable and one of the features is about 40 channels of uninterrupted music. About 8-10 of those stations are Latin music choices..all very very good music. I agree that there should be more world music available.
Joanie..Tom Tomorrow is wonderful. I have been reading him for years on Salon.com and other websites that run his cartoon.
Whiterose is a service that re-plays a variety of talk show hosts. In fact, Whiterose runs a repeat of Tom Hartmann for 24 hours until his next national show is played. So if you miss a live broadcast, you can go listen to it there. The show I sent you last night uses Tom Hartmann's chat room as well. Last night we were discussing Bush's Mangos for Nukes deal with India and had a lot of fun coming up with movie titles with the word Mango in them..Star Trek: The Wrath of Mango, stuff like that. It got silly and very funny.
